"Amaranto is on a relatively quiet corner in Bushwick, and it isn’t especially hard to get into - but you’ll find some of the best Mexican food in the city here. Start off with some guacamole and a taco or two (we especially like the pork ones), but don’t ignore the larger entrées. There are some very good chicken enchiladas covered in mole poblano, as a well as a thick bone-in pork chop that comes out perfectly cooked in a pool of mole encacahuatado (made with peanuts). The space is just one room with some plain wooden tables and a bar in the corner - and while you could show up here in slippers and a Ninja Turtles sweatshirt, it works pretty well for a casual date night. Bring someone who doesn’t know about Amaranto yet, and it’ll make you seem just a little bit cooler." - Bryan Kim
