"You need to walk through a long dramatic corridor and take a fancy lift to get to Clap, a low-lit Japanese restaurant in Knightsbridge. Walking through the dark wood-filled space, the view of the London skyline impresses from one side, and sushi chefs expertly mince salmon from the other. Special occasions are marked with tantalising crispy rice and black cod lettuce bites, and well-dressed, economically blessed people fill the room. The outdoor terrace—perfect on warmer nights—is the ultimate photo opp, and if you’re after more of a party atmosphere, know that the upstairs bar and lounge area has a DJ most weekends. The Japanese food is expensive, but very good, so it feels like you’re getting your money's worth. video credit: Rianne Shlebak Pause Unmute Food Rundown Crispy Rice Salmon We are very into these small bites of golden, fried rice topped with a mound of minced salmon. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Black Cod The lettuce cups filled with soft cod are light and refreshing, but not worth the £25 price tag. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Surf & Turf Roll When you’re feeling especially fancy, this king crab sushi roll, topped with chunks of charred wagyu beef should be on your table. It’s OTT but it works. Crispy Shrimp & Chu Toro Any sushi roll filled with fried shrimp is one we’ll probably enjoy, but this one topped with minced tuna with a yuzu truffle dressing is exceptional. Rich from the truffle and zesty from the yuzu, it’s a very satisfying balance of flavours. Salmon Volcano Purists will roll their eyes in disgust at the sheer amount of spicy mayo poured all over this sushi roll, and even though we love spicy mayo, it was way too much sauce. It's tender, light as a feather, and has a slight sweetness from the sweet miso sauce. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak" - Rianne Shlebak
