Brat x Climpson’s Arch combines a lively atmosphere with seasonal wood-fired fare, crafted cocktails, and friendly service for an unforgettable dining experience.
"Brat’s now permanent spot at at Climpson’s Arch is one of the places to be, rain or shine, during the British summer. All the Basque grill favourites feature here: charred anchovy-topped flatbread, those smoky potatoes, vinegar-tinged turbot, John Dory, and even something new: pot chicken rice. Only this time you’ll be enjoying it in an outdoor courtyard protected from the heavens." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Brat’s location in London Fields is one of the places to be, rain or shine, during the British summer, spring, or any season. The Basque grill-inspired restaurant is a relatively bougie take on barbecue. Sure, you’re sitting in a glorified gazebo but the open flames from the kitchen are hitting charred anchovy-topped flatbread, smoky potatoes, and whole vinegar-washed turbot. The combination of the paired-back courtyard setting and high-end flame-cooked food make for one of London’s best barbecue-ish experiences. "It’s not that we’re saying that we love Brat’s whole turbot more than 90% of our friends. But we’re not not saying that. Judging us? That’s okay. We’d judge us too, right up until the moment where you’re met by an epiphany in fish form. But Brat’s turbot isn’t the only thing on the menu you should be getting involved in, they also serve some of London’s best bread. Find them throughout August at their al fresco pop up at Climpson’s Arch." - heidi lauth beasley
"Brat’s location in a London Fields railway arch has a decidedly more casual feel than its original Shoreditch sibling. Part greenhouse, part deluxe BBQ, and part future dry-cleaning bill, there’s a relaxed attitude to this space that suits bigger groups and louder voices. The chalkboard menu of Basque-inspired dishes is largely the same—famous flatbreads, a grilled john dory, chicken rice, and cheesecake—but this restaurant feels like a very different beast. photo credit: Brat Plastic chairs scrape along the tarmac floor in the main indoor-outdoor dining room, smoke billows from its grills, and the bar always seems to be shaking something. Sitting on school chairs while paying not-insignificant prices isn’t for everyone. So it’s a good thing that the back dining room is more straightforwardly comfortable. A long wooden bar, stable chairs, and the same excellent wine list are all present. The food doesn’t quite hit the heights as the original, but this restaurant feels like it's serving a different kind of crowd—and they’re just as thirsty as they are hungry." - Jake Missing
