"Chronis Famous Sandwich Shop is as essentially East LA as lowriders and Cheech & Chong. This low-slung fast food stand has been family-run since the '50s and is immediately recognizable by its tall sign promising hot dogs seven days a week. The menu has every combination of burger, dogs, fries, pastrami, and chili imaginable, but the pinnacle is the flagship chili cheese dog, which slides a slice of american cheese, raw onions, and mustard under a snappy beef frank and drowns it in meaty, fine-grained chili.
