"Ye Olde Factor: Like any creaky pub worth its salt, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, off Fleet Street, is located down a fragrant alley. With a snigger-worthy name and a suitably cantankerous landlord (hello, Samuel Smith), it’s little surprise that this sawdusty medieval bungalow is as popular with tourists as it is with beardy CAMRA types and office workers sinking pints. Alleged Notable Regulars: Dickens had his grubby (and extremely gifted) fingers around a pint glass here, as did Mark Twain and P.G. Wodehouse. Agatha Christie namedropped it in a Poirot novel and a famed parrot called Polly was also a regular." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna
