Saluhall Review - Soma - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Saluhall is a food hall in the IKEA building on Market St., and luckily, you don’t have to navigate a maze of rattan chairs and mattresses to get to it. Created by IKEA’s real estate sister company, it’s a two-story modernist space with an almost infinite amount of seating, and a general coworking energy that works great for extended lunch breaks that can eventually turn into beer-fueled “work” sessions. photo credit: Saluhall photo credit: Saluhall photo credit: Saluhall photo credit: Saluhall photo credit: Saluhall The best stuff is on the second floor—you'll find local spots like Kayma, Taqueria La Venganza (which has a surprisingly "meaty" seitan asada taco on thin tortillas), and Momo Noodle, with spicy noodle bowls that should be a priority. And if the siren song of meatballs and lingonberries is just too compelling to ignore, sneak away to the back corner, where you’ll find all of the classic IKEA food at the classic IKEA prices. However, the food on the first floor (consisting of several soulless corporate-feeling stalls) is pretty skippable. The pain au cinnamon is dry and flavorless, the merguez and sage potato flatbread is a gummy attempt at pizza that tastes like it came out of an Easy-Bake oven, and the Beyond cheeseburger looks photogenic but has the flavor of straight-up soybean oil." - Ricky Rodriguez
