"There’s plenty of scenic shoreline around Lake Constance — known as the Bodensee in German — one of the largest lakes in central Europe. Arguably the loveliest stretch is in the foothills of the northern Alps near the Swiss border, where the medieval city of Konstanz rises up on the waterfront. RIVA occupies one of the stately Art Nouveau villas on the lakeside promenade, and while the boutique hotel blends in with its surroundings, it’s been expanded and fully reimagined inside.
