Hugo's Seafood Bar - Review - Bishop Arts - Dallas - The Infatuation

"Run by two guys named Hugo, this 28-seat bar delivers on its name. It’s also a fun place to kill an afternoon or a whole evening slurping oysters and sipping cocktails. Those seats fill up fast, so show up early or come solo to ensure a spot. The milk-washed Blame It on the Juice is one of the best cocktails we’ve had this year, lightly fruity and floral from the honeydew-infused vermouth. We liked it with the scallop aguachile swimming in a spicy green liquid that’ll bolt you upright. Or get a half-dozen Royal Oysters, which—considering they’re topped with uni and caviar—is a pretty reasonable use of $45. But it’s not all snacks and seafood here. There’s an incredible burger sporting jammy caramelized onions and melted gruyere that’s worth suggesting a name change to Hugo’s Burger Bar." - Kevin Gray

Best New Restaurants in Dallas July 2025 | Eater Dallas

"A new raw bar in Bishop Arts, from (and named after) chef Hugo Galvan (formerly of Flora Street Cafe) and mixologist Hugo Osorio, opened in January. Look for scallops crudo served on a beautiful half-shell, ahi tuna tostadas, a daily variety of oysters, and cocktails galore. The lobster rolls and burgers are also worth a try, and best paired with one of the house martinis." - Courtney E. Smith

The Best Dishes Eater Dallas Ate in May 2025 | Eater Dallas

"A menu of varied seafood plates, highlighted by a simple but captivating ahi tuna tostada served on a double corn tortilla with a base of smooth whipped avocado and square-cut raw tuna tossed in a house garlic-soy sauce that reads like a fancier chamoy, finished with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions. The beverage program shines too—the cocktail 'Blame It On The Juice' (Tanqueray, blanc vermouth, infused honeydew, suze, and a milk wash) is a bright, summery companion." - Courtney E. Smith

Best Seafood Restaurants in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Named after chef-owner Hugo Galvan (formerly of Flora Street Cafe) and mixologist Hugo Osorio, this new raw bar in Bishop Arts opened in January. Look for scallops crudo served on a beautiful half-shell, ahi tuna tostadas, a daily variety of oysters, and cocktails galore. Start the meal with an oyster shooter, served in a ceramic shell atop a small glass with a savory and spicy mignonette. The seafood tostadas are also worth a try and pair well with a summery, clarified gin cocktail called Blame It on the Juice. The ramshackle space has cool exposed walls and an octopus painted into the dining room, which could be taken as a bit of whimsical fun or a warning." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
Tiny but mighty! This restaurant is absolutely amazing and a MUST for any seafood lover. Everything we have ordered is full of flavor and so fresh. Cocktails are also so good. So nice to have a legit seafood spot in BA!

Google
Amazing quality fish and oysters. Their cocktails are amazing, small vibe place. If I lived here I’d be a regular. So good! The yellowtail was thick sliced and very fresh (hard to find). Same thing with the tuna. Really liked the Tequila Smash. The Hugo Spritz was probably the most creative cocktail I’ve ever tried - it has cantaloupe boba tea floaters in it. Really delicious and a cool drink experience!

Google
Their seafood is high quality and delicious. We ordered a dozen oysters which are delicious . My boyfriend said the lobster roll was one of the best he’s ever had, even better than spots on the east coast. I ordered the ahi tuna , and let me tell you, it reminds me of being back in Hawaii. It’s so delicious and fresh. I can’t wait to return again and again.

Google
The neighborhood desperately needed a spot like this. They make a perfect dirty martini, the oysters are so great, and the tostadas, honestly, are as good if not better than Contramar (I would wait in a line for “the ultimate”). Highly respect their burger, and the lobster mac is piled with real lobster. Hope Hugo’s stays forever we will be regulars!

Google
Great for drinks and light bites. Drinks were well crafted and offered at a great price for these days. Wish there were more food options though as the little bites I had were good but limited. No seafood mains either for a seafood spot. Would gladly come back just for drinks or oysters though!

Google
This cozy spot is all heart. Everything on the menu - kitchen and bar both - is a work of love and while it’s a small restaurant, it doesn’t feel crowded. Weekend brunch means the full menu PLUS extra brunch dishes and fewer crowds than weekend nights, so that’s what I’d recommend. Everything we had was amazing, and it’s definitely a new fave spot.

Google
An excellent new addition to the Bishop Arts District area. I went with a group of friends to try out the place and we loved it. The lobster and crab croquettes are sublime. The oysters are fresh and delicious. The lobster roll.. a knockout. This place doesn’t miss. I can’t want to go back to try the other items on the menu. definitely stop by for your seafood fix. Thanks Chef!

Google
A beautiful intimate place, good alone, with friends or your partner. The food is consistently delicious along with the drinks as well, I’m making my way through the menu and haven’t found a thing I don’t like yet. Don’t waste anymore time, get here ASAP!

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Tasty food. Eclectic choices. Just a quarter-block from the heart of Bishop Arts, nestled between a board game shop and a touristy t-shirt store, sits Hugo's. Sure, it's a bar--but it's also a restaurant, a caviar bar, and a relaxed neighborhood hangout. Hugo's feels both local and national. You can sample Texas-sourced caviar, slurp down East Coast oysters, or bite into a lobster roll that could hold its own in Nantucket. I would've liked a broader wine selection, but the curated list was solid. Whether you're in the mood for a drink, a few small bites, or a taste of the East Coast in the middle of North Texas, Hugo's is worth a stop.

Yelp
Came in around dinner time on a Thursday evening to a more than half full restaurant. The vibe inside felt very New York to me, this could have easily been a small restaurant tucked away in a SoHo neighborhood. Our waiter was very friendly and the food came out in a perfectly measured time frame. First, I want to mention that I think the thing they do best here is their craft cocktails. Excellently balanced no frills drinks. I would have happily enjoyed their entire cocktail menu. We decided to order small bites off their starter/appetizer menu only. To be honest, the options on the mains/entrees seemed kind of basic leaving something more to be desired. The ahi tuna tostada (waiter recommendation) was maybe my favorite bite of the meal. It was very beautiful to look at it, the tostada crisp was exceptional, the flavor on the ahi was big and bright, and the avocado added a wonderful finish to the bite. The caviar sampler for me was a nice experience but honestly there was too much crème friache served with the caviar bite and it kind of overwhelmed the delicate flavors of the caviar. The grilled oysters eaten with the toasted crostini were solid but the flavors were kind of tamped down and muted, it definitely needed that squeeze of lemon on top with it. The lobster croquettes you can tell were freshly made and tasted really good along with the veloute sauce they served them with, for me though, texturally, they was very soft and mushy and there wasn't a lot of crunch on the fried exterior of the croquette. All in all still a very delicious meal and I hope more people come to visit Hugo's. Bishop Arts could really use more restaurants like this!

Yelp
Amazing place! Bishop arts needed a new and contemporary take on the raw seafood bar. Oysters are 10/10. I don't think I had a bad plate and I've tried multiple things from their menu Ambiance is private/small/intimate. Hands down my new go to bar/dinnerspot

Yelp
Every single dish is top of the line! Creatively conceived, perfectly executed, and beautifully plated. I could not be more impressed! The garden salad with beets was as beautiful as it was tasty. The redfish was perfect!

Yelp
Service was on point with recommendations and timing. Everything we ordered was great, especially the oysters and tuna tostadas. Their Blame it on the Juice cocktail with melon and milk wash was amazing. Quaint, casual space off Davis with good music and people watching.

Yelp
An absolute must stop! Ambiance and service was exceptional and the food was 10/10! Enjoyed a half dozen oysters which came with their homemade hot sauce, the lobster croquettes that were generously filled with buttery lobster, and finished with the house cheeseburger, perfectly grilled and packed with flavor.

Yelp
Food, drinks, service are all always fantastic. Small restaurant but lively and we can always get a table after work. We usually get oysters, shared plate, and two entrees. The burger is amazing and the seasonal specials too. Mario is always welcoming and friendly. We've been once a month since we moved to Bishop Arts. Couldn't recommend Hugo's more...

Yelp
had an incredible experience at Hugo Seafood & Drinks! From start to finish, everything was amazing. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. I ordered the shrimp pasta and a pineapple mezcal drink--both were absolutely delicious! Every bite was packed with flavor, and the drink was refreshing and perfectly balanced. We also had an appetizer that was just as impressive. The entire experience was so good that I find myself dreaming about going back. If I could give it a 10 out of 10, I would. I highly recommend Hugo's if you're looking for amazing food, great drinks, and a fantastic environment!
