"Belen Bistro is a charming Argentinian restaurant in Decatur that makes a great location for a double date or a friend meet-up. But not just because of the spacious three-level dining room, it’s because you’ll want to have a few folks to help you divide and conquer all six empanada flavors. These appetizers come in giant pairs with so much filling it starts erupting out of the flaky crust like molten lava. If you have to pick one, the ham and cheese is our favorite. After that, if there are still a few more pours in your bottle of Argentinian malbec, the perfectly seared 12-ounce of entraña or the spicy-ish chorizo link are decent orders. But it’s unfortunate that the savory pastries set the bar so high because the entree menu feels boring in comparison. photo credit: Juli Horsford Food Rundown Empandas This flaky, meaty appetizer is the only non-negotiable on the menu. We don’t care if you get beef, ham and cheese, or mushroom, just make sure there are some on your table. PlayMute video credit: Juli Horsford Entraña It’s not steakhouse quality, but this 12-ounce skirt steak served with thick fries has a nice sear and lies in a pool of butter. It works. photo credit: Juli Horsford Chorizo Con Puré The spicy-ish chorizo link comes with a light char and a few sprinkles of parsley. Plus, pairing a bite of chorizo with the creamy mashed potatoes is simple but extremely comforting. photo credit: Juli Horsford Flan Flan haters should give this one a try. The consistency is more like a cheesecake. It’s creamy, sweet, and has a nice caramel glaze on top. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford
