"No matter the time of day, the display case at AA Bakery in Chinatown is seemingly always stocked with rows of perma-warm egg tarts, various baos, and spongy cream cakes. But don’t just keep your face pressed against the glass—turn around to peruse even more pastries on the back table. (This is where you’ll also find their Lunar New Year cakes.) With dozens of items to choose from, take a cue from the neighborhood regulars chatting at the few tables inside and order those egg tarts, flaky wife cakes, and any of their year-round moon cakes. If you want a similar menu with more seating, their sister spot, VIP Coffee & Cake Shop, is only a couple blocks away. photo credit: Andria Lo" - Patrick Wong
