The 15 Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants in Orange County | Eater LA

"Despite opening during the peak of the pandemic, Arisu Korean BBQ has since made a name for itself due to a commitment to superb meat quality. In fact, the owners source only USDA prime beef by visiting different suppliers and hand-selecting the meat each week. The boneless short rib, non-marinated bone-in short rib, and brisket are the most popular cuts, while the buckwheat cold noodles are also a frequent and sensible add-on to the end of the meal. And for an extra taste of Korean culture, Arisu taps into history with an interior that is mapped out into kingdoms from ancient Korea." - Cathy Park

Wine Pairing Ideas for 5 Essential Asian Dishes

"The difficulty in pairing Korean barbecue is not so much the grilled meats but its accompaniments such as kimchi. I would look for a wine with good acidity and softer tannins as firm tannins and spice are not a good combination. Syrah/Shiraz has the natural spice to counter the spice in kimchi—Australia’s Barossa produces some great wines but now Chile is also producing some exceptional Syrah such as Matetic EQ from the San Antonio Valley with its bold black fruits, violet and spice aromas, and smoothly elegant tannins. Otherwise, go for the La Chamiza Martin Alsina Malbec from the Uco region of Argentina, another country very well known for its barbecue. This wine comes from vines which are almost 100 years old and the naturally low yields produce deep concentration, perfectly ripe red fruits and silky tannins, but with a freshness from the acidity that cuts through the fat of the Korean barbecued pork or beef." - Rachel Tan

Not AYCE—by design. Arisu focuses on prime cuts and careful grilling, attracting diners who prefer quality over quantity. A thoughtful, quieter alternative often noted by OC roundups.

Hands down one of the best Korean BBQ spots I've been to in OC! The meat quality is top-notch in freshness and texture. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, perfect for both groups and date nights. The staff is also really friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to and recommending to friends!

Can have some loud and obnoxious patrons but nothing on the restraunt. Meat quality was above average. The server does cut the meat for you which is nice. Banchan was solid and worth eating. Ask for the rice wraps!

Very good korean bbq, good quality meat. I would compare this spot to the more popular Baekjong. My favorite cut was definitely the boneless short rib—super tender and juicy. Their radish kimchi looked different than the usual and was my favorite out of all the banchan. They also gave a cabbage pancake which was new to me but I am so glad they did because that was pleasantly savory and delicious. The soybean stew was very salty, I could not eat it personally, and they surprisingly don’t offer rice paper here. Aside from that, this was a great experience overall. Good service, they grill it for you perfectly. I like how the noise level is moderate unlike some kbbq spots that bump music too loud. The menu has a lot of variety in which I don’t see at other non-ayce kbbqs. I would definitely recommend to others to try Arisu kbbq if you’re craving kbbq and want to try a different spot!

Walking into Arisu felt like stepping into Seoul — not the touristy parts, but the places locals keep to themselves. On a busy afternoon, I was one of the few non-Korean diners in the room, which to me is always a sign that the food is the real deal. The banchan is fresh and plentiful — from crisp, spicy kimchi to the creamy potato salad that’s strangely addictive. The bulgogi arrives sizzling, tender, and perfectly seasoned, and the naengmyeon is icy, tangy, and refreshing, the perfect counterpoint to the grill’s heat. Service is efficient but warm, the space is spotless, and the atmosphere buzzes with that mix of conversation, clinking chopsticks, and grilling meat that makes you want to linger. Arisu doesn’t just serve food — it serves a little pocket of Korea, right here.

The food was good! I had a Small Combo that comes with brisket, pork belly, and pork jowl as well as a choice of soup and two bowls of rice. All the side dishes were great! I liked that they grilled barbeque while giving us enough time to enjoy the food and conversation. The Napa cabbage pancakes that came with the combo was great as well! Make sure to try it with the dipping sauce.

I came herI visited California for an event and had the chance to stop by this place for dinner — and I’m so glad I did! The food was absolutely delicious and matched my taste perfectly. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. I honestly wish we had a restaurant like this back home in Boston. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking it out — it’s definitely a hidden gem!
