"Singing Bamboo has been around for 40 years. And you can tell. The brown plastic tablecloths that drape the round tables at this Chinese restaurant are straight out of the ‘80s. But ambiance isn’t why you’re here. In a city where good Chinese food is hard to find, Singing Bamboo has some very good dishes. A lot of folks like this place for takeout. And while their general tso’s chicken is solid, and their egg rolls are bigger than a tactical flashlight, you should pop in with a group and try their dim sum. That’s what Singing Bamboo does best. Food Rundown Steamed Pork Dumplings The wrapper holds all the juicy pork and shrimp tighter than staticky Saran. The sui mai are springy, small enough to pop in your mouth, and burst like little water balloons. But despite their size, they’re more delicate than a toddler’s feelings. So eat carefully. These fluffy monsters are filled with so much sweet roasted pork, they look like they exploded in the steamer. PlayMute video credit: Virginia Otazo" - Virginia Otazo
