Marina's Bistro and Rum Bar

Puerto Rican restaurant · Sheridan Park

"“Rum Bar” might get second billing in the name of this Puerto Rican spot, but the fresh fruit puree cocktails at Marina’s outshine the food. That doesn't mean the homestyle dishes aren't useful for lunch or maybe a dinner that started out as low-key drinks. The short menu plays it straight with mofongo, jibaritos with perfectly fried tostones, or bowls you can customize with things like garlicky chicken or roast pork. Just make sure to get some pastelillos and plantain chips with incredible, sweet guava butter to snack on while you relax in chairs shaped like leaves and watch the other tables do rounds of shots. The combination of fruity, rum-forward drinks and a plant-heavy, summery atmosphere makes this nondescript Uptown storefront feel like it’s on the brink of party time, even at 5:30pm on a Sunday." - Veda Kilaru
