"Jowong is a Korean restaurant serving excellent gimpab, tteok-bokki, and galibi in a relaxed setting—this place is cozy with low ceilings and wooden tables adorned with tiny bud vases. Start with some classic banchan like pickled eggplant and myeolchi with potatoes, before moving on to their MVP—creamy kimchi carbonara pasta, loaded with parmesan, egg, and bacon. What else keeps us coming back is their friendly, attentive service that isn’t too overbearing, mellow music for added chill, and hotteok (pancakes) topped with butter ice cream that’s both delicious and fodder for your feed." - guillaume guevara

"Mexico City is an increasingly diverse dining destination. Take restaurants like Jowong, which has gained popularity in part thanks to a blossoming Korean community. Historically, Zona Rosa has been the Korean enclave in the city; in 2023, however, Jowong secured a home in Condesa in what was formerly a Chinese cafe. Now, with a minimalist approach and keen attention to detail, Jowong captures the attention of diners with dishes like a Korean Caesar salad with seaweed and yuzu or crispy corn with Sichuan pepper. The main dishes are also a treat, so order the Korean feast — marinated prime rib, bulgogi, banchan, rice — as well as the fried chicken with gochujang." - Natalia de la Rosa, Daniela Galarza

"Jowong falls in line with Mexico City’s new wave of scene-y Korean restaurants, like Dooriban, and this one serves excellent gimpab, tteok-bokki, and galibi in a relaxed setting. This spot is tucked on a quiet street in Condesa, and is cozy with low ceilings and wooden tables with tiny bud vases. Start with some classic banchan like pickled eggplant and myeolchi with potatoes, before moving on to their MVP—creamy kimchi carbonara pasta, loaded with parmesan, egg, and bacon. Another reason we keep coming back: friendly and attentive service that isn’t too overbearing, mellow music for added chill, and hotteok (pancakes) topped with butter ice cream that’s as delicious as it is fodder for your feed. " - guillaume guevara

"Nestled in a quiet, tree-lined avenue of Condesa, Jowong could easily be mistaken for another of the fashionable neighborhood’s many cafes. The space, which opened in late 2023, is decorated with whitewashed walls, mint-green booths, and minimalist wooden furniture, none of which immediately hints at the dishes that hit tables." - Robyn Huang

A Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant creating quite the buzz with intriguing and tasty dishes, inconsistent (though occasionally good) service, and a hefty price tag. Visiting as a walk-in on a Saturday (reservations highly recommended), we were informed of a 45-minute time limit to dine due to a reservation scheduled shortly after—a rushed experience that felt less than ideal but manageable. To accommodate more guests, they divided a table for four into two smaller tables, squeezing us together with another party. While this setup worked, the tables were far too close, making the whole experience feel cramped. The servers handed us menus, but their hurried demeanor toward walk-ins like us felt noticeably different compared to other tables. This rushed service left a sour first impression. We quickly ordered the arroz gimbap and macarela braseada (grilled mackerel). The gimbap arrived shortly after, followed by the fish. The rice dish was visually appealing but disappointingly small for the price. The flavors were decent but not extraordinary (7.5/10). The mackerel was fresher and more satisfying, though the portion was also smaller than expected. I did enjoy the sauce that accompanied the fish, though. Unfortunately, we left still feeling hungry, which didn’t justify the elevated price of the meal. Toward the end of the meal, the service softened a bit, with recommendations for popular dishes—helpful for a return visit but less meaningful given the rushed experience we had. The inconsistency in service was evident, leaving us to question why the restaurant would prioritize squeezing in extra guests on such tight time limits at the cost of delivering better service. Another small but noticeable detail was the silverware placement: while the chopsticks and spoon came neatly on the plate, the rest of the utensils were placed directly on the bare table, which felt unhygienic. On the bright side, the restaurant itself is beautifully designed, with greenery adding a charming touch to the small space. The atmosphere was delightful, even if the food and service lagged behind. While the dishes were enjoyable, the rushed experience, inconsistent service, and cramped seating dampened the overall impression.

A Culinary Gem in Condesa: Jowong! While searching for a Korean restaurant in Polanco, we found Jowong (in Condesa) and decided to take a detour to try it out, not realizing it was a fusion spot. What a delightful discovery! The quality of the dishes at Jowong matches that of many Michelin-star restaurants I've visited. The staff was exceptionally courteous, and one of the owners surprised us with a complementary dish that was nothing short of superb. For starters, the Crispy Corn is a must-try—it was a standout! Jowong is undoubtedly the place to be in CDMX, particularly in the trendy Condesa neighborhood. I wish I had tried the cocktails, next time!

What a great find, we happen to be walking by the restaurant and spoke with our waiter after looking at the menu we decided to eat here. The service is great they always kept the water filled and we're very attentive. The food was amazing it's a Korean spin on different plates. The spaghetti carbonara was very tasty. The fried chicken was amazing with watermelon and heirloom tomatoes side dish. The atmosphere is nice, we sit on the patio. I would go back!

What a beautiful oops. Missed my reservation at Pujol and walked into this place at the recommendation of a friend. And I couldn't have had a better dinner! The food blew us away - surprising, delicious, and fun. We were lucky to land here, because I expect I won't be able to easily get a reservation for long. Can't wait to visit again and see what else this team does. Thanks again to Chef Greg and the amazing team!

We went on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty relaxed. The restaurant is beautifully designed down to the last detail with lots of tables inside and out. The menu is Korean with Mexican twists - very playful and creative on flavours, and delicately executed. The team behind the restaurant brings a lot of experience from well known powerhouses in NY. We ordered the squid, fried chicken, mackerel and beans. The fried chicken and mackerel were refined takes on very classic Korean dishes. The cocktails were fun and delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. It came to about 1400 for two apps, two mains and a cocktail each — and they threw in two banchan dishes. I think this place would be great for a large party where you can order more to share — and they have a rounded booth for this. A wonderful experience and I hope to return to try more.

Jowong effortlessly blends authentic Korean cuisine with delightful local twists, creating a unique culinary experience. The fusion results in a menu that speaks to both traditional Korean tastes and local palates. Their tteokbokki and fried chicken are standout dishes, perfectly marrying flavors that satisfy the Korean palate while offering a unique twist that sets them apart. If you're in for a delightful culinary adventure that respects tradition yet ventures into creativity, Jowong is a must-visit! At Jowong, not only does the cuisine impress, but the service also stands out as incredibly attentive. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience, adding to the overall enjoyment of the flavorful dishes.

WOOOOW! What an amazing place, I’m still reminiscing of all dishes and cannot choose which one I liked the best. Best if you go with a group of 4-6 people so you can share several dishes and try them. Definitely order the rice, esquites and Korean BBQ.

Blown away!!! Hit this spot fast before you can’t get in. Just wow - creative, playful and interesting these young chefs make flavourful dishes (they have pretty impressive resumes too!) Using local ingredients for a twist on classic Korean dishes. Everything was delicious, try the corn, fried chicken and the stuffed pepper - this place is a ten. Don’t miss dessert. Service is very nice as well.
