Zeit Für Brot translates as ‘time for bread’, but to experience the best of this German artisanal bakery import, repeat after us—“zeit für currywurst sausage roll”. In a sea of sugary apfel classics and huge, glossy cinnamon schnecken, this savoury option is effectively a flaky sausage roll and a jar of mustard, without the dipping middle man. There are also few sausage rolls in London that can be consumed on a corner of Islington in a cafe that’s all soft wooden curves, peachy terracotta walls, and hidden alcoves where you and a crisp paperback can romanticise your life.
