"What It Is: A casual LES cocktail bar with dumplings and hot dogs Perfect For: Early In The Game Dates, Eating At The Bar We aren’t sure if the name is a reference to the song by The Cure or the 1999 movie starring Hilary Swank, but, either way, Boys Don’t Cry is mostly just a normal bar. It’s a little room on Orchard Street (next to Scarr’s Pizza), and it has a long bar and a couple of booths. They do, however, serve some dumplings (from Nom Wah), and we had some alongside a cocktail. We also like the fact that there’s a TV behind the bar for watching sports when you don’t want to talk to whoever you’re drinking with. The Verdict: A nice place for a casual cocktail on the Lower East Side, but nothing special." - Hannah Albertine, Bryan Kim, Katherine Lewin, Hillary Reinsberg, Chris Stang

"Despite the name that suggests that this place might either be a Cure tribute bar or some kind of gym where Rocky would train, Boys Don’t Cry is just a normal place to have cocktail. It’s a little bar on Orchard Street in the southern part of the Lower East Side, and it has a bar, a few booths, and some snacks like Nom Wah dumplings and hot dogs. You don’t necessarily need to make any weekend plans here, but if you live or work in the area, it’s a good place for a casual drink. You could also try having a first date here. The cocktails are good, and it shouldn’t be insanely busy." - Bryan Kim

"Boys Don’t Cry is a Lower East Side bar, replacing Nom Wah Tu, owned by Wilson Tang. Located at 22 Orchard St. between Hester and Canal streets, it offers a drink menu with a rotation of draft, bottled, and canned beers, including a rose cider. Cocktails include French 75, old fashioned, manhattan, and gimlet. The food menu features snacks like dumplings and hot dogs. The bar aims for a strong vibe with neon signage, as mentioned on its Instagram. The venue accepts bitcoin, though hours are still being finalized." - Stefanie Tuder

Great vibes and food. Staff here are attentive and super friendly. Very laid back space to hang with friends, albeit loud with the music in the background to hear clearly. Come early, by 7 on a work night it was busy with the locals stopping by. There is bar seating, a couple booth and communal seating in the back. The AC was blasting on a hot NYC evening which is a blessing. Ordered the dumpling, and mapo tofu which is a rice dish and meal in itself. Went well with my nicely balanced gimlet!

I came here for the chicken wing competition, i arrived at 1pm but it had not started we left and came back an hour later. Nice spot bartender wasnt attentive but she was nice. The event turned out very nice i enjoyed the fact that we could vote for the chef that made the best wings. Will be back again this Sunday 11/24 for the championship.

A great ambiance...loud music and a tv to watch. Drinks are powerful and the service is fantastic. A friendly place to hang out. It's a small space but that doesn't mean you can't have a great time.

I've come here twice and enjoyed it both times, it's a place that's gone into my regular rotation of spots in the area. The drinks are great (good happy hour deals) and the food menu is really unique, like a hotdog wrapped in a scallion pancake. Loved all of it, I think we've taste the whole menu by now (very small) and enjoyed all of it. It's typically not crowded in the after work time, 5-8. The ambiance is great too, it's a good place to go if you'd like to chat with friends, the staff were super friendly.

I came here for trivia night last week. It's a total blast. Lots of basketball things all over the wall and graffiti and a cool neon wall in the back. This space is a good size - not too small or large and it wasn't super crowded the night we went. It's a little tricky to find - actually in Chinatown. I'll be back for trivia no doubt.

Very intimate setting, great decor. As a visitor I definitely appreciate the level of customer service. Highly recommend their house Old Fashion! All around great experience from food, drinks, music, conversation. Home away from home.

Cozy lower east side gem. Welcoming staff, delicious (and unique) food menu, wide variety of drafts/drinks, and music that’s always on point. What more can you ask for? Try the shrimp dumplings

Great place. Fantastic environment. Good place to know in the neighborhood. Couple of large televisions. I'll definitely be back with my crew!
