"A high alpine summit rising to 8,714 feet in the Accursed Mountains (which straddle the borders of Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania), the summit experience is described as still and timeless: “nothing stirred. Starkly sublime mountains stretched out on all sides, towering over glacial lakes and fields of wildflowers.” The final push to the top can be punishing, leaving hikers sprawled on rocks to recover, but rewards include sweeping, glacial-lake views and the sensation of having fallen out of time. Located in an especially remote part of the massif, the peak is often visited as a common add-on to the longer transnational route." - Clodagh Kinsella
