Review: The Roosevelt New Orleans

"This historic, luxury Waldorf Astoria property (opened in 1893 as "The Grunewald" and renamed in 1923 for the 26th president) blends grand, old-world décor—crystal chandeliers, high ceilings and European flourishes—with modern comforts and attentive service. The hotel occupies a full city block in downtown New Orleans, a short walk from the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, and offers 504 rooms (including 125 suites), a variety of room types from deluxe to luxury, well-appointed bathrooms, Nespresso machines and minibars, flat-screen TVs and high-speed internet. Dining and drinking options are plentiful: the historic Sazerac Bar (relocated to the property in 1949) is renowned for the classic Sazerac cocktail and hosts the annual Stormin' of the Sazerac celebration; the Fountain Lounge serves classic New Orleans breakfast fare (think crawfish and Tasso ham omelets, pecan waffles); Domenica is a rustic favorite for housemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas (reservations recommended); and Teddy’s Cafe is a quiet spot for coffee, beignets and light bites. On-site amenities include a world-class spa with 10 treatment rooms offering massages, cupping, reflexology, facials and nail/hair services plus steam and sauna access, a rooftop pool with city views, five dining venues, and 60,000 square feet of meeting space. The property also emphasizes accessibility (multiple accessible room types with roll-in showers or hearing accommodations), follows Hilton’s sustainability practices, and participates in Hilton Honors and American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts programs for member perks." - Marcea Cazel
