"Set on a working farm, in 66 acres of meadows and woodland, this former farmhouse and dairy offers the ultimate field to fork experience. Techniques include curing, pickling and cooking over wooden embers, and the home-bred Middle White pork and home-baked sourdough are hits. They serve a set three course menu at all times, which changes seasonally depending on which quality ingredients are available. Bedrooms have a cosy farmhouse style." - Michelin Inspector

Cornwall’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Cornwall on Holiday | Eater London

"The agrarian idyll that arguably kickstarted the London to Cornwall exodus is once again accepting reservations for its acclaimed restaurant, having built up an enviable reputation as an online farm shop. Tom Adams and co’s thoughtful hospitality is matched only by the quality of the products on the plate, with Mangalitza pork, preserved vegetables, and breads all reared, made, and cooked on the farm respectively rotating through the seasons with aplomb. Now also open for pit-stops in the daytime, including a mean sausage roll." - George Reynolds

We were treated by our eldest son to an unforgettable meal at Coombshead Farm Restaurant, and it was exceptional from start to finish. The crusty sourdough, fresh from the oven, set the tone for a meal rooted in simplicity and flavour. We enjoyed house-cured meats, pickles, and a standout main of tender pork served with seasonal vegetables grown right on the farm.||Every element felt thoughtfully prepared and full of honest, vibrant taste. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely excellent. A true showcase of farm-to-table dining done brilliantly.||The only small suggestion we’d offer is to include coffee options like cappuccino or latte to round off such a lovely meal.||Highly recommended — well worth the visit!

We have been a few times in the past to this great and rather special restaurant with rooms where a lot of the produce is home grown/farmed. This time we went for a set menu from a visiting chef cooking a magnificent selection of Thai dishes. Great fun, really tasty dishes - think the staff enjoyed the whole experience too . It was fully booked but suspect this is often the case here as they have an authentic and interesting menu usually reflecting local produce the seasons. They also have a great bakery on site making superb sourdough.

Dinner was a treat for a special birthday and didn’t quite live up to the hype. We were asked if we had been before (we hadn’t) and we were told there was no choice, the menu ‘was it’, although we could add nibbles and pay extra. No mention of why the dishes had been selected for the evening or where the ingredients had come from. We ordered ‘a nibble’, turnip, pickled carrots and seed butter - delicious. Starter, also lovely, served with chunks of tasty sourdough bread. It then went downhill. I wasn’t expecting frills, which was good as there weren’t any, but the pottery water mugs were so rough hewn on the edges I thought they were finger bowls. The main course was chicken pie and buttermilk potatoes with greens and some salad leaves. I was delighted with this option, but the pie came in a laughably small dish (between 2) with barely any chicken, a salty, watery stock and soggy pastry; the mashed potatoes with a spoonful of greens were unpleasantly oily, although the salad leaves, which seemed a strange addition, did at least add some welcome freshness. The panna cotta dessert was not to our taste, but that’s personal preference and the chance you take when there is no choice. All in all for nearly £150 (with a drink each and service charge) a very underwhelming meal and I really wished I had spent my birthday elsewhere.

We were excited to stay here as it was gift. On arrival staff were pleasant and showed us our room & explained the various “attractions” on the property.|We had a walk around and were surprised to see the pond had a large fallen tree in it, we walked to the valley, but on the way we passed a huge muddy area with discarded black bin bags and little else of merit.|Pre- dinner drinks outside, disappointing as the glass of lager came in a small tumbler (seriously)! Dinner was not good at all. Very small servings with little taste, the lamb was swimming in oil & the bread crust was burnt! |Our room was comfortable, but the shower cubicle had black ?mould in the corners. Breakfast was slightly better, but overall we were completely underwhelmed. We felt that Coombeshead Farm is a great concept, that over promises and underdelivers!

We were excited to be given a voucher for Sunday lunch here. It was a long way for us to drive, but felt that it would be worth it based what they charge. |The menu is set, no choices at all , but you can buy some overpriced extras to start with. The food tasted nice, but the portions were small and it was what I would call ‘lazy cooking’ . We had a very small piece of very fatty shoulder of lamb in a bowl with a few new potatoes, a stock , three pea pods , some wilted lettuce and a dob of aioli ( which just tasted very sharp ) . You couldn’t eat the stock as there wasn’t anything to eat it with. It didn’t look appetising , but tasted OK. Dessert was a bay flavoured panna cotta with a little rhubarb jelly across the top and a couple of pieces of poached rhubarb. It could have done with a biscuit to add contrast to the texture. Anyway, we won’t be returning and there are places doing a similar thing around the area where we live offering much better value, choice and food. |I’m not sure what market they are after, but we won’t be repeat guests for sure!

We dined in the restaurant on a Saturday evening, I had been given a gift card that paid for most of the meal. I had high hopes, I live locally and have heard good things about Coombeshead but left feeling somewhat disappointed.||The food was served as a set menu, no choices involved unless we wanted to pay for some of the extra items on the menu. The starter was a Mangalitza pork terrine accompanied by a Sauerkraut like cabbage dish and sourdough bread. The bread terrine were very good, but the kraut? I guess some people might like it. It was very sour and vinegary. It seemed a strange choice to serve this up on a set menu when you have no option to not have it.||The main was sliced pork chop (pork again?) served with some squash based vegetables. It all tasted fine, but the sliced pork was about 60% fat. It felt like we had been served the cheapest cut of meat which is a bit strange given this was the main course. Also, the quantity of meat was tiny once the fat had been removed!||Dessert was a fruit compote served in a light pastry pot with cream and was excellent.||Wines are quite expensive and I noted that the price of 6 glasses was the same as having a bottle, so there is no incentive to order a bottle. They have one of those menus that has prices in single figure numbers or sometimes with a decimal point that I think are designed to confuse.||So all in all a bit of a mixed bag really. Would I go again? Given the cost, only if someone else was paying.

I won't bother describing the food we had for Sunday lunch as, although the three courses were all good, they were small, and vastly overpriced at £50 + 12.5% service charge/person. Unremarkable cider was £7 + 12.5% service charge for what I doubt was more than a 100ml glass. I would have felt ripped off even in London.

Super experience, walking round the farm before dining. Seeing the fruit, veg and animals in situte. Very informative staff, beautifully presented , and extremely tasty food. I'd go again !
