"East Village spot the Brindle Room, known for its caramelized onion-topped burgers, is returning to neighborhood this spring. EV Grieve reports that the restaurant and bar is headed to the former location of Virginia’s, at 647 East 11th Street, near Avenue C, which shuttered earlier last month. Brindle Room had been at its previous location at 277 East 10th Street, between Avenue A and First Avenue, for 11 years. Owner Jeremy Spector closed the spot in spring of 2020, after attempting takeout during the first couple months of the pandemic." - Emma Orlow

Hands down some of the best food I’ve had in a while!! The steak was so juicy and flavorful I could’ve eaten like five of them!! Truly the food did not disappoint at all so kudos to the chef 🙌🏻🙌🏻 It’s such a cute place I highly recommend coming to grab a bite and some drinks to catch up with friends

Google
Food was great. Dates and sprouts for starters. Burgers, truffle fries and steak for dinner. We all loved every bite. There were not many people there when we got there at 7:30. The service was fast and attentive. The restaurant holds maybe 50 and by the end it was 1/3 full. Still plenty of room. We went on a Tuesday night in early spring. We would highly recommend.

Google
There is a lot to be said for a well curated menu, a good atmosphere, a chef and owner who welcomes you to dine, and quality atmosphere and ingredients. This feels like a right proper bistro, and if I lived in the neighborhood I would absolutely make it a regular visit.

Google
A sweet space. The new space is bigger than the last and it’s lost some of the cozier vibes, but it’s great to sit down and not need a reservation. The short rib was awesome! I loved the potatoes. The Burger is also a slam dunk, simple but delicious. OMG the Brussels sprouts!!! Get these if nothing else! The wait staff was a bit spotty, the hostess was very eager but kind enough. The waiter was attentive but gave us time to actually talk to each other even after the meal was finished. Overall an excellent lil spot.

Google
Incredible service and delicious food! I would 10/10 recommend. Their espresso martini is delicious and the vibe is perfect for a date or friends going out! If you’re there ask for Emily Mack! She’s amazing!

Google
Have a delicious burger, but they are still closed. Hoping they reopen. Stopped by and read sign on door. Looks like they were hoping to complete renovations in the summer. Will stop by again when open.

Google
Great food and an cozy yet lively atmosphere. Only seats about 30 or some people, so every order gets the chefs full attention. I tried the burger (amazing), my mom had the scallops and butternut squash (amazing), and my sister went with the blueplate sliced prime rib special (also on point). Will absolutely be back again! Sorry, the pictures kinda suck. Was too excited to get eating!

Google
Layout/atmosphere *Seven tables and bar area in back; side room with nine additional tables; covered outdoor dining structure in street Service *Friendly Food/drink *Sebastian’s Steakhouse Burger (served medium with American cheese & caramelized onions) with french fries - good; smaller portion; not “best burger” category but nothing bad about the burger overall; the fries were good, salted; hot sauce accompaniment was solid

Yelp
The best and most consistent burger in the City. I've seen a lot of reviews say they weren't sure about this place because it looked empty. A few things to note here, they moved to a larger size dining room, but also, they were closed for much of covid and most people don't realize it re-opened. Pre-covid this was actually a difficult place to get a seat at consistently. I have no doubt they'll be super busy yet again, but until then, enjoy the no wait times for a table and the food. It really is fantastic and very affordable. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
5 Stars to a lovely lady named Tiavonni and the nice bartender at The Brindle Room. I came rushing in asking for some Juniors Cheesecake for my hubby and let them know I had a flight Boarding. So you Ms Tiavonni rushed back and made sure the two slices were packed properly for the flight and added napkins and spoons. Thank you both for saving the day! The 2 slices made it across to the West Coast just fine!

Olivia R.

Yelp
Came here at 7pm on a Thursday and we were a little concerned because the Italian place next store was soooo busy and this place was empty, but we decided to stick with it. Thank god we did! The bacon wrapped dates were to die for and my boyfriend loved his burger. The fries were some of the best either of us have ever had - perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside.

Yelp
The Brindle Room is an incredible neighborhood restaurant in alphabet city! With cozy and intimate vibes, superb service, and delicious food this place does everything right. Some of the highlights included the steak frites and the burger! With very reasonable prices and extremely friendly staff, it's easy to come to this place routinely!

Yelp
We always enjoyed the Brindle Room as recently as May 2024, but they have CLOSED! We have tried repeatedly to eat there since but have found the place closed with an apology note on their window saying they'll be open at the end of July. It is now the second week into September and they are still closed. Their website gives no indication that they are closed. There's no notice online at all. However, there is a restaurant next door that seems to be enjoying the overflow of disappointed customers from the Brindle Room. Very unfair to what had been loyal customers. No idea how Travis R. got a burger there in August - they were closed!

Mary G.

Yelp
delicious blue cheese burger and salmon entree!! The service was excellent and so was the vibes. The Brussels sprouts were a large portion with a dipping sauce. Definitely will be coming back

Andy L.

Yelp
Missed this place and so happy it opened up again. My roomates and I used to get delivery from them everytime and glad we finally went to dine-in. Small space where Virginia's used to be. Appetizers were on point and the drinks were great to start with. Then came the burger and it seems like it even got better than last time with the patty being thicker now. Was very juicy with the caramelized onions and the melted cheese. Bolognes was also a hit. Service was great and attentive. Fantastic date night vibes

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night around 630pm. There were plenty of free tables, but because we didn't have a reservation, the only option was to sit at the bar. The bar is small with less than 10 stools. The bartender was very busy but took our orders. We got the cheese burgers medium rare. Although they looked small, the burgers were absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection and juicy AF. Would definitely return for the burger.

Camille M.

Yelp
I went to Brindle Room a couple years ago before this new location and loved it. We went to visit this place on a Saturday night and were able to call in with a reservation just in case as well. I personally loved the spaghetti pomodoro and the espresso martini, but we also got their steakhouse burger which their known for and I just don't think it lived up to the expectations from when I last had it. Our waiter was nice and we loved how much more bigger it is than the old one. It's unfortunate that I probably won't be coming back for the burger and will be getting the pasta or something else from the menu if I'm ever in the area again.

Jefe D.

Yelp
Best burger in the city hands down! Nothing prepared me for this magical experience except for a coworker who had told me about it! It's definitely worth the trek and they have two types of burgers. The moment you bite into it, you are taking a foodgasm experience! Just please come here and try the burger!

Rochelle S.

Yelp
One of the the best burgers in the city and I am a huge burger fan! If you like an amazing juicy burger you are in the right place! Did I mention the fries are a it is this world. If you a chocolate fan, don't miss out on the chocolate moose. The service was wonderful shout out to Eric. The owner Jeremy has something very special. Must try!

Nancy A.

Yelp
Best burger ever! Came here because I saw that this place had one of the best burgers in NYC. The beef is actually dry aged and tastes so good along with the American cheese melting in your mouth. There's no lettuce or tomatoes or any other condiments to go with the burger. Fries are pretty good too. Will come here next time.

Daniel R.

Yelp
A wonderful place with a joyous vibe. The fries and the cheeseburger are glorious, and the service is so friendly and warm, I immediately felt as if I were friends with the owners, though it was my first time, and I ate alone. A gem in the East Village!

Rick M.

Yelp
Quality burgers as shown and consumed by me on many occasions. I would like for them to be open for lunch as they were before

Dipali G.

Yelp
We catered from brindle room and they gave us a Smorgasburg of different items! The pasta was absolutely incredible! The fries were also really great! I will definitely come back to the sit down restaurant to try some of the other food!

Chloe S.

Yelp
BEST BURGER IN NYC Would give it 10 stars if I could. Used to be obsessed with this spot pre-COVID and would order almost every weekend, and then was completely devastated when they shuttered. Well folks, they are back and better than ever. The burger is indescribably good, full of flavor and panache. It comes with cheese and caramelized onions on it, and pickles on the side. Put the pickles on the burger but otherwise don't change it; don't add bacon, don't add sauce, just trust Brindle Room to do things right. Will be coming back every weekend forever, period.

Matt S.

Yelp
Blue cheese burger is a perfect blend of flavor with their perfectly cooked burger and truffle fries

Christine M.

Yelp
First time in their next location and the burger is as delicious as it always was. Hands down one of the best burgers in the city!! So glad to see this restaurant is back open. If you are dining here the burger is a must try. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Phil D.

Yelp
I have always loved The Brindle Room! One of my top spots in NYC. Everything on the menu from the legendary burgers to the bacon wrapped dates are incredible. And it's one of the only places I can get a proper Old Fashioned! Stop reading and get down here!

Yelp
Amazing dinner! Everything on the table was delicious. We had the baked oysters, steak, blue cheese burger, and spaghetti. Do not miss the tuna tostadas or the chocolate mousse, they were superb.

Jay M.

Yelp
Got a burger w/ fries delivered and it's phenomenal. This is easily one of my favorite burgers in NYC.

Sean-Patrick H.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. Incredible fare, ridiculously delicious cocktails, and a banger staff! Very cool East Village haunt for sure...and a place I will be returning to for many years to come!

Robert B.

Yelp
Probably on the low end of the four star range. Hadn't been there since pre-covid. Liked the atmosphere, which was quiet, and with the doors open to let the breeze come in. Went with a couple other folks. Food was very good, not great, but small portions. Burger seemed way smaller than in previous years, all three of us said the exact same thing when we saw it. Would rather they just raise the price and give a proper burger. Thankfully they give a generous amount of fries, which is admittedly filler, but a good one. Still food was good and would go back again to try some other food and have a beer.

Erin O.

Yelp
We went back to Brindle Room for the first time in many years and they still have it. It was a crisp fall Saturday and the village was absolutely packed with Halloween parade goers. The location is new from our last visit - still small and even cramped but bright and airy. They also have outdoor seating. Service was good. We went with the burgers which were very good. Still a little on the petite side but for me that's perfect. Beer selection still adequate. We also tried their kale salad which was perfectly dressed and had nice bits of apple and cheese. Brindle Room was nice to hold our reservation when we were hopelessly late.

Myriam A.

Yelp
Such a great spot. Apparently they have moved locations over the past two months and this new one is really cute! Extremely attentive and quick service, nice staff and the food was amazing. I will definitely be back and taking others here

Christina W.

Yelp
New location alert! This is my first time here, but I'm learning about their recent move now. I saw Guy Fieri pull up his red convertible here on Triple D and made a note to come here in my phone. You never know if the famous guy is getting better service and food than a civilian like myself, but I can confirm it was PERFECTION!!! BURGER, FRIES, HOMEMADE HOT SAUCE?! It's all in my body now. (Still not sure where Guy parked though.)

Babiel B.

Yelp
We've eaten here a bunch of time as a couple, and with family and friends. Easy enough to book a table or to walk in as a couple. Several menu items come and go with the seasons, so there's always something new to try. Everything we've ordered here is consistently good and although the burgers may look small when they arrive at the table, they aren't. Cooked to MR perfection every time. The veggie burger could use some fine tuning but we appreciate that one is offered. Nice dining room - ambient sound doesn't drown out dinner conversation. The staff is pleasant and the service good. We'll keep coming back.

Debbie M.

Yelp
Very good hamburger and fries. I loved the dates appetizer. The service was excellent. Very nice ambiance. .

Yelp
My brother knows burgers, and I love finding spots he hasn't been to in his city! Using my algorithm I parsed though numerous locations around the island and landed on this gem, the Brindle Room by Chef Jeremy Spector. I already had our menu planned before we arrived, and we added more! Our feast included the SEBASTIAN'S STEAKHOUSE BURGER [caramelized onions, american cheese, served medium. Comes with fries], FRIED PICKLES [as good as they sound], DATES [bacon wrapped, goat cheese stuffed], and the HOUSE MADE SPICY QUESO [corn tortillas, salsa macha]. We were blown away by all of it, and trust me we practice burgers. Once stuffed I asked if the legend was in the kitchen and if we could meet him. Not only did we snap one for the gram but we discussed burger techniques, how he makes his blend, and laughed at all of the variations in the market today. I already ranked the spot 10/10 before our chat, after, I wish I could go higher. My picky AF brother agreed! Then we smashed our beers and hit the dispensary!

Yelp
ATTENTION ALL NEW YORKERS: The best burger in NYC has re-emerged in the East Village and you all need to come and get it. We tried this place for the first time a few nights ago and we knew it was a good sign when we overheard a woman sitting outside with her family call over the chef to tell him that his burger was the best she had ever had. Chef Jeremy is amazing and supremely dedicated to his craft of making the perfect burger as well as perfect versions of everything on the menu! We tried the bacon wrapped date and smoked wings apps, both of which were en pointe or on pointe for you millenials. His steakhouse burger is a masterpiece - ask him how he makes his burger and he will tell you (or just YouTube Jeremy Spector and burger) - it has a certain "funk" to it from the 10% suet he uses in the mix - and it's a good "funk". The accompanying fries were immaculately cooked, crispy, and perfectly seasoned!!!! Extra bonus: he now offers doggie food for delivery to those New York dog obsessed owners!!! Don't walk, RUN to the Brindle Room. You will not be disappointed.

Agnes P.

Yelp
The night started off fine- good drinks and appetizers came pretty quickly. We then proceeded to wait 30 minutes for our medium cooked burgers to come out, all of which were completely raw on the inside. We asked burger eaters around us if they were having the same issue, but their burgers were cooked to their liking. I'm not sure what happened with our burgers- the waitress must've forgotten about our order. However, she was nice and took it off the bill.

Henry C.

Yelp
This is one of the best burgers in the city, their duck confit poutine, when they make it, is also extraordinary. This is not why I am writing. They have a brunch, or at least, the rumor of a brunch, on Saturdays and Sundays. Lora called Friday before last to verify this, as they serve the lesser iteration of the poutine referenced before, made with pork, for brunch. On that Saturday we brought four people, and arrived about 45 minutes after they were supposed to open, and the doors were locked, and lights were off. A few minutes after we got there, another couple arrived, they were equally surprised that the restaurant was closed, as they too had verified that brunch was happening. 10 minutes or so after we arrived, a bar back arrived, and unlocked the door. We could hear the phone ringing, as Lora was still trying to call them. We decided waiting was fruitless, so we headed back to the UES, where we got food a Dylan Murphy's.

Rosita L.

Yelp
I am usually happy with both the food and the service here, but last night, my friend and I had an unfortunate experience. I ordered the NY Strip Steak au poivre medium. It was overcooked, which i could have overlooked, but it was insanely salty. I am a person that enjoys seasoned food and doesn't mind a little extra salt, but this beyond any level of acceptable. My friend ordered the Salmon with a side of Kale. The fish was very overcooked as well, and while my plate was covered in salt, hers was so bland that she had to order salt and pepper which didn't seem to help as most of her dinner remain on the plate. We also order a side of roasted mushrooms to share (as recommended by our server). They were served in a small bowl in lots of juices and had a slimy texture that isn't typical for a "roasted" mushroom. We should have complained but we bit our tongues because dinner here is usually delicious. Perhaps the chef was out ill? I don't know, but we will surely investigate before going back.

Chris C.

Yelp
One of the few restaurants I've been a repeat customer! Love the food here, top notch along with the service

Madeleine J.

Yelp
The food here is incredible. The burger is one of the best I've had in NYC! The steak au poivre and porchetta style baby back ribs are also fantastic. Everything we've tried here has exceeded our expectations and been absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this place enough!

Todd B.

Yelp
Great ambience, fried pickles, ribs and burgers! Not what I expected after seeing on DDD. This was much nicer.

Jacob G.

Yelp
All hail The Brindle Room! May she forever triumph over pathogens! May she continue to bring reasonable prices and fabulous food to our great city for many years to come! No better burger in the city, especially when you consider the fries!!!

Sherif H.

Yelp
An incredible post-COVID triumph -- Brindle Room finally re-opened its doors, albeit a few blocks East in a bigger space once occupied by another esteemed burger establishment (Virginia's). Brindle Room's Sebastian Steakhouse burger is just as delectable as I remember -- and still very much worthy of a top 10 designation -- distinguished by its thick/perfectly seasoned patty, gooey American cheese and stewy caramelized onions. The bun, however felt a bit dry -- my only complaint for an otherwise near-flawless construction. Highly recommend overall (and the smoked wings, too).

Evan K.

Yelp
The food is good but they are not very good about reservations. Even if you have a reservation you should expect to be kept waiting.

Lorna F.

Yelp
Not sure how all the reviews say this is the best burger. Mine was burnt on the outside. Raw on the inside. 7th street burger way better for 1/3 of the price,

E B.

Yelp
my husband has long raved about the burger here (based on previous location) and I was worried the experience wouldn't live up to the expectation but it sure did! The burger was incredible- we have gone to all the top rated in the city and this is the favorite for us both. I also had the spaghetti pomodoro which was so delicious. We will be back asap :)
