"Rooted in the wild landscape of Inishmaan, this Michelin-recommended restaurant with rooms is a unique, low-slung, almost futuristic-looking structure whose curved windows and grey stone exterior blend seamlessly with the island’s dry-stone walls. Owned and run by Ruairí and Marie‑Thérèse de Blacam—who designed and built it from scratch and opened in 2007—it pairs charming, well-organised service with the realities of running a luxury business on a remote island. Open from March to September, the 16-seat dining room serves a daily changing four-course set menu at a single sitting, creating a convivial atmosphere in a long, narrow room with amazing views towards neighbouring Inishmore and outsize black and white photos celebrating life on Inishmaan. Ruairí’s “Elemental Eating” showcases vibrant, flavoursome dishes that rely on prime island ingredients, with salads, herbs and vegetables from their own polytunnel and garden—think golden beets from the garden and locally caught lobster paired with aioli and rocket fresh from the polytunnel. Stays of 2, 3 and 5 nights are offered in the luxury rooms, and thoughtful touches equip you for exploring—hiking, biking, fishing and swimming gear, binoculars, rods, towels, and even a lunch kit with fresh bread and hot soup—so you can roam the island by day and be back in time for dinner." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team
