Z Zoul Cafe The only Sudanese Cuisine in the Bay Area

Restaurant · Tenderloin

"Z Zoul Cafe is the only Sudanese spot in the Bay, and the TL is lucky to have it as an all-day, easy meal option. The menu has a few different protein plates, with falafel, beef kofta, or chicken shawarma. The shawarma is our favorite and fantastic inside of a wrap, dripping with garlic sauce and smeared with hummus. We also love coming here on a typical 52-degree day for a helping of their lentil soup—it’s thick, garlicky, and the edible equivalent of burrowing under a weighted blanket. There are a few tables, but this place runs a tight takeout operation, too, if you’re on the go." - Julia Chen
