Zeit Für Brot - Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"A moment please, while we masquerade as Duolingo. Zeit Für Brot translates as ‘time for bread’, but to experience the best of this German artisanal bakery import, repeat after us—“zeit für currywurst sausage roll”. In a sea of sugary apfel classics and huge, glossy cinnamon schnecken, this savoury option is effectively a flaky sausage roll and a jar of mustard, without the dipping middle man. There are also few sausage rolls in London that can be consumed on a corner of Islington in a cafe that’s all soft wooden curves, peachy terracotta walls, and hidden alcoves where you and a crisp paperback can romanticise your life. If performative reading isn’t your thing, then walk past the sugar-bait pastry counter to the third section of seating, where you can watch their team of bakers folding dough and crafting the titular loaves through the glass. Or just get the hench roast beef sandwich and one of the expertly spiced cinnamon rolls to go the next time you’ve developed the ick for your rinse-and-repeat meal deal order. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Pause Unmute Food Rundown Currywurst Sausage Roll Very important evidence that size isn’t everything when it comes to sausage rolls. This klein roll contains enough sharp mustard to get your sinuses tingling while the glazed pastry has a sweet hint of caramel. One to return for time and time again. PlayMute video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Rare Roast Beef Stulle Our official muse for putting carrot in all meaty sandwiches. The wedge of tender pink roast beef slices could be overwhelming but the lather of mustard and slightly bitter salad leaves keeps any meat overload woes in check. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Crispy Chicken Schnitzel Tasche Each element of this sandwich is excellent but the combination of breaded schnitzel and thick toasted bread makes for a pretty dry bite. Skip. PlayMute video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Apple Cinnamon Schnecke Sometimes you eat a pastry that becomes a benchmark for all other London pastries to, unknowingly, aspire to. And this XL schnecke has set the bar for the heavy-duty amount of cinnamon we want in a cinnamon bun. It also has a layer of fresh, juicy apple slices, so eat it pronto to prevent any excess moisture issues. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
