"The name of The View Lounge gives it all away: you’re here for the view, and the view only. At the top of the Marriot Marquis in SoMa, this 39th-floor enclosed lounge with panoramic windows that look like the top half of a clock tower is the highest publicly available rooftop in the city. The $25 cocktails feel expensive for their size, and the $30 shrimp cocktail tastes even more mediocre than the hors d'oeuvres served at weddings. But it’s walk-in only (and you seat yourself), which makes for an easy last-minute pick when the sunset looks like it’s going to be gorgeous and you want to get a group together. Most people seem to be out-of-towners (judging by all the suits and business casual clothes), so feel free to dress up a bit to blend in more. photo credit: The View Lounge" - Ricky Rodriguez
