"Asal Bakery & Kabob is a grocery run and quick meal built into one. This Persian market in Woodland Hills has various brands of honey, tea, and sour lavashak to peruse, as well as a counter-service restaurant that assembles plates of kabobs and stews in minutes. Apart from the dry tahdig that we almost chipped a tooth on, we like the saffron-tinted chicken koobideh and the tart ghormeh sabzi, though the latter could use more salt. There are better Persian options out there, but with hot tea, an Iranian YouTube playlist streaming on the TV, and giant boxes of dates for sale next to the register, a visit to Asal is nothing short of pleasant." - Sylvio Martins
