As a Melanated, Multi-Racial Man of Color, It is extremely important to me to support African American businesses, That being said when Binky's Eatery opened, I supported them with all enthusiasm. However, on Tuesday evening April 18th, 2023, At approximately 6 PM, I ordered the chef special, which was suggested and recommended by the Owner and "chef" And I use Both Terms advisedly. The special was " Salisbury's steak", over a bed of yellow rice, which i waited an extra twenty minutes for, because they had run out, My sides were Collard greens, Macaroni and cheese and candied yams, notably the yams and collards were fine--no complaints, However, The Salisbury steak was so hard, it literally broke my Knife and fork, The macaroni and cheese had a foul taste and odor as if the cheese or the milk was spoiled. I attempted to call the restaurant , however I got a voicemail that would not allow me to leave messages, Subsequently today I stopped by the restaurant to share my thoughts and experience with chef and owner , who
became immediately Defensive, Denying my experience And to add insult to injury, he walked away to greet 3 other guests, who had never eaten there before and left me waiting for a sum total of 4 minutes, When he finally returned, he only continued to deny and defend, arrogantly telling me that they do not give out refunds, I reminded him, that I never asked for a refund. The food and service is horrible. Any Five year old can do a better job, And to Add insult to injury, we're dealing with potential serve-safe issues, Spoiled milk and/or cheese, Combined with Salisbury steak one could use as a weapon.
BOTTOM LINE, if you haven't eaten there, do yourself a favor..... DON'T!!!!!!!!!
The food is terrible and potentially dangerous!
The staff and the owners have A VILE ATTITUDE
And you run the risk of being robbed and assaulted based on the elements hanging out directly in front of the restaurant.
Ironically, as I left binkys, I met a woman, who told me she ate there twice, "the first time was fine", she said, "but the second time was nasty" she stated, "The food was overcooked and had no taste", the lady said.
I understood completely what that lady meant and though I'm not sure what Culinary school the owners attended,, they should go back IMMEDIATELY and DEMAND A REFUND!!!!!!!!!
Just because you have made an item or two that your family tells you they love, doesn't make you a chef! It is more than clear, in fact it's palpable these are not chefs, arguably they are not the greatest cooks, with no clue about (carry over cooking), (time and temperature) (mis en place) as well as a host if things a real chef would know, for example: adding breadcrumbs and heavy cream to your protein to make it moist. That little tip is free, I graduated With a Bachelors of Science from Culinary School with honors, I also work in hospitality, where my guests are always right, which explains my success...
Atlanta Restaurants, have the life of a Medfly, and word of mouth travels, especially when a cook doesnt have the ability to turn out consistently great food and when it's brought to their attention, they arrogantly defend and deny. SMH, it's sad.....
Any Charlatan can sell someone a plate of food, getting them to return requires deft ability, customer service and skill. It's clear Binky's Eatery has not one of those qualities....
