"The 8th isn’t known for monuments or tourist attractions, but you should know it for Oh Vin Dieu. They serve perfectly plated fine-dining-quality food and wine at a price that ensures you don’t have to throw down a month’s worth of rent. The seasonal dinner menu of traditional French food only has four main dishes, thus letting you use the brainpower to choose bottles off the multipage wine menu. If you see the oeuf mayo with squash seeds and pickled carrots, zero in on it, and try the braised ris de veau with a glass (or bottle) of Cru Beaujolais or tête de veau (calf’s head) with a red Cotes du Jura to level up the experience. Reservations are a must, but plan accordingly: they’re closed Friday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday." - Tanisha Townsend
