"Kemi Dessert Bar is a tiny spot on Capitol Hill churning out a long list of sweets with Asian flavors—and it's worth braving the 12th Ave parking situation to check out. Almost everything behind the meticulously arranged display case is excellent, particularly their black sesame rice crispy squares, classic chocolate chip cookies, and zippy, vegan yuzu cookies. Seattleites might gasp at the lack of coffee to go with all the sugar, but they do have other solid drinks, like a creamy brown sugar assam and hojicha iced tea, and a sparkly mandarin orange sipper. Come here to fill a box of treats that’ll impress everyone the next time you need to show up at a party with dessert. Food Rundown photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Rice Crispy: Mango Sticky Rice These sticky little squares really do taste exactly like the Thai dessert, complete with chunks of dried mango and shredded toasted coconut in every bite. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Rice Crispy: Black Sesame It’s chewy, enjoyably nutty, and has a slight saltiness that makes everything pop. Absolutely get these. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Strawberry Jasmine Kemi Cube This jasmine-flavored pound cake is just too fragrant and perfume-y tasting. You can skip it. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Vegan Yuzu Crinkle Cookie Through sheer skill and sorcery, this vegan cookie is fluffier than the non-vegan ones. It’s a full-on yuzu punch to the face, but if a punch was absolutely lovely and delicious." - Kayla Sager-Riley
