"Joining the likes of Hi Nrg, this outpost of local coffee chain The Coffee Movement is yet another place in the city to drink coffee and listen to vinyl. It's only open on weekday mornings and located inside Side A, a small American restaurant in the Mission. Most days, the handful of bar seats and tightly packed tables are filled by caffeine dependents with vinyl collections. But no one stays for too long, thanks to the “Please, no laptops" signage. This is for the best, because your attention should be on the coffee and whatever record is playing, anyway. photo credit: Patrick Wong The donuts, too, deserve your attention—maybe more so than the coffee and vinyl. The Coffee Movement only makes about 100 per day, typically in two rotating flavors, with usually one yeast and one cake. Our favorite is the yeast that has a Krispy Kreme-adjacent airy texture. And if you’re lucky, it'll be lemon glazed. And if you're too late for the donuts, the coffee soft serve is a fantastic consolation. It tastes like freshly roasted coffee with flecks of beans in almost every bite. Just note that it's only available from 11am-1pm on weekdays as well as 4-5pm Thursday through Monday. photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong
