"Sunny’s is a restaurant that can also be a great cocktail bar—as long as you’re cool with either hanging out on the patio or arriving early enough to snag a seat at the bar. The house cocktails are all excellent. We like the cucumber-y green ghoul on humid nights. But you’ll see most tables drinking martinis for a reason. They get their own dedicated section on the menu, which reads like a choose-your-own-adventure novel, and are always served freezing cold. It’s worth coming right when the doors open (or a few minutes before) to sit at the semicircular bar inside, where you can people-watch and behold the sight of dozens of martini glasses filled with ice, waiting for their moment in the spotlight. Sunny’s releases reservations 30 days in advance. But if you missed that window, seats at their indoor bar are held for walk-ins. It's a small bar, but the full menu is available there. You might want to arrive 15 minutes before they open at 5:30pm to be safe. Members of our team have also successfully walked in without a reservation, put their name on the list, and gotten a table after about 30 minutes. Worst case, you can hang out at the outdoor bar, where they offer snacks and steak frites." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
