"McCall’s in Atwater Village (which has a second location in Santa Monica) is an upscale butcher and market with beautiful marbled steaks, imported fish, and artisan cheeses—the kind of stuff that makes a home chef with a Bon Appétit subscription feel like a kid in Toys ‘R’ Us. It’s a great place to spend a chunk of cash the next time you host friends for a fancy dinner, and also grab a delicious deli case sandwich around lunchtime. McCall’s prepares all its sandwiches in the morning, so once they sell out (usually 1-2pm), they’re gone. Fillings frequently change, too, so check out their Instagram for specials, like a muffuletta punched up with dijon, a turkey cubano with sweet pickles, and a hot capicola with fig jam on focaccia." - Sylvio Martins
