Where To Eat In West Town - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This casual pizza spot has been in the neighborhood since 2007, and is still an excellent option for a weeknight when all you want is some pizza and a glass of wine. Their specialty is thin crust, and the pies are (as the name suggests) coal-fired with a charred, bubbly crust. You’ll find a variety of creative toppings like whipped ricotta with pepperoni, italian beef, and pistachio pesto. In other words, it’s the kind of light, tasty pizza that you’re going to want to eat a lot of—so plan on ordering at least two." - adrian kane, veda kilaru, john ringor, nick allen

Where to Find Thin-Crust Pizza in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"In West Town, you can get coal-forged thin-crust pizza that emerges from the 800-degree oven perfectly charred and bubbly. Why have it any other way? You can choose from 12 specialty pizzas or build your own and create your own new favorite. Check out the Lakeview location as well." - Eater Staff

Coalfire

"Sure, you could come for a salad, but the focus here is on pizza—and yours should be, too. The dining room is cozy, showcasing an open kitchen where pie production is on full display for all to see. And in a playful bit of recycling, empty tomato sauce cans placed on each table become stands for sizzling pizzas churned straight from the 800-degree coal-fired oven. This hot spot has its ratio down to a fine art and knows not to burden its thin and crispy crust that’s blackened and blistered in all the right places. The mortadella is a delight, with chopped garlic and gossamer slices of peppercorn-flecked sausage. But if you wish to go your own way, build the perfect pie with toppings that run the gamut from decadent Gorgonzola to tangy goat cheese." - Michelin Inspector

Where to Eat and Drink in West Town | Eater Chicago

"One of the city’s best pizzerias for thin crust, Coal Fire continues to deliver. The honey and salumi pie is a favorite, as is the lasagna pie." - Eater Staff

Where to Eat Vegan Pizza in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Coalfire straddles the line between Neapolitan and New York styles. The 1,500-degree coal-burning oven gives the finished pizzas a very satisfying char. Multiple vegan pies are available, but the Vegan Pesto with pistachio pesto and a myriad of veggies is a must. There’s a second location on Southport in Lakeview." - Adam Rothbarth
