Lebanese bakery serving shawarma, flatbreads & over 70 items

"Furn Saj is located on the far northern edge of The Valley in Granada Hills, but if you’re within even a 20-minute drive, you need to be eating at this Lebanese restaurant/bakery. A meal at this family-run strip mall spot can be overwhelming—the menu features more than 70 dishes—so we recommend starting with either chicken or beef shawarma (both are among the best we’ve eaten in LA) and ending it with a visit to their baked goods case. The saroukh (bread filled with cheese, onion, and parsley) is crunchy, savory, and just a little spicy, and you can chase it down with some rice pudding at the end." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"Rather than being famous for one item that blew up on social media, this family-run Lebanese bakery in Granada Hills makes over 70 different incredible things, including buttery cheese boats, falafel pies, and zesty za’atar saj. Even their shawarma is some of the best in town. Grab a sweet labneh and honey flatbread on the way out or don’t even bother telling people you came. There are also locations in Calabasas and San Diego if you need a stop on your next road trip as well." - brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore, cathy park
"Furn Saj is a Lebanese restaurant/bakery in Granada Hills, with other locations in Calabasas, and Glendora. If you’re within 20 minutes of any of these shops, you need to make a stop. A meal at this family-run spot can be overwhelming—the menu features more than 70 dishes—so we recommend starting with either chicken or beef shawarma (both among the best we’ve eaten in LA) and ending with a sampling from their incredible baked goods case. "Furn Saj is one of the best bakeries in LA. There are over 70 bready specialties on the menu, including standouts like zesty za’atar saj and labneh and honey-topped flatbread. Make sure the classic lahme b’ajine is included in your order, too. The charred crust is thin and crisp, but what stands out most is the generous layer of savory ground beef on top. It comes with a lemon wedge to squirt on top, but ask for two. The citrus tang takes the combination to another level." - sylvio martins, andrew ryce, brant cox, cathy park
"Head to Furnsaj for the freshly baked mana’ish, a Lebanese flatbread available with toppings including za’atar, cheese, labneh, ground beef, and more. The kitchen also features a set of shawarma towers featuring highly-seasoned beef and chicken, perfect for piling onto plates and enjoying with the restaurant’s tangy saj bread — a thin unleavened bread baked on a domed oven or metal griddle. Those who want to skip the building can just get shawarma, gyro, or ground luleh beef in saj wraps stuffed with garlic, pickles, and fresh tomatoes for an easy meal on the go." - Mona Holmes
