Boys Don’t Cry

"What It Is: A casual LES cocktail bar with dumplings and hot dogs Perfect For: Early In The Game Dates, Eating At The Bar We aren’t sure if the name is a reference to the song by The Cure or the 1999 movie starring Hilary Swank, but, either way, Boys Don’t Cry is mostly just a normal bar. It’s a little room on Orchard Street (next to Scarr’s Pizza), and it has a long bar and a couple of booths. They do, however, serve some dumplings (from Nom Wah), and we had some alongside a cocktail. We also like the fact that there’s a TV behind the bar for watching sports when you don’t want to talk to whoever you’re drinking with. The Verdict: A nice place for a casual cocktail on the Lower East Side, but nothing special." - Hannah Albertine, Bryan Kim, Katherine Lewin, Hillary Reinsberg, Chris Stang
