The 18 Best Places To Eat Ramen In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Most ramen shops specialize in a certain type of broth, and Afuri Ramen, which is part of a global chain with a few West Coast locations, is no different. If it's your first time at this massive Williamsburg restaurant, get the yuzu shio ramen. It’s light, it’s spritzy, and it’s got a touch of citrusy bitterness—perfect for a summer soup. But it still hit those satisfying savory notes you’d expect in a bowl of ramen, with chewy noodles, a jammy egg, and slices of charred chashu pork." - will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja, kenny yang

Where to Get Ramen in New York City | Eater NY

"This ramen parlor is luxurious and modernistic, also serving dumplings, ceviche, Japanese fried chicken, and a full roster of alcoholic drinks, so it doubles as a bar. The vegetarian hazelnuts tantan features thick noodles, shiitake mushrooms, greenery, and a dense miso broth with hazelnuts and constitutes one of the most interesting vegetarian bowls of ramen in the city." - Robert Sietsema

NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"This international chain with over a dozen locations worldwide specializes in yuzu shio ramen. Their first East Coast location is right next to The Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, so you should know about it if you want to pregame a jam band show with some noodle soups and gyoza. You can also get a few different donburi, tsukemen, and some other izakaya-style small plates." - will hartman

Google
A great new ramen spot in Brooklyn from a famous shop in Ebisu, Tokyo. I went for lunch and tried their $25 lunch set, which includes an appetizer, ramen, and a drink, such a good deal for NYC🍜! I had the karaage, yuzu shio ramen, and yuzu soda. The karaage was crispy and juicy, with a tasty sauce underneath. The yuzu ramen was light, refreshing, and had a nice citrus aroma. The yuzu soda was a perfect match. I also tried the poke salmon tacos. The shell was extra crispy and the salmon poke inside was flavorful and fresh. The restaurant is clean and modern. Everything came out quickly and the experience was smooth from start to finish. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area!

My friends and I just had the most amazing meal ever at Afuri! The space is big and ambiance elegant. The service is friendly and amazing. Lots of great recommendations were made to tailor to our specific likes. The ramen and broth are made in house and you can taste its freshness. The broth is so comforting that it can cure any blues. They even have Japanese whiskey on tap and it was so crisp and refreshing! This is a MUST TRY!

Afuri ramen + dumpling 61 N 11th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249 @afuriramen_nyc Gingerale across between ginger beer and soda perfet. Yuzu lemonade phenomenal. Both drinks housemade. The mandarin oramge margarita was devine. @teaqune Sweet Tea approved. The dumplings were house made with a crispy bottom and tasty. The hazelnut ramen broth was nutty, thick and delicious. Sweat Tea ordered the Tonkotsu ramen which is the most popular. The Basque cheesecake was delicious 😋. It had merengue candied nuts and lemon curd. Yes please.

Google
Food was great! Stopped here on a work trip - I had the Yuzu Shoyu Ramen! Broth was amazing and I could eat the noodles over and over - so good! Only thing was it took a bit longer to get the food than expected but it did seem to pick up in volume once we had arrived so it’s to be expected. Overall good experience!

Google
A little disappointed that the tonkotsu tantan was lacking some depth of flavour in the broth. However, the yuzu cheesecake was one of the best slices of cheesecake I've ever had - in a light & fluffy Japanese style, with the perfect balance of sweetness and surprisingly layered flavours, plus the crunch of the hazelnuts and soft whipped cream. The yuzu curd is especially phenomenal! Cool ambience & interior design with plenty of seating.

Google
This ramen place really hit the spot. Broth was super flavorful, noodles were on point. The broth just felt comforting and the flavors were so well balanced. My fave is Hazelnut Tantanmen. I also love Ube Milk Tea. So good ! What I like is that all the food is prepared without the use of artificial ingredients such as coloring agents, preservatives and synthetic flavors. Freshly made in front of you when you can enter the venue.

Google
We had a great quick lunch at Afri ramen in Brooklyn. Tonkatu Shio ramen was good, esp the homemade noodles. Buta gyoza was ok, just not what i expected. Ambience is very nice with open kitchen and big bar in the middle. It a great place to get together with friends!

Google
We had an awesome time at Afuri. It is a huge space and there is enough space for your stroller and they have high chairs for your baby as well 👍 Unfortunately we were given a table away from all of the buzz, directly under their air conditioning because they felt our stroller would compromise their walking paths. With so much space, a ridiculous point to make. Other than that, food and drinks were very tasty and the service was quick. I enjoyed their fresh yuzu limeade (very sparkly) and the hazelnut ramen that had just the right crunch and level of spicyness. We’ll be back! Hopefully with better luck in terms of table selection next time.

Yelp
Amazing food as everyone already mentions! Great for a date, friends, or solo, and I'm always impressed how incredibly family friendly this restaurant is. Inside is stroller and big group friendly with spacious seatings and flexible table layout. Crayons, coloring papers, kids folk, spoon, bowl, and chopsticks for the practicing. They have kids menu and kids ramen comes with delicious low fat chicken chasu and no MSG soup in perfect temperature. Kids karaage (Japanese fried chicken) is everyone's favorite. They make noodles fresh in house, just like Afuri in Japan. Great whether you like your ramen light or rich. Great vegan options. I'm so happy that I don't need to go all the way back home to Japan to enjoy an amazing ramen bowl like this. People here are truly kind and passionate about their business. My only complaint is that our family love their ramen so much that even our 1 year old eats 2 kids bowls and sometimes more:) They're already quite popular but I'm a fan and want to see this place do well and last a long time in the neighborhood. What a gem.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing because: 1) serves special yuzu flavored ramen that's unique and delicious. Noodle is freshly made at the restaurant 2) offers authentic shio (salt) and shoyu (soy sauce) ramens, which are hard to find in NY 3) accommodates large groups and is family friendly. They have a kids menu and give crayolas and paper to draw on 4) good bar selection including cocktails 5) super friendly staff 6) has a large selection of amazing appetizers and sides including sushi, dumplings, and many others

Yelp
Love coming to AFURI for a quick meal before I go out in the area. AFURI always hits the spot with its authentic Japanese flavors. Upon walking in, the ambiance is quite the vibe with its spacious dining room and open kitchen. My favorite item on the menu is hands down the Yuzo Shio Ramen, its light yet the citrusy broth is perfectly seasoned - making it a very refreshing yet very satisifying meal. It's honestly perfect any time of the year but will definitely always be my go to in the hotter months of the year - it's very unique and I love that AFURI has this on their menu since most ramen joints, I feel only have a rich and heavy option. AFURI has a great drink selection and they make decent cocktails. In addition, the staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Service has been very quick and on point every time I've come here. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in the area looking for a quick meal or even a relaxed evening out.

Yelp
My friend and I were excited to dine at Afuri! I've heard great things about this Tokyo-based ramen chain. This Brooklyn location is larger than I expected! There is so much space and high ceilings that makes it seem even larger! It was busy and popping during lunch time, and even when we ate at 2pm, it was still nearly a full house! Service was pretty solid - attentive and food came out quickly! We started off with appetizers: Spicy Tori Karaage - 5/5 Would get this again! Boneless wings that are filling and is thinly coated in a flavorful spicy sauce, a spicy sauce that has just enough of a kick but doesn't require one to wash down with water Tuna Tartare - 3/5 Kinda meh and for $20 I can't say I'd order it again. I guess from previous experiences I was expecting tuna to come intact in bite sized pieces but it was all mush. If one thing, it looks pretty! The toppings of the chives and salmon caviar are were okay, but when mixed altogether, I lost the taste of the tuna and the toppings overpowered it rather than enhanced it for me. Also the wonton chips to tartare ratio seemed off to me (i would have loved more chips, and not pay $2 more). We got our ramen order shortly after. I tried the Yuzu Shoyu which was delicious! I usually prefer thick to thin noodles for my ramen, but I actually loved Afuri's thin noodles! I echo the sentiment I read from another review where I was left with more noodles than broth by the end, and didn't finish the noodles (that's how good the broth is!). I preferred to have the broth:noodle ratio a little higher! I also ordered a hot peach ginger tea. It came in such a cute Afuri-branded glass mug that I wanted to buy it for myself (is merch available??) It was a particularly cold day so the hot bowl of ramen and hot tea was a perfect way to finish off the meal! I'd recommend trying the ramen here, and would also come back! Hope to see you again soon, Afuri!

Yelp
Was in the mood for ramen on a cold day. Didn't have a reservation for Saturday lunch but the space is huge and we were easily sat at the bar (the only people sitting there, actually). The playlist overhead is great but if you're looking for a cozy small ramen spot, this isn't it. Started with the karaage. This is always delicious but I really enjoyed it here. Felt like the crispiness was just enough without being too "fried". For ramens, we grabbed the yuzu shio and ratan. The former was a super clean ramen. Personally would have liked it a bit saltier but overall just a fresh and simple dish. The spicy version I preferred as I felt it was a bit more interesting even if it could be spicier. I do think the noodles could bit a bit improved upon in terms of texture. I loved that they came with a huge soup spoon, which is something you don't often see at ramen restaurants. Finally, the amount of meat in each ramen was super lacking, especially for the price. Not sure I would necessarily come back here for ramen given how many other options there are in the area but it was worth the try if you're around.

Yelp
HUGE space with a tall ceiling and lots of natural sunlight. It almost reminds me of a brewery space. I heard tsukemen was the main thing to get at Afuri, so I was excited to try it. However, their dipping sauce is not the traditional heavy, flavorful type. Quite contrarily, it was super light, soy sauce based, and had a TON of yuzu flavor. It was way too sweet for me as well.
google avatar

Eunice C.

Yelp
As a large group with kids, this spot was incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's spacious and comfortable. We ordered a variety of small plates - bok choy, gyoza, and such. All packed a lot of flavor that wasn't too empowering. As for the ramen, I had the yuzu shio - and it was just the perfect balance of yuzu mixed into the broth. My experience was not rushed and was calm. Our wait staff was fantastic and knowledgeable. I do wish the portions were a bit larger but I'd totally come back.

Yelp
Afuri ramen is now open in williamsburg and they serve the most refreshing yuzu ramen. I tried out their ramen for the first time in tokyo and I'm so happy to see they're open in NYC now! You can taste the yuzu notes in their broth, which makes it a lighter broth than other ramen chains. I find most ramen broths too heavy, yet even their tsukemen is still bright and light. I've been multiple times and each time is a delight!

Yelp
Afuri Ramen Plus Dumplings, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love your Brooklyn location. Trendy Williamsburg with tons of artwork on every corner and every available wall, lends itself to an outdoor museum. I love your building. So much space in what appears to be a refurbished warehouse. Almost clinical. Somewhat industrial. (Is that an extension I spy happening next door?) I love your decor. So feng shui-esque with your wood, metal, lights and clean lines. I love your staff. The host was charming. Staff took special care of me. I felt like I was the only person dining. The last time I was there was Tues 27th Aug 2024 and it's now mid October so forgive me if I mix up the names of staff. I think MELAH was my Server. As someone who isn't too familiar with ramen she guided me to what has got to be some of the best shxt I've ever had! Melah Melah Melah kiss your Chef for me won't you. Food came out swiftly (you can see them cooking it in their open kitchen), and the aroma as they approached tickled me and I started dancing in my seat. I absolutely cannot describe my experience with this food. You'd have to try it yourself. I got the food porn vibe. Flavours literally made sexy time in my mouth. KARA (I think Supervisor/Bartender) before making my cocktail, came to find out exactly what my drink range was in order to make my cocktail just right! Like hello! Who does this? I'm feeling myself now. Aaaannnnndddd my drink was delicious! She also shared some history of the franchise and told me about their loyalty program. I signed up immediately. I love. Thank you Afuri, I'll be finding my way back to you babe ... The End

Yelp
Super easy to make a large party reservation on a Friday afternoon (9 people). The staff were nice and accommodating, letting us move our seats to be farther from the window. I ordered the Yuzu Shio and it was definitely Yuzu-y. I don't think I've ever tasted ramen like this before. We also tried the karage and gyoza, which I thought both were ok. Afuri is also incredibly child friendly with crayons and coloring and plenty of high chairs. Service was a bit inconsistent though. Our waiter unfortunately over promised and under delivered, so we constantly had to flag down someone else. Lastly, it can get a bit chilly in there because the space is so big, so I imagine a bit hard to keep warm.

Yelp
If you've had afuri yuzu dip ramen in Japan, this might not quite meet your expectations. While I was excited to try it, I found the yuzu flavor to be quite lacking compared to what I've had before. The dipping broth is also very oily, leaving a heavy coating in the mouth. The chashu wasn't as tender as I'd hoped, and there were a lot of lettuce and bamboo shoots used as fillers. Additionally, the scallop carpaccio was on the smaller side and felt a bit overpriced for what it was. Overall, it wasn't quite what I was looking for, but it might still appeal to those who haven't had a chance to try it in Japan. It is a refreshing ramen!
google avatar

Jorge P.

Yelp
Huge locale great for big groups! Tons of food options, but the ramen is for sure the standout. Don't skip on the appetizers, but the tonkotsu ramen's broth and noodles are both pristine. Highly recommend, is definitely a place I keep coming back to
google avatar

Olivia K.

Yelp
My friends and I gathered for a meetup and reserved a large table on a weekend afternoon. When we arrived, I was surprised to see how spacious the place was. It seemed that they had transformed a warehouse-type space into a very modern/spacious restaurant. They had ample seating. In terms of food: I personally ordered the YUZU RATAN. I've never tasted anything like it. It is ramen with hints of infused yuzu flavor. It's a surprisingly odd combo, but I wasn't mad about it. It made the broth very refreshing and light. The noodles were a bit different in that it was very thin and freshly made. It's definitely worth a try because you won't find anything like this anywhere else. I also got to try their BUTA GYOZA & CRISPY PORK GYOZA. As expected, it was nicely fried and had a crisp to it. The inside tasted great! Can't go bad with gyoza. The BASQUE CHEESECAKE was also really nice finishing touch to the meal. Presentation was excellent and it tasted great as well. Overall, everything was very nicely presented. The flavors were unique. And the classics were great as expected. Had a nice dining experience.

Yelp
When I heard that Afuri Ramen was coming to Williamsburg, I was excited to try it since I had visited one of their locations in Japan. I think the Williamsburg Afuri hits the mark however, there are some improvements that need to be made. I ordered the gyozas, a yuzu lemonade, and the tonkotsu shio ramen. My favorite dish was the gyozas however, the ramen lacked depth of flavor in my opinon. The ambiance was acceptable, but the service was really lacking. I visited when the restaurant was empty, and I felt like the service was non-existent. I had to flag someone down to get my water refilled. I hope this was just an off day for them, but I'm not sure if I will return to find out.
google avatar

Yelp
We love Afuri in Japan (and Portland) and we're excited to find one in Williamsburg. Fantastic ramen broth and noodles in a very upscale feeling spot - just like the Portland location! We came in for a late night meal and grabbed the Yuzu Shio (regular yuzu ramen) and the Yuzu Tsuyu (yuzu tsukumen, or dipping ramen). The Yuzu Tsuyu is the true star, and even though I was SO full, the lightness from the yuzu really does help tonight through the fat. My husband finished the rest of my bowl, but the fact that I ate more than half at 9:30pm speaks highly of this spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on Saturday afternoon. Beautiful setting, tons of space and seating space bring my nephew, for all the people with families. This is very accessible. The fresh scallops with roe was so sweet and tender. But the highlight was yuzu ramen, which was perfect for summer day - sweet, light, such a surprise. And the dipping ramen we got cold, great spice. Would definitely be back for the ramen

Yelp
3.5 stars We loved afuri in Japan and were so excited to hear they opened a space in Brooklyn! First of all, the restaurant is so big! We had no wait on a Saturday night during prime time. They also have a big bar area and would be good to host large parties They're known for yuzu ramen and we really enjoyed the tsukemen dipping style while in Japan. We got both the hot and cold, which I'd recommend if it's your first time We also got the popular pork gyoza (with the skirt, not deep fried) but we weren't impressed. The pork was actually quite dry so I don't think we would get this again. The tsukemen dipping ramen comes with thicker and chewier noodles that you dip in a more concentrated and flavorful cold broth. The texture is really good! The hot one comes with thinner noodles in a hot broth. Both are good but really depends on what you're feeling that day We weren't really feeling the vibe of the place, but that's more just personal preference. I think we were expecting it to feel similar to our experience in Japan

Yelp
A huge new ramen place in Williamsburg. The Afuri chain is popular worldwide for their yuzu ramen and I was excited to learn they were opening a Brooklyn location. I tried the dumplings first and I found them to be nothing special. They were greasy and flavor wise just ok. I will skip them next time I dine here. For Ramen, I ordered the yuzu ratan. It came with a glistening layer of chicken fat which added a beautiful richness to the bowl which was balanced well by the sour, acidic yuzu flavoring and savory soy sauce broth. It was refreshing and addictive and I wanted to drink every drop. The noodles were super chewy, low hydration thin noodles, which were coated in chicken fat with every slurp. I didn't find it to be very spicy, just flavorful and dimensional. The chashu wasn't my favorite, a bit chewy. The egg, however, was well made and I liked the way the rest of the toppings became integrated into the soup as you ate. The servers are very well informed on the menu, helpful and friendly. There's plenty of ramen places in New York City where you can get a very good bowl of standard ramen. In addition to be very good, Afuri's bowl of ramen is unique, inspired and interesting. I will certainly be returning, hopefully soon!

Yelp
Came here and took the chance on this new place. I had no background of this establishment, and only learned they have multiple locations and they started in Japan. They're famous for their yuzu flavouring and I love yuzu. I got the yuzu lemonade but asked the waitress if it's that fake yuzu that people seem do. Because I don't care for the Korean yuja marmalade. She didn't know what I was referencing, but she assured me it wasn't it. It was so refreshing and good. Got the following: Buta gyoza - I always love the gyoza that's pie like. This was good and has nice dipping sauce. yuzu shio - it was nice, just wish there was more noodles. ;) Tonkotsu shio - tasted the broth and it was very flavourful. I might try this next time. Kid Ramen - surprisingly, this was a hit for my friend's LO. They even ate the chicken and drank the broth!!! Amazing. They are such picky eaters. Service was good, but not sure if it is because they're not busy. Want to say the place is massive and so is the restrooms, but my friend did complain why not having changing table available? They totally should add that in since I saw a lot of people with babies here.

Yelp
I was looking forward to checking out this ramen restaurant after seeing it in Japan. There was a long line in Japan so I never got to try it but excited for them to open up a restaurant in Williamsburg! There was no line and seems to be plenty of tables available. The restaurant was quite big. There's restroom stalls in the back of restaurant. Service was alright. Afuri is known for their yuzu ramen so we decided to try the yuzu shio and yuzu shoyu. I was feeling soup that day otherwise I would've gone for the dipping noodles! The noodles took some time to arrive and the portion looked a little smaller to me. I don't have a big appetite but I was able to finish everything including the soup! The soup is very light because of the yuzu flavor and I really enjoyed the light soup. Besides the fact that it was very light, I don't think the flavor was anything too special. It was not bad but I wouldn't say it's the best ramen that I've had. The noodles are also different from the usual ramen noodles but I also liked the uniqueness. We ordered the yuzu cheesecake to share. The yuzu cheesecake was a generous portion! The addition of the hazelnuts were a nice touch. I really enjoyed the yuzu sauce paired with the cheesecake. Overall: unique yuzu flavor ramen that's very light - good ramen but I wouldn't wait in line for it
google avatar

Cita C.

Yelp
We order ramen once a week and this is our go to place. Best in the neighborhood and we especially love the kid's ramen. Clear simple broth with lots of flavor, a dash of garlic, and thin noodles. My kids request it all the time. Everyone is also super friendly when we dined in. The place is huge and great for big groups.
google avatar

El K.

Yelp
Food -tsukemen - opt for cold yuzu tsuyu and totally recommend to anyone. Noodles were chewy and the dipping broth/sauce were flavorful -tonkotsu shio - again, great texture of the noodles, and broth were flavorful, but to me it has a weird after taste that i wasn't keen on. Service: all of the servers were attentive and super nice. They did mention that if you do a quick review and show them, they will reward you with a free cheesecake. Although i'm a food reviewer, i decided not to do it because it was too early for a cheesecake. Ambiance: we had an 11am ressie on a Sat, but looking at the amount of seatings, I don't think you will have an issue without one and just walk-in. 8/10
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
Service for food was super quick. So much seating available inside - I was impressed by just how much space there was. It's the first Afuri location in NY. A must try is the yuzu shio. I got the yuzu shoyu, and could easily taste the yuzu - so good. Also tried their crispy dumplings. I just wanted them extra crisp on the bottom, but I didn't realize it'd be fried. Will have to try the pan fried ones next time.
google avatar

Yelp
This place had great service, a lot of seating indoors and outdoors, and the food was all great. However, I believe that there was great service since not a lot of people were there Friday night. I don't know how long they have been opened. But it seems fairly new still. We didn't make any reservations. However, you can if you want to sit in a certain area. There's counter, bar, communal, and table seating here. Food wise, I learned that everything is made from scratch, even the noodles for the ramen. I was worried that it was fried and prepackaged to be used later, like those instant ones. I got the Yuzu Ratan. It was good, but wished it wasn't spiced to American standards. I did ask for hot sauce and got chili oil, and these two paste. For the side plates, I got for myself the kakuni pork bun and the garlic ginger sui gyoza. Which were all tasty. Last but not least, I got the dessert on the house for writing my very first Google review.

Yelp
I've heard so much about this ramen place from friends and finally got to visit their location in NYC! I visited the second week after they opened. The restaurant is spacious and has an open kitchen where you can see them making ramen and other food items. There is even a bar in the back! I am a person who doesn't like thick and heavy ramen. Yuzu Shio is my favorite, which is light and refreshing! Their gyoza is juicy not dry at all. Overall I would say that this place definitely hit my top 3 ramen place in nyc! Follow my Instagram @whatsuprosienyc for more!

Yelp
I came with friends on a weekday night and with a reservation and we were seated right away. The place is so spacious and there's plenty of tables that we probably didn't even need a reservation. I enjoyed the high ceilings and bar tables decor. We sat in the booth by the wall which gave us a lot of privacy. The server was helpful and super friendly. The other staff who also served us the drinks and food were also very friendly. They always made an effort to make small talk with us. My group ordered the Crispy Hotate Gyoza Tostada with Scallop, Yuzu-Tsuyu, and Tonkotsu Shoyu. The crispy gyoza tostada was made of crispy dumpling wrappers and topped its scallops, micro greens, tobiko and more. The crispy wrapper was delicious but the overall dish was a little too salty. We ordered the Yuzu-Tsuyu with warm noodles and dipping sauce. The noodles are al dente. The sauce was not too overwhelming with the yuzu sauce. It was a tasty dish. The Tonkotsu Shoyu was a soup broth and great tasting. The Yuzu cheesecake was so delicious! Would highly recommend

Yelp
Decided to try Afuri's first East coast location and was blown away by the quality of both the ramen and the dumplings. My friend and I ended up splitting the spicy tori karaage and crispy buta gyoza, and then I got a kara-tsuyu tsukemen and my friend got the yuzu shio ramen - everything we had was incredible! The service was very friendly and the manager even gave us a tour of where all the ramen making magic happens - was a really cool experience! The space itself is massive with plenty of bar seats as well as sit down tables. Seems like could be good for groups and dates alike. I am already excited to go back!

Yelp
TLDR: AFURI from Japan has arrived in NYC. Stick with the Spicy Tori Karaage and the Buta Gyoza for apps. Yuzu Rattan for the ramen! Don't skip that Basque cheesecake on the way out. Opening night. When I heard AFURI was opening up in BK, I was stoked. AFURI in Tokyo we visited again when we were last in Japan. The spot is huge, really high ceilings. Design-wise, kind of reminds me of Tsujita in Fort Lee but a more urban chic and darker. Food-wise. We got both the Buta Gyoza and Crispy Buta Gyoza. The Buta Gyoza is your more traditional pan-fried style with the hat on top. The Crispy Buta Gyoza will remind you more of a fried dumpling/empanada but there's this DIY spicy mayo situation going on. Spicy Tori Karaage. Think fried chicken but tossed in sauce on top of the spicy mayo and chili threads. Of the apps, the karaage was the strongest. The noodles. They make their own noodles in-house which you can taste easily. It's got this chew to it, it's silky and has a great bite. The Yuzu Rattan is the crowd favorite at most locations but the Yuzu Shio is what their signature broth is. Instead of tonkotsu (they also have that and I'm interested to try) shio is salt-based instead of pork bones. So what you get is a cleaner more delicate broth and the yuzu is a nice citrus twist. It's not quite as spicy as the one in Tokyo but it was solid. The Kara-Tsuyu is their tsukemen. The noodles are thicker and I'd recommend you can them cold for the better texture. Between the kakuni pork and the dipping broth, this will be a bit on the sweeter side. So if you like that sweet/savory element - this is a great choice. The basque cheesecake was great. They incorporated the yuzu here too to help balance out the cheesecake and probably one of the better desserts I've had recently. Opening night so probably a bit of a learning curve but overall a great addition to the neighborhood. We shall return.

Yelp
Finally, a ramen place to write home about. For those seeking a good yuzu ramen place, you've found it. The broth is rich and yet delicate, with the "mouth feel" that so many ramen places can't quite achieve. My girlfriend has yuzu shio and I had yuzu ratan. The yuzu ratan was good but I liked the shio much more - and I'm the type of person who loves everything spicy. The ramen eggs were well cooked and so were the deep fried ramen eggs. I would recommend sitting at the counter top, they have an open kitchen lay out and you can admire their industrial ramen equipment.

Yelp
Afuri is so unique because the broth is yuzu infused. We got the yuzu shio and yuzu dripping - the dipping noodles were super flavorful. We also really liked the spicy scallop hand roll!

Yelp
Food: Excellent yuzu-flavored ramen with a unique, delicious broth. Nice, fresh thin noodles. Different from traditional broths but still satisfying. After hearing praise for Afuri in Japan, I was eager to try their new Williamsburg branch. The takoyaki starter was perfectly fried. Large, well-filled balls with a good octopus ratio, accompanied by complimentary dipping sauces. The dumplings were also crispy and flavorful. Service: Service was generally good, though occasionally it took time to get a waiter's attention. Ambiance: Spacious restaurant in a converted warehouse loft. Ample seating with online reservation options. The bar area seemed ideal for a quick drink and bite.

Yelp
A solid 4.5 stars~ food and menu simply amazing. Gyoza dish delicious with the sauce. I had the yuzu tsukemen and trust me when I say this is the one to get because it was super flavorful and delicious with the lovely citrusly yuzu flavor makes you want to order another bowl! Decor of the space is large industrial lofty space with well lit tables and chairs. Docked the half star as the food does take a while to come out... but staff are really nice about it and have apologized for the wait. I'll chock it up to new restaurant things that will hopefully solve itself for future visits!

Yelp
This place is massive! I haven't seen a restaurant this big in a while let alone a ramen restaurant this big. There is a section in the back where they make their noodles in house. We came here on a weeknight and there was happy hour until 7pm. The happy hour specials were really affordable. Some appetizers were from $5-$8 and drinks were $10. We ordered the spicy karage to share and I got the tonkotsu ramen. Both were good. And we also shared the cheesecake, and they put a candle on it for my friend's birthday which was very nice and accommodating. Overall the service was great and the food was good. Not the best ramen I've ever had but still good.

Yelp
Wow, I'm totally blown away! Ramen like this is a whole new experience for me. The flavors were so fresh and delicious, and the drinks were just what I needed. The service at the bar was top-notch. I highly recommend this place for an amazing ramen and drinks experience!

Yelp
I had the tonkatsu ramen with the spicy karrage chicken. They broth were delicious and loved the noodles! Another great ramen place to add to my rotation! We also had the afuri roll which was fresh. Loved the service and ambiance as well. Staff was very welcoming and attentive!

Yelp
Came at late night around 10:20pm after a drink event nearby, it is such a nice place with a menu with everything you would wish for from a ramen restaurant. The shoyu broth of the ramen is rich but also easy on the tongue. I usually don't like chicken chashu so much - but this one is really tender and goes so well with the broth and ramen. The gyozas are also delicious. Would definitely want to visit again when I am in the area next time.

Yelp
We ordered the Buta Gyoza, Yuzu Ratan, and Yuzu Tsuyu. The tsukemen was absolutely perfect for the 75-degree weather--so refreshing, with a vibrant yuzu flavor that's not commonly found in ramen as broth. It was really delicious and a unique twist on a classic dish. One of my friends told me this ramen shop has always been her go-to spot whenever she visits Japan, so she was thrilled when they opened a location in New York. This location is massive, with a warehouse-like interior featuring multiple sections and large seating areas. I'm not entirely sure why they need such a huge space, but I'm not complaining--no wait times here! The staff was friendly, and it seems like they've hired plenty of them to keep things running smoothly. Overall, a great experience!

Yelp
Everything here is good. I really love their ramen and broth. It feels light and the taste is just unique. Also, their dumplings are very good. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a ramen spot near Williamsburg. Atmosphere inside is quite spacious. The staff who took my order is friendly and respectful. He gave me recommendations of what to order in the menu.

Yelp
Super spacious restaurant with high ceilings and big windows. The servers are very friendly and helpful. The tonkotsu ramen toppings were very good, fairly classic. My only complaint is that the broth was a tad oily for my taste.

Yelp
My husband and I went for the first time on Saturday, and he's already told me twice he wants to go back. I'm from Brooklyn but hadn't been to Williamsburg in 20 years. I never went to Williamsburg as it started getting insanely popular. I've been seeing some restaurants and pizza joints pop up on my insta feed and decided it was finally time to get back there and try some of the food I've been hearing so much about. We arrived at Afuri around 2:30-3, and there was plenty of seating available. It's a pretty big space but I'm sure it gets busy at night. I mostly decided on Afuri because I wanted gyoza, and we got an order to start with our cocktails. The gyoza were very tasty and crispy with the crunchy cornstarch skirt. Our cocktails were good, I got the strawberry shishito drink and my husband got the momo; I liked his better and got one for round two. I got the spicy tsukemen which was very tasty. I was honestly already kind of full by the time the ramen arrived so I didn't eat a lot of mine, but my husband got one of the yuzu ramen and he ate and slurped every last drop. Next time I'd try the tonkotsu tantan. We decided to catch a movie at 6 in the neighborhood so we were lingering over our food and drinks. We had turned down dessert but one of the staff (owner, manager, shift supervisor maybe?) brought over their yuzu basque cheesecake on the house. It.was.so.good. The creaminess of the cheesecake was perfectly balanced by the tartness of the yuzu. I had just had some basque cheesecake earlier in the week which had been pretty dry, so it was a nice contrast. The meal was pricey-ish, but we got four cocktails between us, and ramen in the states is always pricey. Not only would I go back, but my husband loved his ramen so much I imagine we'll be making a return trip fairly soon!

Yelp
Granted they have only been open since March 2024, but it's not good. Had the Pork deep fried dumplings Pork pan seared dumplings Yuzu shio ramen Pork donburi Tofu salad Edamame The deep fried dumplings were the best dish and then the rest were disappointing. The tofu salad came with strawberries which didn't really go well with the tofu dressing. The Yuzu ramen had very little yuzu flavor but the worst thing is it only came with 1 thin slice of pork. The pork donburi was odd in that the rice was very dry yet mushy and the pork was dry. I was expecting something more like a chicken donburi which is a little saucy. The pan fried dumplings were a mess and feel apart as soon as you picked them up. Also the entire front of the restaurant is lit by blue neon that makes everyone look like an alien. It's not flattering at all

Yelp
Although dinner with my friend didn't run smoothly, the staff at Afuri made sure to rectify the issue. Our server gave us good recs - definitely try out the gyoza & the limeade. The ramen & tsukemen are pretty solid. And hands down, I LOVED the addition of the yuzu component to a lot of their dishes - that added citrusy kick is for sure refreshing! I have been looking forward to Afuri opening up in NYC & I'm so glad I got to try it! I will definitely be back for more knowing that it's in Williesburg!

Yelp
Get their Tsukemen! Yuzu and spicy are incredibly refreshing on a hot summer day. Love the interior too, spacious and modern. Will be back to try their ramen!

Yelp
I've been to the Azabu and Harajuku locations, and the Brooklyn branch comes pretty close in flavor. The main differences are that the menma isn't as good, and they use frisée instead of mizuna. On the plus side, they make their own noodles in-house rather than sourcing from Sun Noodle. The service here is also very good. Tried the Tsukemen and Shio bowls, both reasonably priced compared to Ippudo.

Yelp
Workers are extremely attentive to their customers, walking in-- they greeted us with kindness. Food is really ! My friends and I got the karaage to start and it was super juicy and tender. For main entrees, I go the chashu men-- broth was rich and the noodles with fresh. I usually am iffy about meat in ramen because it's often hit or miss at places I eat but it was pretty good! Recommend stopping by if you are in the neighborhood

Yelp
Really good ramen! Got the yuzu ratan and it was a good balance of yuzu to spiciness. The ambiance is really nice, an industrial type look. There is lots of seating and very cute bar area. Would love to come back to try more noodles and drinks here.

Yelp
A relatively new and upcoming hotspot for your dumpling and ramen fix! Relatively well-known in Japan and I'm glad we got to try it here! Since they opened not too long ago, I'm sure there are some kinks to be worked through and our dining experience definitely highlighted some of those kinks. Let's start with aesthetics. The area we sat at was in front of the bright blue neon sign, which although was pretty made all our pictures so blue, as evident in the pictures lol however, once you walk further in the dining experience transforms into one that's more elegant and classy, with minimalistic designs that provides a warm undertone. Asides from the lights, the air conditioning at our area was not that strong, which was due to their air conditioning unit being placed higher than the others. Just two minor detractions here. Now service was amazing, one of the staff was friendly and warm; he even remedied a mistake the kitchen made seamlessly! The only issue I noticed is that the waiters bringing the food didn't know what belonged to who, so for most of our 20ish orders/appetizers, they had to ask every time what went where. A easy fix is to mark the orders better in a seat format! Appetizer: Hotate carpaccio was flavorful but quite thin, making the bites not meaty enough to enjoy its refreshing flavor profile (2/5). Takoyaki was relatively simple and the yuzu egg salad it was placed on didn't really add to it since it was so minced, so perhaps adding more egg salad would make it more enjoyable (2.5/5). Tori kaarage was crunchy and moist, but can use more yuzu egg salad (3/5). Buta gyoza was thinly crisped on top but incredibly soft on the bottom that it torn easily and the sauce stuck to the soft side and made it extra salty. My family had the spicy one and that was crisped all throughout which made it more enjoyable (1.5/5). Aburi koro chasu don came with mushy rice which aligned with other diners. There weren't a lot of pork and some of the pieces were overly charred, making it less enjoyable and overpowered by the amount and texture of the rice (2/5). For main entree, I just wanna say PLEASE GET THE YUZU-TSUYU TSUKEMEN! It's so fresh and combined so perfectly creamy that it was by far one of the best tsukemen I ever had! Most tsukemen is overly rich and salty because it's a dipping ramen, but this one was a perfectly balanced flavor between its salty, creamy, and refreshing yuzu flavor profile! My main concern was that for 4 dollars you get one thin slice of chasu. Most place aren't that stingy, so if anything please make it 5 dollars and give people two slices, that way people won't feel like they're getting ripped off or feel that Afuri is overpriced. The cocktail was also so small that it didn't feel impactful for the price, which you can see its comparison with the size of a fork in the pictures. Overall, the yuzu tsuyu tsukemen was the most memorable and would definitely come back again for it! I hope the other issues can be addressed, for it's relatively simple to fix them to enhance the dining experience even more! Rating this time is 3.5 stars, but I can't wait to come back to hopefully change it to 5 stars next time! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Yelp
We walked in on a Saturday early evening without a reservation, and there were plenty of seats. The space is large and modern. My partner really enjoyed the food and would come back. The crispy buta gyoza came out fresh from the fryer. We enjoyed our ramen. The noodles were nice and firm. I got the yuzu shoyu ramen which was nice and light compared to the tonkotsu.
