"You may not want to search Opium by name alone, but it’s very much worth finding this Chinatown spot. The space was used for smoking opium when it was still legal, and now, it’s a bar with black leather couches and floral gold motifs decorating the walls. Opium’s cocktails use local ingredients and usually come in vessels made by Thai artists, such as hand-thrown ceramics and blown glassware. Get the Opium Oath, a clear, mezcal-based cocktail that tastes like toasted sesame, chamomile, and cucumber. For a dramatic effect, the bartenders drop fake red blood into the drink, as a nod to the blood oaths seen in Chinese films. It’s located above restaurant Potong, so you can also order a la carte from the kitchen to the bar (hello, soy-honey grilled eggplants and crispy chicken skin with caviar). photo credit: GASTROFILM" - Vichayuth Chantan
