"Come to this Gables bakery for coffee and pastries, but come on a weekday when things are quieter. Saturdays and Sundays can get a little hectic with strollers, dogs, and people hunting for open tables. Still, even if it is busy, our favorite things here—the pastries—are all available to go. If you see it in the pastry case, order a savory pastry like the ricotta cheese with caramelized onions or a sweet morning bun. You can also find dishes that revolve around sourdough, like avocado toast and french toast. Just beware, your food will take longer when they’re busy, which is why we like to opt for a croissant and cappuccino when that happens. Luckily the soft white walls, high ceiling, and bread baskets give the place a sense of calm—even in the middle of a Saturday brunch rush. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc" - Virginia Otazo
