"Following the departure of its executive chef and partner, Brett Cooper, chef/restaurateur Daniel Patterson has decided to close Michelin-starred Aster in the Mission. Aster closed after Cooper’s last service on March 30 after four years in business." - Ellen Fort

"Ring in the New Year with a Michelin-starred meal at Aster, which is offering a six-course, $145 first seating with the likes of black truffle gougeres and gnocchi with Dungeness crab, pomelo, and caramelized crab cream; and a second seating at $185, which also includes an extra surprise course and glass of Champagne." - Janelle Bitker

Along with his team of chefs, Cooper delivers some of the most creative takes on Bay Area produce to diners five nights a week, and paired with a wine menu led by Kim Stone." - Marguerite Imbert

"Brett Cooper’s inventive interpretations of Bay Area produce caught the eye of our inspectors just six months after opening in March 2015. Aster has held one Michelin star every year since, an accolade which inspires Cooper and his team to be at their best. Aster sits on a charming corner in San Francisco’s Mission District and serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday. This summer, the restaurant expanded its tasting menu from four to seven courses." - Marguerite Imbert

"Chef Brett Cooper is expanding his tasting menu at his 2015-opened, vegetable-starring Mission District restaurant. The new menu at Aster, which the kitchen is subbing in today, is seven courses rather than four, and it’s $135 plus an optional $79 wine pairing." - Caleb Pershan

Everything we tried tasted really good and had bold (buy not overpowering) flavors. The atmosphere is really chill. The music isn't too loud and the space has a warm feeling. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we went on a Monday night. The servers were friendly but didn't explain the menu or how things were prepared unless asked specifically. Their explanations were fairly brief when asked. The pork was exceptional as well as the egg and roe dish. I liked the chocolate and Carmel dessert too. I would definitely recommend this place for a fancier but relax meal.

Amazing food. Every dish was delicious and well presented. They offered a wine pairing that worked out most of the time. We had two vegetarians in our group, and they were delighted with the caliber of dishes the chef prepared. Would definitely eat at Aster's again.

Good service. Nice atmosphere. The food is a little overrated. It's good, but not exceptional. The ingredients used are seasonal and fresh and the dishes are imaginative. Some of the dishes (the egg and the chocolate) were a little more herbaceous than I would have liked. This is a fun place for a date.

This place has thought through everything. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the servers would explain each dish to each individual person as they were served (which was a lot out of a 4 course meal). Every component of the dishes was carefully crafted and extremely high quality. Definitely recommend this place for special occasions or a nice dinner out!

This is one of the best restaurants in the city and highly underrated. The four course menu is very reasonablly priced given the quality, plating and flavor of the dishes. Service is attentive and not too over the top, definitely not intimidating like other Michelin starred restaurants! Love that the kitchen is exposed so you can see your food being made through the whole process.

Highly recommend the flexible prix five menu. Great though has been put into the details, such as the wine pairing across the 16 possible dishes. The staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly. The way they described the food made me want to scarf everything down immediately.

Beautiful food, fantastic flavors, friendly staff. The pick your own course option was very reasonably priced for what we received. Made my birthday very memorable.

I went here for brunch and it was absolutely amazing. The menu is small but anyone could find something to love on it. The dishes are a very high end, creative take on brunch and they tasted amazing. I would absolutely recommend.
