"Set in the old Born neighbourhood close to the cathedral, this market is instantly recognisable for its undulating, multi‑coloured ceramic-tile roof and offers a more intimate alternative to the city’s busiest market. Inside, vibrant stalls fill the air with the scents of fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables; a long-running charcuterie and cheese counter (opened in 1927) stocks a wide range from Manchego and Idiazabal to rarer Payoyo and Majorero, alongside classic cold cuts such as jamón and fuet, and a hanging sobrassada that nods to Balearic origins. A humble family-run market bar serves homemade set lunches and hearty smorzars de forquilla — stews, offal, fish or sausages with wine and espresso — and visitors are encouraged to try the market’s offal specialist for authentic local flavours." - Mireia Font
