Frankie & Jo's Ballard

Frankie & Jo's is a chain of vegan ice cream shops in the Seattle area. It's known for having vegan and gluten free options where they substitute ingredients that have similar tastes or textures. This location is in Ballard right off 15th. Parking is pretty easy here, and they have a few places to sit inside. It's normally pretty slow at this location so there's never a line. The staff is great, very friendly and ready to talk. The ice cream itself is OK. It's pricey for the portion sizes you get, and some of the flavors get overwhelmed but the substitute ingredients (for instance chocolate, where the coconut in it overpowers the chocolate). They do have some good combos and some that mix well together like Beet Strawberry Rose. Overall a decent choice is your limited to vegan or gluten free options.

EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE AND DELICIOUS 🤯 This is the yummiest, most adorable, cute ice cream shop. All of the flavors I have tried are delicious. The beet strawberry rose is like a refreshing sorbet. The GF waffle cones are made onsite and served warm. Salted caramel ash caught my eye because it is actually gray. I’m fairly certain this is the item served in Beauty and the Beast when the Enchanted Dinnerware tell Belle to “try the gray stuff, it’s delicious!” You can even buy tubs of their VEGAN and gluten free ice cream and/or cookies to go home!! This was such a delight and I’m so excited we found this particular location. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions for tourists. I enjoyed the slower pace encouraging the patrons to slow down and enjoy the moment. We will definitely be back! 😊 As a personal trainer and nutritionist, I aim to find balance in goal setting with any diet. Having an ice cream staple, as delicious as Frankie & Jo’s provides, really helps satiate a food craving so as not to over indulge in attempt to fill an unmet need. I recommend this shop and brand of ice cream to responsibly satiate your next indulgent desire.

Gluten free ice cream and GF waffle cones!!! Unreal! These flavors are amazing, period. Absolutely unable to tell the difference from gluten (or vegan) ice cream! I’m blown away. California cabin is the most unique and balanced flavor ever. We loved it. It was $26 for 2 people to get ice cream, though 😬

Really delicious ice-cream and sundaes, it's impossible to figure out these are actually vegan and gluten free, what!? Their chocolate fudge, waffle cones and toppings are delicious too! Nice neighborhood place with a super nostalgic vibe! Must visit!

Visiting from out of town and discovered this place. It did not disappoint. Not only is the ice cream fantastic! (and usually I prefer oat base over coconut) The waffle cones are also amazing. Can't recommend enough. So good. If I'm ever back in town I will definitely be coming back.

This is without a doubt the best vegan ice cream in Seattle, but many non vegan friends absolutely love the unique flavors! California Cabin is my favorite ice cream in the world, and in a fresh made waffle cone, you can’t go wrong.

The ice cream is amazing and the service is generally good. Today I went in and the woman working was on her phone and touching her face. She didn’t wash her hands. She was also talking to a friend when we walked in. I’ll be back I’m sure but this was one of my first bad experiences there.

I have been vegan for 10 years and I’ve tried every ice cream brand available. This is the best I’ve ever had. The mint brownie is unbelievable. I’m shocked by how amazing it is. And the store itself is so cute and the people working are so lovely!

Super cute little spot with yummy vegan and gluten free ice cream ! Ample indoor seating toward the back with a play area for the kiddos. Friendly service. I really love the soft serve with a berry compote. It's nice there's options like this now for folks with dietary restrictions.

We went in on a weekend to grab some vegan ice cream. I think it's harder to make vegan ice creams so kudos to this shop for really making it work. We got the chocolate tahini super cookie and the chocolate milk. The tahini flavor really went well with the chocolate. Their ambiance and heated patio added to the experience. This is a great spot for vegan folks craving ice cream!

I like this location vs. the others because it's more low key located in a neighborhood. You do have to find parking on the street but you won't have to walk anymore than 2-3 blocks to the shop. I recommend sampling as many flavors as you're interested in as some flavors can be a hit and some are just okay. The prices per scoop are a bit pricey but they are dairy free after all. It's a nice little treat on a nice weather day or whenever you're craving some dairy free ice cream!

I was really excited to try their magic sundaes at their Ballard location that opened up in the summer time. After much anticipation, I tried the Chaga hot fudge magic sundae ($12) thinking at this price point it would be at least double the size I received. It was in the smallest cup and the toppings were not what I'd imagine when I think of the word sundae. The soft serve like much of their ice creams didn't seem cold enough and overly very sweet. As someone that has a very sweet tooth, I found this dessert overwhelming in the sweetness with little balance. I think the concept was great but the execution was poor - perhaps it might be better if they renamed it to a soft serve stand vs. A sundae shop...

Frankie and Jo's is an absolute delight! This gem of a place caters to both GF and VG cravings, making it a must-visit for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. Their ice cream offerings are nothing short of impressive, boasting a diverse selection of flavors. The strawberry milk and chocolate tahini supercookie - absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a guilt-free indulgence without compromising on taste, Frankie and Jo's is the place to be.

My first experience with them was doing a delivery for a birthday when I lived out of state. They have great customer service and helped fixed an issue due to the shipper that wasn't their fault. Since I have moved to the area I have been in to visit several times and love their unique flavors and rotating seasonal flavors.

We have been coming here for years and the ice cream is consistently good, even the new or seasonal flavors they introduce. I am gluten-free and dairy-free, and very picky on top of that so when Insee things like dates as an ingredient in the chocolate ice cream, my first instinct is to run. Thankfully, the first time I went there, I was with friends and felt peer pressure to be open-minded, because regardless of what ingredients it states are used, you cant taste them and the ice cream is really good. I would have been missing out this entire time! I love and really appreciate how generous they are in giving you as many samples as you need until you find what you like without making you feel guilty or like you are a burden or are wasting someone else's time. Thats how I found several that I love! My personal (and conservative) faves are chocolate, vanilla and mint choc chip. Everyone else goes for something more interesting and always is happy with it so you really cant go wrong! Service is good. They are happy to help. Its a small shop like every ice cream shop so plan on eating outside and outdoor seating is limited so be prepared to stand. You will love it and then be back for more!! Enjoy!

I adore the ice cream and waffle cones here and love that I can have anything on the menu when it is all gluten free and vegan. Recently it was nice to get the delicious fresh made waffle cone as shattered pieces in a cup with a scoop instead of investing in a a full cone. I also took home their new-to-me ice cream sandwich, made with 2 chocolate chip cookies and oat milk-based vanilla ice cream (different from the brown sugar vanilla but similar), all partially coated in dipped chocolate. I tried a few bites before my ice-cream sandwich loving child ate all of the rest. Very rich and sugary and I'm not sure I could have eaten it in one go myself, but still really delicious. The first time I went I only noticed a couple of stools at a bar facing the ice cream counter instead of looking out over the street and a bench across the way and didn't think this location felt very welcoming nor well utilized for seating. However, on a return visit, I realized I had completely missed that down a hallway in the back is a cute little children's table and chairs plus play area with nearby adult benches, as well as a beautiful glass-enclosed outdoor cactus garden on a small patio as well. With the sun out on the return visit, there were also tables and chairs out front. The one lone employee was very sweet and helpful when I was the only customer in on a grey quiet day my first visit. There was also only one employee, just as nice, on my next visit and a long line out the door of customers waiting to get ice cream.

Love their ethos! Gluten free and vegan?! With coconut being their base?!!! Full send for me. Fun flavors too! Will deff be back. Also appreciated that they let us try out a few flavors before committing.

What an amazing variety of delicious flavors and the serving sizes are perfect. It's a small cute little spot in Ballard with very friendly service.

Finally was able to stop by Frankie & Jo's after years of hearing good things. It's a cute little storefront that's within walking distance of the surrounding neighborhood. The people working were pretty nice. I got a mini scoop of the Jamocha fudge in a dark cocoa waffle cone. My partner got a standard scoop of the supercookies and cream in a regular waffle cone. The mini scoop was pretty big! I'd recommend starting small. We both really enjoyed our flavors. I will say the dark cocoa cone was to die for. The sign said they only make them once a year (I think..) so if they have them when you go I highly recommend getting one. So good! A little pricey, but overall a really solid spot. Hard to believe they are plant based!

Our last stop of the evening was for some plant-based ice cream at Frankie & Jo's. They have two other location (Capital Hill and University Village). We dropped in on a busy Friday evening (around 8:30pm). It smelled heavenly inside with fresh waffle cones being made. Nice that you can sample a few flavours. They had 13 flavours available (10 everyday and 3 seasonal). Scoops are pricey; $5.00 USD (mini), $7.50 USD (standard) and $9.50 USD (large). Pints are $14.00 to $15.00 USD. Their maple vanilla waffle cone ($2.75 USD) are easily the most expensive cones we've come across. - Large ($9.50 USD) - for our two scoops, we opted for the love of lemon (lemon curd swirl with lemon shortbread cookie) and California cabin (smoked vanilla and pine with a black pepper cardamom shortbread cookie). The texture was rich and creamy. The California cabin was unique and refreshing; first time having pine and we loved it. The lemon was exactly as described; a lemon square in ice cream format. It's pricey at F&J but the quality and flavours are on point.

As a non-vegan, I'm honestly kind of a hater of vegan substitutes after some very bad experiences so I was definitely very hesitant coming here. I am happy to report back that this is not only good vegan ice cream but also great for non-vegans! I ordered a mini strawberry milk ice cream in a waffle cone and it was delicious and refreshing! You could definitely tell that they don't use dairy cream/milk but the texture was still very smooth and creamy unlike other oat milk ice creams I've tried and it felt lighter than dairy ice cream which is great. I'm pretty picky about my ice cream texture and don't like it airy/fluffy, but this was pretty dense which I liked. The cone was also really yummy and you could really taste the maple/vanilla/oats. Overall I was pleasantly surprised to like this vegan icecream spot and it's in the number 1 spot for me of the 3 main Seattle chains (other two being Molly Moons and Salt & Straw). I will be back to try their other flavors!

The ice cream was horrible and pricing atrocious. I was reminded to provide a review after enjoying a scoop for $4 elsewhere. Granted one extra star for the cashier offering my father a different flavor after he threw away his chocolate after one bite. Unfortunately, my vegetarian daughter also got the chocolate and hated it. No one in our group enjoyed it. Nice back garden.

I've tried this place a couple of times and I'm just not a fan. I'm not vegan but I enjoy vegan things if they are still tasty! Today I had a split scoop of brown sugar vanilla and Carlota de Limon. The texture on each was very off in a different way. After one bite of each, I was ready to chuck the whole thing but since I paid $11 for ice cream, I finished it. The vanilla was very heavy and left a think greasy film in my mouth. The Limon was really gummy and seemed like it had a lot of stabilizers it was also really gritty. I was hoping the Limon would be refreshing and citrusy but instead it had a really bitter note. I love & support vegan businesses but after a couple of tries, this one is not for me.

Wowza. I went to this place after searching "ice cream" on yelp while traveling through Ballard. Went in and ordered a double scoop of, what sounded like really cool flavors (crazy flavors like salt and straw). Got my two scoops and they were ridiculously tiny. I would say they were no more than 1/4 a cup of product. They then rang me up and said 13.00. I about fainted. I was absolutely shocked as I did not see prices posted so I assumed it would be normal gourmet ice cream prices. The gal and guy working were not friendly and overall it was just a weird vibe. Welp...got in the car and tasted the ice cream and then figured it out...:it's vegan Icecream. I'm not vegan. It was pretty unappetizing. Guess I need to ask before ordering at icecream shops I'm not familiar with - the price and whether it is vegan. Expensive lesson learned.

Delicious plant-based ice cream with amazing service! Seriously, the lady behind the counter was so sweet and cheery, she made my day! I've tried and loved all their autumn flavors (the pie pieces in the ice cream are to die for!!), and my favorite classic flavor is "Strawberry Milk." The ice cream is very rich in flavor, it's not like many of those vegan ice creams that taste overwhelmingly like coconut milk. What made the experience here extra special was the little heated area at the back of the shop, so cozy and warm!

Frankie & Jo's is a place everyone whom enjoys a sweet treat should know about!! The vanilla is extremely flavorful, I could taste notes of brown sugar or maple paired with the vanilla. I love dates and wanted to try the date cookie sandwich; the date I've cream was extremely good the cookie was more savory 'Miso,' the combination oddly paired together really nicely. The waffle cones are made in-house and they are REALLY good!! If you're seeking a vast variety of dairy free & vegan ice cream; I highly recommend Frankie & Jo's!!

I have been waiting to make this review for a while folks! Every time I went to F&J I never took a picture because I eat my ice cream too fast Well, sit down and take notes because this is something you should remember every single time you want ice cream. Frankie & Joe's is a women-owned, certified b-corporation, plant based and gluten free. Yes, I said plant based & GF ice cream and it is a mouthgasmn. I have NEVER in my life been able to enjoy ice cream without having a stomachache (because I'm lactose intolerant), and couldn't order a cone because of the gluten. My sister was the one that took me to the Capitol Hill Scoop Shop almost two years ago (didn't have yelp yet-sorry) and honestly I can't eat ice cream anywhere else! My expectations of ice cream are so HIGH that I'm never satisfied when I try a Dairy Free/Vegan ice cream. Ooh every month F&J have Seasonal Flavors and they never disappoint! I always go one a month for my seasonal treat and pair it with my favorite all year flavor of California Cabin! I'm telling you that this is THE BEST ice cream you'll ever have!

A colleague recommended this place in my first year in Seattle, and this has quickly become my go to spot for a treat. The product is good, regardless of dietary restrictions, and huge bonus: everything is gluten free, dairy free, and even has no added sugar! Is it pricey? Yes. Are the flavors unlike anywhere else? Yes! Some are good, some are great, some are strange, but it's fun! Plus, it's rare I get to eat ice cream and a cone, so this place makes me feel spoiled. Tip: Be prepared for long lines at peak times; bring a friend (or a phone) and catch up. Also, check out the new seasonal flavors at the start of each month. If you ever catch me zoning out, deep in thought, know that I am dreaming of the California Cabin ice cream at Frankie & Jo's. It absolutely blows my mind that it's non-dairy. Like - mind. blown. It's creamy and delicious. When it melts, the consistency is thick (not watery like some non-dairy ice cream can be). It tastes like Christmas and I wanted to be snuggled up in some California cabin for real while I was eating it. I also got the Chocolate Tahini Supercookie - also yummy and fantastic consistency, I couldn't believe this was non-dairy as well. There are a lot of reasons to visit Seattle, but ya'll, this is my new #1.

I tried their ice cream for the first time in U village. They have great selection of unique flavors and the sales person was so nice and patient with everyone to give samples. I really enjoyed my experience. The ice cream was excellent - little bit on the sweet side. perfect for people with more sweet tooth:)

A complete delight! Gluten-free and vegan kitchen. A stunning array of flavors. AND THEY HAVE COOKIES AND WAFFLE CONES THAT ARE GLUTEN FREE (and presumably vegan, I didn't ask). They'll even want the cookie for you by default if you get a cookie a la mode. Delightful seasonal recipes keep things fresh and reliable regular flavors. A real treat. You can even take home a pint! And don't miss the little garden in the back - even if it's raining, Frankie and Jo's has you covered! The water closet is wheelchair accessible too. I'm so delighted I found this place!

Perfect ice cream shop for those that are lactose intolerant... aka ME. Blessed to have not had a stomach ache after eating this lol. I got the banana chocolate one and although the consistency wasn't comparable to regular full fat milk ice cream, it was still good and definitely satisfied my ice cream craving! The workers were also super friendly. I wish I was able to sample their other unique vegan ice cream flavors but alas I wasn't able to. Overall it was a good place to try and I have no regrets but I don't think I would return. It was a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Why 5 stars? ... Wonderful customer service and unique VEGAN flavors! ....I feel as if they're playing a prank on us, because VEGAN can't be this good!!! My little wanted cookies and cream and wouldn't share a bite! I tasted and brought home the Chocolate Tahini Sugar Cookie. Wow, it's rich and creamier than any dairy ice cream I've had. The Tahini added a little salt to balance the rich decadent Chocolate. Omg I'm glad they aren't too close to home. The price is well worth the value, but I'd need a second job to pay for this habit. A mini scoop, pint, and 15% tip = approx $22 I'm excited to try their monthly flavors (rotates monthly). Me talking to my thighs: Once a month isn't too bad eh? Lol...see you soon!

I have been wanting to try Frankie & Jo's for a while now and finally made it last weekend. I was curious about vegan ice cream and loved it. We got a standard with Chocolate Date and California Cabin, and a mini of Butter Pecan (June special). Butter Pecan was my favorite of the 3 flavors we tried.

Yummy yummy yummy and vegan... perfect. Super creative providing home made vegan ice "cream" and soft serve Sundays in a great neighborhood ambiance. Expect to wait in line; it's worth it.

I truly wasn't prepared. To be fair, I just moved to Seattle from FL, so I get very excited at all the possibilities there are in comparison. The fact that this place is ALL GLUTEN FREE & VEGAN?! I am mind blown. I don't think I have ever had the opportunity to have a brownie sundae, ever. Again, don't know if this is because I come from FL where they don't accommodate the gluten free. But the taste was also amazing. They have so many different topping options. The vibes inside are also funky and inviting. There's a cutesy little outdoor patio, and even a little play area in the back for little kiddos. Just go, you have to!! I will be returning sooner rather than later. Thanks for existing, ya'll!!!

I've been to the Capitol Hill location dozens of times and love it. My husband and I happened to be out in Ballard for dinner and realized there was a location near by. I got my usual charcoal salted caramel in a waffle cone. The inside is so cute! Staff was super friendly and told us a bit more about the backstory of the company and how the locations have opened up. Whenever I'm in the area next, I'll definitely be stopping by!

We love Frankie & Jos! Their Chocolate Tahini is by far my favorite, thankfully it's a staple flavor! It's always fun seeing what new seasonal flavors come out too. Having their ice cream pints in some grocery stores in the area has been amazing since I live on the eastside. If you're looking for a Frankie & Jos fix but don't feel like driving to Seattle for it, head to your local PCC. I think Whole Foods has it now too. But going to their actual shops for their gluten-free waffle cones is also so worth it. Best vegan and gluten-free ice cream I've ever had. My partner and I like to go to this location in the summer and then walk around the blocks of the neighborhoods. Very nice stroll, especially with a treat.

I will sadly admit that I was extremely dubious about Frankie & Jo's because I feel like as a non-vegan, when you get something vegan, you make a sacrifice in flavor and texture. However, after observing that they are a B corporation and are really invested in using the best ingredients and being transparent, I decided it was time to try. Their flavors are extremely creative and often have a twist, even their version of vanilla. I'm a huge fan of ice cream that also has a good amount of mix-ins, such as brownies or cookies, and Frankie and Jo's has plenty of classic and monthly flavors that do that. I tried their vanilla and the seasonal blondie flavor. The ice cream base itself is super creamy and didn't taste overly "coconut-y" as vegan ice cream often does (note I love coconut, so I don't mind actually if it did). I can't wait to come back and try the waffle cone. My only wish is that they had smaller scoop options, where you could either do a split scoop for the smallest size or have a "kids" size. With that said, perhaps it's a good thing how generous their scoops are? My last note for this location... I really like this location because it doesn't seem that busy compared to other locations. Granted I did go in the winter at ~6:30 PM on a Saturday night... However, other times I have been in the neighborhood during more "ice cream appropriate times", I haven't seen a long line.

I love Frankie & Jo's! Didn't know they had soft serve until recently (maybe it's new?). Total success as usual, really nice people (sorry but personally I have to taste about 5 flavors before deciding) and they were patient and friendly and every single one was so good. Love the vibe, the pink walls, the outdoor seating, the line out the door. 100% worth it.

The tahini banana with the waffle cone was incredible. The waffle itself was more of a cookie-type waffle cone unlike anything I've had anywhere else. Unfortunately, neither of us liked the pineapple whip. I was expecting it to be fruity and refreshing but the texture was a bit strange - very chalky and on the heavier side.

The absolute best ice cream I have ever had. The amazing flavors and the fact that it's relatively healthy, made our experience fabulous. It takes some good ice cream to enjoy it in 25 degree weather. The girl helping us was kind and courteous with our requests to try many flavors. The shop was adorable as well!

So yummy! I was excited to have ice cream at an ice cream shop for the first time in years since I have a dairy intolerance. This place allowed me to enjoy the experience again my s/o who doesn't necessarily need to have dairy free also LOVED it. We'll definitely be going back!

Love these guys , I had the Ash ice cream , absolutely the best ice cream ever , felt so good after words . If I had eaten dairy I would have had a stomach ache all day , love the clean , compassionate and environmentally friendly ingredients , you guys rock , can you open a store in the north end too

It's very good ice-cream. Doubtful you'll even notice it's vegan (except in the positive sense, like you're lactose intolerant and can actually eat this creamy dessert). The flavors are unique (like chocolate tahini, or cookie milk), and they rotate seasonal flavors into the mix each month. But $9 for a "mini scoop" ($6 single scoop) in a waffle cone (add $2.75)??? Plus 3% service charge, tax, and tip, you're looking at $11 per person on the "cheap" end. That is outrageous. Definitely a splurge and not an all-occasion ice-cream.

Frankie & Jo's is vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and peanut free... which makes me feel less bad about eating ice cream cause I'm basically just eating plants haha. But really, their ice cream is amazing and you wouldn't think it's dairy free. It's lighter but it still satisfies that ice cream craving! I've tried several of their ice cream flavors and have enjoyed all of them. Their California Cabin is creamy with lots of yummy cookie bits and their golden milk has turmeric ginger flavor with small cookie chunks. All of their flavors have aa classical twist to them and I'm always excited to check out their seasonal flavors. Their waffle cone is SO good that I often cave and get it cause the smell of it is too good to resist. I love the service here, you are always greeted with a smile when you come in which makes the experience even better. If you're looking to try some great ice cream without so much of the heavy feeling of normal ice cream, definitely try Frankie & Jo's!! You most certainly will not regret it.

Delightful vegan ice cream. Kind of pricey, but totally worth it due to yummy flavors and clean-ish ingredients. My favorite flavor was the spring seasonal lemon shortbread!

Dairy free. Gluten free. Peanut free. Seriously so delicious. The waffle cone is expensive but super tasty to add on. I got the Chocolate Tahini Supercookie and the waffle cone. Highly recommend. To be honest, I don't have any diet restrictions but I came here with someone that did. It was such a relief to have ice cream that actually tasted good despite not having many of the ingredients that typically make up cookie dough ice cream! Was it as good as "normal" ice cream? Yes! There was a small line but it was not too bad at all. Plenty of parking around the corner too.

I really wanted to like this ice cream shop. I'm not vegan but I liked that it's a vegan ice cream to accommodate vegans as well. My one star review is because of the crazy wait. It took an hour just to get ice cream. At one point we waited in a long line that didn't move for 30 minutes. Yes, you read that right. I stood like an idiot for 30 minutes in a line that didn't move at all. Turns out there was only one girl working on a Sunday afternoon and she basically stopped taking orders just to make waffle cones even though there were 34 people waiting outside in a line. Even when the line started moving again it was really slow. The girl working was nice but she didn't seem to care about people having to stand outside in the heat who are waiting forever just for an ice cream. The flavors seemed very unique and fun but to be honest... the flavors were forgettable. It basically just tasted like coconut milk. Also the way she made the cones had a huge hole on the bottom!!! So you end up wearing the ice cream if it starts to melt. If you do decide to brave a long line when they are understaffed on a weekend, go for a cup instead of the cone. Also, the prices were ridiculous. For 2 basic waffle cones, we paid almost $20! This business needs to hire more people if they want to stay in business

We came here on a whim, as we were in the area with the intention of going to another ice cream shop but found that Frankie and Jo's was closer and on our way home anyways. I honestly hadn't heard about them before coming here, but all the people standing outside enjoying their ice cream was a good sign so we found some street parking and walked up. I got a scoop of Salted Caramel Ash and California Cabin in a waffle cone, and my mom got a scoop of the Strawberry Beet Rose sorbet in a waffle cone. All the flavors were dairy and soy free, and the cones gluten free as well. Everything was delicious!! I actually loved the sorbet the most but the others were great too. And the cones were worth the additional cost - they've got a firm but crumbly texture so you can tell that they are using a high quality batter with real ingredients. No commercially processed cones here! Speaking of prices, our two cones (one single scoop and one double) totaled a little under $20. Definitely on the pricy side for an ice cream, but totally worth it as an occasional indulgence. Writing this review has made me crave some more..

Some of the best dairy-free and gluten free ice cream out there! The seasonal flavors are always super fun, and get us coming back each month. Scoops are pricey but a mini is plenty at $4.50, especially if you get it on a waffle cone (extra $2 I think). I wish there were more flavors available year round, because if the seasonals aren't particularly appealing to you, options are a bit limited. I wish there was a coffee ice cream year-round, and some other staples like pistachio, cookies and cream, strawberry or chocolate chip. There are only 2 flavors sweetened with dates, and most of the seasonals are made with cane sugar, which is a bummer. Lastly, while all of the ice creams are gluten free, the oats used are not organic and therefore likely have high levels of glyphosate. Because this place definitely attracts the health conscious, it would be amazing if they switched to organic and gluten free oats. Opting for the 2 coconut milk based, flavors until then (oat free).

Frankie & Jo's is wonderful! All vegan, all delicious! Similar size as the Capitol Hill location, this is their second spot in the city. Tucked away in a Ballard neighborhood off 70th. Definitely worth coming by if you live nearby or not. I'm a big fan of all their seasonal flavors so that's my motivation each month to come by and check them out. Despite it being August, they still have their seasonal July flavors on rotation. I sampled all 3 and decided to get a scoop each of the "Kale Lime Leaf" and the "Berries & Fermented Cream". Each of them were very good, even better as a combo in your cup. Absolutely delicious! Waffle cones are made in-house and the smell of them will lure you in. Staff was very friendly, no issues when sampling, they have some benches to sit as you enjoy your vegan ice cream, some chairs outside as well. Prices are a little high but it's nicely made and worth it in my book. I'm not remotely anywhere close to being a vegan or even a vegetarian for that matter and I don't want to be. You won't be able to tell the difference when having this ice cream, creamy and wonderful innovative flavors and just super tasty! As long as it taste good, I'm in!
