The 50 Best Restaurants in India | Bon Appétit

"Tucked away in breezy Benaulim in South Goa, Cavatina is a modern Indian restaurant with a Goan heart. Ingredients are sourced from around the state and creative cooking techniques lead to a reimagining of local classics. Think, valchi bhaji served with mushrooms, morels and a cashew ambot tik koji, roast tongue marinated in a temperado masala and served with a refreshing tartare, and the Portuguese Serradura reimagined as a tart. The seasonal menu strives to offer diners the best of Goa’s produce, while supporting local growers and producers." - ByArundhati Ail

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cavatina, Chef Avinash Martins' specialty restaurant, and it was an extraordinary experience. The food was nothing short of amazing, with each dish showcasing Chef Martins' culinary expertise and creativity. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Their recommendations were spot on, and they ensured that every detail was perfect. Cavatina is a true gem, offering a delightful culinary journey that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Chef Avinash Martins and his team have truly outdone themselves!

Good food, well thought through menu. We had gone here for my birthday some time back. The food was delicious and refined, made using local produce.

In an effort to standout they stood way out. The menu is too bizarre at some points. Some items are tasty but others are just normal. Presentation of food is great but disappointing in satisfaction. They had some ‘normals’ in the menu in past but now it’s everything new. Nothing for a no-brainer order. You have to think and think before ordering. Staff is friendly and explain everything nicely about the food and the menu. But the only issue is that too much explanation is needed for such a simple task to be executed.

You can't wear a new sleeveless T here, but gym sweats and an old T are allowed. Really? Pretentious is a word that comes to mind. Portions are extremely small. The menu is the chef's own take on typical Goan foods. Mostly good. But I wouldn't say great or excellent. Presentation is beautiful however. Waiter staff great 💯

Cavatina provides an excellent dining experience. I spent two months in Goa and outside Panjim this place stood head and shoulders above anywhere else I ate. They have the whole package, from a warm welcome on entry, outstanding service from knowledgeable waiters, to decent wine and good food beautifully prsented. Try the Indian produced rose "The Source, Grenache Rose - Nashik valley" it's better than the red which was a bit too acidic for my palate. I visited twice, once on my own and selected from the "tapas" menu of small plates, all presented with a good explanation and a bit of theatre. Encouraged by my first visit, I went a second time with a party of four selecting from the a la carte menu. Entire experience was excellent. Pricing is very reasonable and for the price it provides outstanding value. If you are in the area and would like a break from the traditional Goan dining experience in a pleasant a/c restaurant, it's highly recommended.

Classy place, which attracts an elegant crowd. Food is delicious and creative. The waiters could refine their interactions with the customers, I got too many jokes for my liking.

Must Go Place in Goa Cavatina by Avinash Martins is just plain simple FABULOUS 😍. If you are in South Goa, you must go there. If you are in North Goa, you must go to South Goa to go there. If you are not in Goa, you should go to Goa and go there. So, I went there knowing that it's a award winning restaurant and with high expectations; yet I was pleasantly surprised. Booking and Seating Booking a table is easy......you call them and make a reservation. Getting a table at the reserved time is still an issue understandably so. They can improve here. However, I was in the 25th -31st Dec week so everywhere there was a waiting. Dress Code Smart casuals is written. I saw male patrons get in, in shorts.....so shorts and loafers is okay. Waiting area They have a small seating area outside to relax while you wait your turn. Decor Very minimal, nothing extravagant.....just seashells and earthen pottery and cooking utensils adorning the walls. Bar They have a full bar available. No high chairs. Vegetarian Options Limited but very clearly labelled as VG and V. VG for Vegan and V for Veg. Food Complementary breads bite size of 3 tyoew and 3 local dips were offered to us before our order was served. Our table attendant explained everything and we were off to a great start.

Have been to this place twice and both the times ordered tasting menu. It is like visiting the master chef kitchen. The presentation is unique and what they have done with local cuisine and elevated it to the level where it can easily have the international appeal keeping heart and flavours intact. Do visit for the unique and wholesome experience
