Review: Pullman Tamachi, Tokyo - SilverKris

"This hotel — the Pullman brand’s first entry into Japan — fuses contemporary minimalism with kabuki-inspired theatricality: a colour palette drawn from kabuki makeup (white, red, blue and purple), calligraphy-inspired painting on the lobby-bar ceiling, and a standout reinterpretation of Sharaku’s famed kabuki actor ukiyo-e overlaid with a traditional asanoha (hemp-leaf) pattern by artist BAKIBAKI. Public corridors and guest floors continue the hybrid aesthetic with muted ginpaku (silver leaf) and custom washi panels, while rooms offer distinctive materials and touches such as black Spanish marble counters, custom Shigaraki stoneware sinks, leather chairs with velvet cushions, fusuma paper panels and sculptural paper art reminiscent of origami. The hotel has seven room and suite types and is extremely well connected — a covered one-minute walkway links directly to JR East Tamachi Station, the property overlooks multiple tracks (including the Yamanote loop) with Shinkansen passing by outside the thick glass, and key Tokyo attractions and business districts are within easy reach." - Selena Hoy
