In Goa, Purumenth Has Taken on a New Meaning During COVID-19 | Eater

"Led by chef-owner Avinash Martins, this restaurant champions a return to seasonal, locally sourced preservation practices: the team now makes and stores pickles, preserved fish, chiles, and salt as part of a deliberate, small-batch approach. Martins — who became especially attentive to food safety after the 2018 formalin-in-fish scare — frames these methods as “the new gourmet,” valuing organic, low–carbon-footprint produce and self-reliance. During the COVID lockdown he leaned into this ethos, using traditional preservation techniques to ensure supplies and to reconnect modern dining with ancestral cycles of preparation." - Joanna Lobo

We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Cavatina in Goa! The three of us visited and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal. The food was top-quality, beautifully presented, and full of incredible flavors. We had a selection of starters, tried a variety of cocktails, and enjoyed delicious mains and desserts—everything was outstanding. The service was just as impressive. The staff were not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and making sure we had the best experience. For the quality of food and overall experience, the pricing was very reasonable. Highly recommend Cavatina for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in Goa! We’ll definitely be back.

Cavatina for me isn’t just a restaurant…it is home. After having tried some really fancy restaurants in different parts of the world, I can proudly say I have the best one at home. At Cavatina , you not only get to experience Chef Avinash’s culinary brilliance but also are spoilt by Tiz and the team who go above and beyond to look after you. Chef Avinash is an artist and you will see a few pieces of his amazing art at the restaurant on the walls but the food he puts out on the plate is extra ordinary. Not just the taste but the presentation. The team make sure they take your order down very attentively while checking for any dietary allergies or restrictions. While the food is great, the cocktails and desserts are equally good. Chef Tiz is the woman behind the amazing desserts you will get to try here. Don’t miss out on her brilliant home made ice creams. Honestly it’s hard to pick a favourite when it comes to the food because everything is so different and nice. Though I never miss out on ordering the crab bisque soup while I’m here. This is my family’s go to place for a celebration and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Goa to put this on top of your to do list while visiting.

The restaurant is unique in terms of its audacity to have Goan roots and experimenting with world cuisine. They are soulful in their artistic presentation of their delicious creations. Cavatina was recommended to me by one of my colleague and though it meant an hour of drive for me I agreed to give it a try. It is tucked in Benaulim, South Goa. The restaurant is next to the road and is of single floor and hence accessibility is not a challenge for persons of any age group. Google map makes it easy to locate if you are not very frequent to this part of Goa.It has limited seating and it's popularity make it natural to book table in advance. I had reserved table for two and reached the restaurant roughly around 8.30 pm. Though most tables were taken I still found a few available. They have very simple and sattle decor which allows them to make their presentation stand out and register with their guest. They are really good in this. We ordered for Spanakopita (Greek origin), Nest in Woods, Tajine (Magharebi origin) inspired Sukha, and Chocolate and Cherry Marquise (French origin). Each of these dishes were story in themselves and were cleverly crafted. The experience was truly a gastromical delight. They experiment their culinary skills with Chicken, Pork, Beef and Duck meat. They have well stocked bar and have line up of cocktails and mocktails to choose from. One must visit the restaurant to witness the efforts of the team. One caveat - you may not get regular indian or Goan items here and should be avoided if you are interested in fish thalis, butter chicken etc. One may find cost on a little higher side as well. Do share your like if you found the review useful.

Excellent place for a great meal. Authentic Goan food served in a traditional restaurant set up and style. We went for dinner based on a recommendation and we are more than satisfied!! Food is out of the world ! Tables need to be pre-booked- do note.

Google
Got to be honest, this place is random. Feels like they are trying to hard to be a 'Michelin Star' restaurant with food on miniature dining table and chairs, setting coconuts on fire and food on logs. Service was great and they made you feel special. Our main meals were delicious, and came in bowls or on plates but starters need rethinking. It's a lovely restaurant and was packed so please give it a go. You can see from the video I added shows how lovely the main meals were, the mixed grill and the pork was cracking!! But the photos show the randomness of the starters.

Cavatina by Avinash Martins is an exceptional dining experience. Each dish is exquisitely prepared, presented and narrated. The servers provide interesting details, are attentive to each diners needs and set a high bar in service. The food is a twist on traditional Goan cuisine without losing the authenticity of flavour, texture and aromas. A must visit if you are in the Benaulim area. He also has a chef’s creations restaurant in Panjim - Janot. That’s on my list for my next trip to Goa.

Someone rightly said a way through a man's heart is through his stomach..but after eating twice at Cavatina by Chef Avinash Martin's I say a way to a foodie family's heart who love trying local cuisine is through Cavatina in South Goa. Homely ambience..simple menu card.. caring..humble..knowledgeable and smiling staff..simplicity at its best. We have been here on a vacation in March as this restaurant was suggested by my brother Gaurav Gite who is a chef and restaurateur . And food here is very tasty and reasonable. We tried prawns ambotik..a goan curry with red rice and prawns which were stir fried with pepper nd few spices the taste of which still lingers on.. And today we are here again for the 2nd time driving all the way from coorg back to Cavatina just to have lunch in this lovely place and continue our journey to mumbai. And this place just gives us better nd better food everytime we visit.. Would like to thank Presley the Manager here..who guides us perfectly what food to eat here .And I am happy to say that we have truly enjoyed the dishes suggested by him on both our visits. Chef Charanjit Singh the food u and your team cook and send it to the table is ekdum dil se dil tak. Mohit who served us was very sweet..smiling and did a great job. Today we tried the Veg Clear Soup it was simple yet filled with suttle flavors.. A very delicious prawn yellow curry with red rice and goan delicacy sana made of coconut nd raw fermented rice is a must try here. Last but not the least..they served us a desert made of honey which you get locally. I have no words to express the presentation and the taste..who will have to go to Cavatina to taste it. Also when we praised the Chef for the yummy desert..he told us that the credit goes to Chef Avinash Martin's wife as she makes the desert..Thank you so much Mrs.Martin for the wonderful desert. All our love and best wishes to Chef Avinash Martin's and all your team at Cavatina. May God bless you all. Vinita Nilesh and Priyam Patil from Mumbai.

The service was excellent but the food was not. The jackfruit starters were tasty. However the tenderloin was chewy and the pork was not well made. The fish was decent The restaurant has one toilet outside with a broken flush. Overall an under whelming experience
