"A pair of painstakingly restored 16th-century palaces, once the homes of aristocratic Florentine families, have reopened as the luxurious Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi. The location around the corner from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella is excellent, but there’s no doubt that the hotel’s star attraction is the dazzling panorama of another church, the Duomo, from its rooftop bar. Several suites and rooms enjoy the same view, and their period charm has been well-preserved, though the Renaissance-era atmosphere is more on display in the ground-level salons and ballroom, with their frescoed ceilings and original artworks.
