Lamberts Downtown Barbecue - Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Barbecue in Austin is very much a daytime meal, with some of the best spots in the city hanging up their “sold out” signs after lunch. So what do you do when you have a craving for barbecue after the sun goes down? You head to Lamberts downtown. This is “fancy barbecue,” which means that in addition to the Central Texas classics—like brisket, pork ribs, and sausage—you’ll also see things like wild boar ribs with honey and sambal, or juniper and black pepper lamb ribs. Will it be the best barbecue you can find in Austin? Probably not, but it might be one of the only options you’ll find at 8pm on a Friday night. You can also expect to pay considerably more for barbecue here than at that trailer down the street from your house, but at least here you can enjoy your meal with cocktails, beer, wine, and an extensive whiskey list. photo credit: Casey Dunn The dining room feels a little like a Spaghetti Warehouse with Texas roots. Expect to find lots of exposed brick, neon signs, and big leather booths in a two-story space. There’s also a good chance you’ll hear some live music on the second floor stage. Come here with your parents who might not have warmed up to the idea of waiting in line at 10am for barbecue, or you’re looking for more of a “restaurant experience” where the apps don’t just consist of coleslaw and beans. photo credit: Chelsea Francis" - Nicolai McCrary
