"The phrase “artsy ice cream cave” wasn’t on our bingo card, but that’s exactly how we’d describe Awan’s second location in Larchmont. This Indonesian-inspired ice cream shop looks like a light-and-sound installation you’d find at The Broad, with moodily lit clay-toned walls and menus that hover in dramatic built-ins like they’re the Dead Sea Scrolls. It’s a lot, but if you were going to build a museum exhibit around any ice cream in LA, it would be these creamy, plant-based scoops. Flavors at Awan are in constant rotation, but you can usually expect fresh and tropical options like blood orange, palm sugar, and vanilla made with Bali-important beans." - Brant Cox
