The 13 Best Chinese Restaurants In Miami

"This Fontainebleau spot (the neighborhood, not the hotel) does some really good Cantonese barbecue. With the exception of one small high-top table on the sidewalk, they’re strictly a takeout operation. The pipa duck—a spatchcocked version of Peking duck with a much crunchier exterior—is worth ordering. King Duck’s crispy pork tastes like chicharrón that got a makeover. And you should definitely get a side of Cantonese pickles to balance out the meats’ richness—we like the green papaya. But the best thing to get here is the house special rice noodles: stir-fried thin rice noodles topped with lap cheong sausage and an assortment of meats, including that amazing crispy pork." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, carlos c olaechea

King Duck Chinese BBQ Review - Fontainebleau - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Fontainebleau spot does Cantonese barbecue, and you really shouldn’t stray much from their selection of duck, chicken, and pork hanging from meathooks in the windows. With the exception of one small high-top table on the sidewalk, they’re strictly a takeout operation. The pipa duck—a spatchcocked version of Peking duck with a much crunchier exterior—is worth ordering. King Duck’s crispy pork tastes like chicharrón that got a makeover: super crispy, bubbly crust that gives way to tender meat and buttery fat that’s surprisingly not greasy. Definitely get a side of Cantonese pickles to balance out the meats’ richness—we like the green papaya for its tang and crunch. But the best thing to get here, especially if you’re not feeding a crowd, is the house special rice noodles: stir-fried thin rice noodles with a touch of savory seasoning topped with lap cheong sausage and an assortment of meats, including that amazing crispy pork. Google
Nice hidden gem that sells legit Chinese food. Their dishes are authentic and feel like a home cooked meal. I'm raised in a Cantonese household and I would say this is something my parents would cook at home. This means that their dishes are hearty and not loaded with sodium or MSG like other Americanized Chinese restaurants. Portion sizes are good and price is fair. It's a local small business and they're hard workers so it feels good supporting them. Definitely worth revisiting.

Very good food for a reasonable price. The seating was tight but the rest of the experience made up for it. I had the crispy pork with rice and strawberry milk tea, really enjoyed both. Had a great time going with my friends :)

Google
Excellent Chinese food. We were visiting Miami from Toronto, and we were struggling to find good and authentic Chinese. Finally found this gem, and the daughter who owns the restaurant with her parents has been amazing. Service is top-notch. Delicious food, I highly recommend coming here for authentic Chinese cuisine. We will return the next time we come back to Miami!

Google
This place is great! It recently just opened but is fully working and with an awesome menu. It's kind of a mom and pop shop with authentic flavor. We ordered crispy pork and pig ears. So good! The staff is very friendly and you can tell they make everything fresh. Highly recommended! UPDATE 01/2020: Ordered the roast duck but instead of combo we had the sticky rice with a side of pickled combo. Plus we shared the pig ears (can't have enough), marinated tea eggs and the honey roast pork noodle soup. Added all photos because the flavor is amazing and can't even describe.

Google
I was impressed how good their food is, if you are wanting to try out Chinese BBQ I would recommend this place! I personally would recommend getting the Roasted Duck Noodle, it is a must try!

That portion won’t make it home So better order the pound 😝 lol

King Duck Chinese has long been on my list but I have held on off coming since I had heard some mixed reviews from friends. I have to say that my experience here with my boyfriend turned that around! I came on a weekday shortly after they had opened. For Chinese meat delis like this, I always try to get there early so that I can eat/take home everything after its been freshly made. My boyfriend and I started with the marinated chicken wings and feet. The flavors were great and I loved it but my boyfriend disliked it since it was served chilled. For the barbecue meats we decided to each get a two meat combo to share so we could try a little of everything. We tried the roast duck, the spare ribs, the white chicken and the roast pork. Its served with vegetables and white rice that you can upgrade to fried rice for an additional price. My boyfriend got the fried rice which was good though I preferred the white since it could make the meal overbearingly heavy. All the meats were delicious but I have to highly recommend the chicken as something you may not think to order there. It's steamed and sooooooo moist with hints of a floral flavor---DELICIOUS. Probably will be back soon to pick up my mom a whole duck since they offer reasonable prices!

Google
As a Cantonese, I think King Duck BBQ is the most authentic Cantonese BBQ in South Miami so far. ( Not exaggerating!) I always order BBQ combo, roast duck and honey roasted pork are my favorite! Highly recommended! Also, I always order the Cantonese soup and the duck bun when I’m not very hungry, trust me it is a good combination! Plus, the Peking Duck is sososososo good!! I have a bird stomach so I always order half of the duck, good duck+ good sauce= KING DUCK!

Yelp
Spectacular!!! The Peking duck is crispy, delicious and it comes deboned so it's ready to put in your pancake. It's served with julienned green onion and cucumber and hoisin sauce. The BBQ ribs are great too. I can't wait to go back to try more things. The place is in a shopping center so there's parking. Everything was ready in about 15 minutes. The lady was very nice and everything was clean with cute lucky cats everywhere. Oh and I tried the taro bubble tea which was also great!

Yelp
Anytime I want some good Chinese takeout, some Cantonese menu items, some excellent soup, or roasted duck, honey roasted pork, this place is my go to spot. While they have the typical Chinese takeout menu, their Cantonese menu is where I like to hangout, it's a nice change from orange chicken.... The flavors and preparations are more authentic, fresh and unique compared to your standard Chinese takeout joint on this menu, and worth trying. My go to has been the three meat soup, a slow cooked broth mixed in with excellent, chewy egg noodles, fresh vegetables land topped with your choice of protein. I go for the roasted duck, honey sliced pork and sometimes the chicken or the pork belly, so tasty, hearty and filling. Give this place a shot, it's in a small shopping strip and great for takeout.

Yelp
Excellent food. We got the BBQ pork, Peking duck, and beef chow mein. All was very good and authentic. The inside is very small--just room for a table or two but service was excellent and friendly. Seems like it is mostly takeout. Fair prices. Highly recommend.

Yelp
King duck do not have a sit down area. It is a to go order place for Chinese BBQ. They carry many type of BBQ meats. We got the BBQ pork, crispy pork, roast duck. We did not get the grilled chicken or other braised item. The food are delicious event we carry and eat three hours later. The crispy pork has good crispy pork skin. It is good with glass of Pinot Noir.

Yelp
If you have never had Chinese BBQ, don't let this be your first experience. Actually, skip this place entirely as it gives Chinese BBQ a bad name. My family and I ordered 3 BBQ plates with Honey Roast Pork, Crispy Pork and Roast Duck. Looked good, even appetizing. But looks can be deceiving. When I opened up my container, the first thing that caught my eye was how good everything looked. I picked up the first piece of duck to try, just to quickly realize it was a NECK piece. For those of you that don't know, there is 0 meat on the neck - it's basically just the skin covering a weird neck shaped bony structure. Ok, first piece was disappointing. On to the next but lo and behold A SECOND neck piece! Guess what? Third piece of duck was ALSO neck. At this point I'm already halfway through my duck pieces on my plate, and didn't manage to actually get any duck meat. Fourth piece was the lower half of a duck drum. If you know, you know but for those that don't, duck drums are very lean on meat, especially the lower half. Great, more bone! Having gone through most of my duck without eating any, I was pretty disappointed and went for the Roast Pork. As I popped the first piece in my mouth and bit down, I felt grizzle. It wasn't just a piece - literally the entire piece was grizzle. Immediately spat it out. Second piece I managed to bite all the way through, but it was ALL FAT. Literally 100% of it was fat. As a matter of fact the rest of the pork was all fat and grizzle. And unlike real Chinese BBQ places, none of the pork was charred and well cooked (actually it seemed like the pork might have been undercooked). I don't mind eating charred/well-cooked fat, but this garbage they served was disgusting. I probably had 1 fully edible bite of protein on my whole entree. I threw 95% away. What's worse, when I showed the owner they smiled and offered a very insincere "I'm sorry, let us know next time to give you better meat". Right, like I'd ever let you fool me again. BTW, the place was filthy and hot, and if you ever have the misfortune of using their dirty bathroom you'll realize there is no soap, and this is the same bathroom their kitchen staff uses. If you want good BBQ there is a very popular one on NE 163rd St in North Miami. Best one there if you are looking for a genuine experience. There's another one in Davie which a quick search will reveal. Neither of these places will be serving garbage and hoping you are too naive to question it. Don't let King Duck serve you garbage like it did to me and my family. Honestly I'm embarrassed for them. 1-star only because I can't give 0.

Yelp
My friend brought the duck from here for our Friendsgiving celebration and it was the star of the show. Crispy skin over the duck was so yum. Wrap it up with some greens and plum sauce and it is just so perfect. I was surprised at how good this was. Better than the fancier restaurants I've experienced at, imo. Give them a try Happy Holidays!

Yelp
For clarity: did not try the duck (yet!) Come here with my husband and was shocked by how good their soup was. My husband had some kind of char siu and it was delectable! I really want the roast duck soup next time!! My husband is from hong Kong and was impressed. This light beef out new place! Can't wait to try the whole duck too! The people next to us spoke only Spanish and ordered by pointing and wouldn't shut up about how good the duck was so I just know the plate is goooodddd

Yelp
Definitely a hole in the wall, their portion was amazing. We loved their DUCK! their Cabbage was so season and good. Their lo-mein was great as well. Customer service was amazing.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Chinese bbq and Cantonese style duck, look no further! This is a mom and pop Chinese restaurant that sells Chinese Americans and some authentic Chinese dishes (primarily Cantonese from what I can tell). I liked that the char siu wasn't overly sweet, but still flavorful. The duck was a little gamey according to my boyfriend, but I love the taste of duck so I didn't notice. The wonton noodle was also a hefty portion. Again, it was Cantonese style shrimp and pork wonton (and where else in Miami will you find that?). There's only one table inside and two small spots outside, so more of a grab and go kind of place. Plenty of parking though!

Yelp
Their food is amazing and love the amount they give! Always leaves me full! I suggest their beef and broccoli or their lo mein!

Yelp
New Chinese added to my Rotation. Really good bbq and chow fun. Not so crazy about the "dumplings ". Looked like shu mi. And has corn in it. Not for me. Take out only. Very nice people.

Yelp
This place is worth a visit if you're looking for authentic HK-style roasted meats. I ordered the roasted meat platter, which had crispy roasted pig, honey char siu, and roast duck. In addition, I also ordered a yeung chow fried rice, Singapore rice noodles, sauteed baby bok choi, and a beef chow fun. Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the roast duck and beef chow fun. Prices are reasonable and the food was packaged well.

Yelp
At the recommendation of the girl that answered the phone, I ordered 3 lbs of crispy pork, 2 lbs of honey bbq ribs, 1 whole duck and a jumbo super special fried rice for 7 people. I should have ordered what I originally planned to because we less than 1/2 the duck, less than a pound of the crispy pork, less than a pound of the honey bbq ribs and about 1/4 to 1/3 of the rice. My husband kept telling me that I should cancel some of the food but the girl kept telling me that 1 lb of pork wasn't a lot and I didn't want to have too little food. The honey bbq ribs was disappointing. Don't get it. The crispy pork and the roast duck were delicious! The super special fried rice tasted like American fried rice with all the meat and shrimp piled on the top of the rice. A foodie friend of mine loves it but I wasn't impressed. I prefer a good Yeung chow fried rice. Overall, I recommend the crispy pork, the roast duck and the Peking duck from here. Keep in mind that 2 lbs of meat, 1/2 a duck with an order of rice will feed 7 people with leftovers.

Beverly K.

Yelp
First time here the duck looked appetizing. I tried the mixed soup was wonton and egg drop which I enjoyed and may ask for it mixed at restaurants that don't serve it normally. Tried the Peking roast duck with vegetables. Would not recommend this because there was no duck meat just fat and skin and it didn't taste very good. They may have a better duck dish but the one I had I wouldn't recommend. It is strictly a take out place no seating.

Yelp
I got the roasted duck noodle soup and passion fruit tea! The roasted duck is tender and delicious. Highly rec!

Yelp
Food was fantastic!! Service was great !! The place is very small , definitely not good te eat inside but worth the trip..

Nicole C.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible. Just ordered ubereats from here after reading the great reviews. Got the sesame chicken and general tsos. The "chicken" is either 95% batter or the chicken is completely dry it disappears and is inedible. Very disappointing.

Melissa O.

Yelp
Hole in the wall place. The Peking duck was great. Would like to try other roasted options next time.

Bella J.

Yelp
I got the 3 BBQ combination platter with the crispy pork and duck with a side of fried rice. The fried rice was decent in taste and portion. However, for the side of duck, I was only given 4 very very SMALL pieces that were mostly bone. If you were giving me only 4 small pieces for this platter, it should be reasonable that those pieces contain more meat. Duck in general does not have a lot of meat, but this was unacceptable. The flavor was mediocre. The crispy pork was decent in taste but again, 4 very small fatty pieces.

Throw This Account Away I.

Yelp
Atrocious!!! Ordered the duck and it was almost all bone, with little meat of low quality. The crispy pork wasn't crispy at all and super tough. The honey pork was the only slightly redeemable part of the meal, but the w part was that everything was room-temperature. it was the worst Chinese food experience I've ever had in my life, and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
One of my top favorite Chinese places in the Fontainebleau area! The fried rice tastes grilled and is very yummy. The chicken wings are excellent and one of my favorite menu items to get. The ladies are always very welcoming and process my orders quickly.

Yelp
Stopped at this restaurant because they were the closest place that had pig ears my husband was craving. When we got there we found it's a take out only restaurant. Don't be discouraged though as we were amazed. Why? The food was delicious! We had fried pork - delicious and crispy. The pig ears were good but not really what he was craving. The positive side of it - we discovered delicious fried pork and the wonton soup had great tasting fresh Wonton. So would we go back? Yeap! And do we recommend it - for sure! But remember ... it's a pick up only so make sure to place your order before heading their way and leave your table set at home so you can enjoy the food nice and hot. Bon appetite my friends!

Yelp
We got the crab rangoons and they were a litttttle small, otherwise, the food was delicious and delivered super fast. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
King Duck came recommended to me, so I had to try it. They have online ordering as well as in-person. They set up a window for orders at their front door with plexiglass all around, and a handy mechanism to grab your order with minimal contact with the workers. I ordered online and got the 3 BBQ combo plate with roast duck, crispy pork, and honey BBQ ribs (upgrade to special fried rice), along with a sugarcane herbal tea and steamed pork dumplings. Upon arrival, we decided to also order the Cantonese wonton noodle soup as well. They didn't have the sugarcane tea, so I ended up getting a mango fruit tea with star jelly instead. The wontons in the soup were good, but the soup itself had no flavor. I really enjoyed my mango tea, and my partner enjoyed his thai tea. The combo plate was delicious! My favorite was the roast duck, with the crispy pork being second. The fried rice was good as well. The honey bbq ribs didn't seem to be honey bbq ribs, so I'm not sure what we actually received there lol. The dumplings were a pass - filling wasn't great for me. Would recommend their bbq for sure!

Yelp
Duck. I am so screwed. This place was sooo reminiscent of my childhood, and so delicious! So yeah. Duck my life because it's like a 30 min drive from me at least, haha. Came for a late lunch and ordered from the Rice Plates section: + Honey BBQ Ribs with Special Fried Rice So. Ducking. Yum. (Ok, I'm done with the puns now!) My mom used to make honey bbq ribs as I was growing up, to the point that she made it all. the. time. when I mentioned I liked it, lol. But! It's been a while since I lived with my parents, so I don't get Mommy-made meals on the regular anymore. This? Was delish. The only downside is that you have to eat around the bone, but that's part of the appeal lol. Just be aware if you're anti-bone-in-food. Also, the special fried rice is mmmm! And the veggies it comes with, too. The portions you get for the price you pay is great. :) Can't wait to go back for this. + Roast Duck with Special Fried Rice My date ordered this, and it's good, but I'm always gonna have a huge crush for the Honey BBQ Ribs, haha. This wasn't crispy like I'd expect, but it's still good! I'm most excited to try the crispy pork next time I'm in the area. :) + Lychee Fruit Tea with Jelly For sips - if you like lychee, def try this. It's super refreshing, definitely sweet. Perfect for the summer/fall heat. + Honeydew Milk Tea with Boba I'm not a boba fan, so I make sure to sip from the top, lol. I liked this. The flavor was subtly sweet and had soft notes of honeydew + cream (or milk haha). It's not in your face the way the lychee is, but it's good! 10/10 would come back again to get more goodness.

Yelp
Great place to get Chinese BBQ. Typical place to get char-Siu(sweet roast pork), Siu-yok(crispy skin roasted pork), roast duck, open face roast duck and other things too. We also got the Shanghai bok choi which was delicious and the Chinese style wontons without noodles. Next time I want to get the rice noodles with beef. BTW - if you want to start trying things here, get the combo with rice with 3 choices(char-soup, soy-Yuk and duck or you can double up on char-siu). Char-siu comes in lean or we call 1/2 and 1/2 lean to fatty(mostly that it is not as lean and may be fattier on some cuts, my fav).

Yelp
We got here early, around 11am when they just opened so we could catch the freshest made food; upon entering, they've already got their ducks in order (no pun intended) roasted 2 different ways, soy sauce whole chicken, chicken wings, bbq roast pork and roast pig that was soon to be out. We opted for the half duck with rice since it was what their business' name is all about. 3/5 Half Roast Duck $12.50 looked so beautiful hanging in the glass display that I was super stoked to enjoy it. This with white rice is yummy so that's what we ordered, a quart of white rice $3.00 which is cheaper than ordering a Roast Duck with Rice platter for $9.50 which you only get a quarter duck. The reason for 3 stars is that when you order a half duck, the person cuts up the duck in pieces and then....microwaves it for you! This is just unacceptable especially since their focus is on roast duck. From doing so, the skin is soft, not crispy the way it should be so it's much better at a restaurant when you order it. Normally, a restaurant will take the duck and hold it while they use a ladle and run hot oil over it to heat it up; this way the skin is super crispy and the meat is moist. We didn't order the roast pig but was given a sample and it was excellent; the skin was super crunchy and oh so good, I just wished the roast duck was served the same way. 5/5 Service was excellent by the young gentleman up front. Lastly, they only have a couple tables that seat 4 each so I imagine this place will need more tables in order for people to enjoy their food who can't wait to take it home. It's a small tight place but I just hope they can fix the issue with serving crispy skinned duck.

Yelp
This spot is really authentic Chinese food. When I was looking for a new Chinese place I was skeptical about trying this one out because of its small menu but I actually loved it afterwards. Whenever a restaurant has a smaller menu the quality is always phenomenal. I got the special fried rice as well a marinated egg and they were both amazing! The prices here are very good as well and it's an inexpensive quick dinner for when you don't want to cook. I usually feel bad after eating Chinese food because sometimes it's extremely greasy but this place was so good. I have been back a few times since my first visit because I was very pleased!

Yelp
I don't think there is any dispute that Gou Lou Cheong has been making the best Cantonese BBQ in South Florida. Unfortunately it's a really long trek for Miamians, so when we heard that there is a new BBQ place that opens up in the old Chinese Guy location, we are more than eager to give it a try. King Duck's business model is similar to GLC's. They specialize in Cantonese BBQ, such as roasted duck, roasted pork, char siu, and soy chicken, displayed hanging in the glass case. You can order them by the pound or with rice, to eat in or take out. There is also limited selection of Chinese tamale and dumplings. Compare to GLC, King Duck wins by having a few tables for eat in, takes credit cards, as well as offering bubble tea! Now on to the real challenge: the food! I did not get to try everything, but the char siu, ribs and roasted pork compares favorably to GLC's. The char siu has a very delicious glaze, the meat is on the lean side, even when we asked for a fattier cut. King Duck does not roast the whole hog, just the pork belly. Good news for those who love the layers of tender meat between melt-in-your-mouth fat. Again, the pork is nicely seasoned, but it does fall short of GLC when it comes to the skin. It's crispy and crunchy, but thin and not crackling which is the hallmark of the best Cantonese roast pork. Therefore, not quite 5 stars yet. However, considering how much more convenient this place is, I am sure to be back when the craving hits.

Yelp
King Duck was very good. I got there just as they were opening and there were already a few people waiting. Service is not too fast but isn't bad. I ordered a combination of duck and crispy pork (pork belly) the crispy pork was delicious. It all came with rice and steam veggies. Portions are big I would even say good to share... I couldn't finish my order. Duck was a bit chewy but flavorful. Next time I will try a different type of duck. The BBQ items from the window look so tasty.... that's what I will probably get. Overall it is a very good restaurant and very affordable.

Yelp
After reading some good reviews from King Duck. I decided the try it. I ordered the 3 meat BBQ combo with house special fried rice and cabbage. The meats I chose was Honey BBQ pork, Crispy Pork and roasted Duck. They had no indoor dining so I was stuck ordering take out. I was somewhat disappointed that there was no indoor dining. Nonetheless I ordered the take out. When I got home and opened the bag to start to eat, I must say that the packaging of the food and the way it looked made for a great presentation. I give them a plus for that. Now for the food. The Crispy pork was ok but not crispy at all. It was soft and because of that I felt the flavor was a little more greasy but definitely would say that it was slightly undercooked due to the uncrispiness. The roasted duck was ok as well but I felt it was more bony and lacked meat. The duck meat though was not bad at all. The honey bbq pork was ok too. Overall the meats failed to wow me. Other than that the house special fried rice was good as well as the cabbage. I'd definitely recommend at some point King Duck should have indoor seating. A place like this, Cantonese BBQ should be enjoyed right out of the grill to the table

Yelp
Because the food was so good I'm giving it 5 stars but we WOULD NOT RECOMMEND the honey bbq ribs. They were awful. Other than that everything else was delicious in our opinion. They also ran a special if you ordered over $40 or 50 you would be given a mask but we were not given one. Regardless I would order from here again if I was in the area and craving Chinese

Yelp
Best crispy pork in town. Totally original, just like in China!! A must try. Their food is really good

Yelp
After moving to west miami 3 years ago and failing miserably at finding great or even decent Chinese food and take away that didn't entail going to a large fusion type restaurant; looking for the tiny, hole in the wall, family owned and run, "point at the menu cuz u KNOW there's gonna be a language barrier --and that's perfectly a'ight!" joint... After several disappointing ventures into the world of the tasteless. I stumbled upon King Duck Chinese BBQ while power walking past it ( I'm trying to lose weight this year.) --What are the odds?! I know losing this one ab i have is important; but i had a responsibility to explore the possibility that this may be THE one... Ok. Wow. So the mixed egg drop/ wonton soup was delicious! The spring roll was fresh and light. I preferred it to the egg roll. I ordered shu mai ( steamed pork dumplings) which were good too. The honey garlic chicken was perfectly fried and juicy. The honey garlic sauce was thick, which was awesome, not watered down like in other restaurants. The combination dinner is about $10 and its a ton of food. The special fried rice is amazing and not overly salty which seems to be my luck with the others in the area and a splash of soy sauce later it's perfection. Hmmm, wait I ate a LOT. No wonder I'm a fat ass. But a HAPPY one now that i FINALLY found my go to Chinese joint. The staff is awesome super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend King Duck Chinese Barbecue. ALL HAIL THE KING!

Yelp
Best Cantonese BBQ I've had in Dade. A gem among mundane restaurants. Bear in mind that the dining area is closed (photo taken from park across the street). And should I mention all for $25?

Yelp
Saw this as new hot place on yelp, without a doubt I went on give it a shot ! To start off, this place didn't pick up the call till I called for the 4th time. When they finally picked up, I went on and place my order, maybe I called a little too early, they did not have everything on the menu. However, I ended up ordering honey bbq chicken wings and soy sauce chicken. The honey bbq wings was absolutely delicious, I loved everything about it, the sauce and how well it was made. But I was a bit disappointed on the soy sauce chicken. There was chicken hairs on the wing of the soy sauce chicken. Honey BBQ Chicken wings 5 star, soy sauce chicken 3 stars.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this place if you're trying to eat healthy. It was so salty I couldn't even take more than a few bites. It also had no flavor.

Yelp
This is not it for me. The food was bland. Dumplings were under cooked. Rice was flavorless and yellow. [horrible covid flashback] no taste. And the chicken was okay, but left a horrible taste in my mouth. I'm sad because Yelp in usually on point. Service was weird. I was the only order on the shelf and she checked like 12 times.

Yelp
First time, I have tried PIPA duck here .its pretty good.PIPA is the name of chinese musical instrument.PIPA duck tasted different from Roasted duck. You have to try it.Some people called it Guitar Ducks. They also have roasted ducks, crispy pork ,bbq pork and soy sauce chicken as well. I have to try them next time.

Yelp
The search for authenticity often is a road fraught with peril. Many places open up trying to bring the goods and are missing that magic element so I approached King Duck Chinese BBQ with caution. Sunday is a good day to hunt for food and I agreed to meet a coworker for King Duck Chinese BBQ because we were intrigued by the photos and reviews. First thing you should know is that there are 4 tables in King Duck Chinese BBQ. Two 4 seat tables and two 2 seat tables next to the meat counter. In these cramped quarters you also have people ordering things to go. We quickly decided on an array of Pork Chicarron Super Fried Rice, Half a Peking Duck, Shumai, and some Marinated Egg and were amused to watch them chop up duck, BBQ pork for the other patrons. Eventually our duck arrived on a giant plate along with a stack of pancakes. We rolled up the great duck and it exploded with richness, melting in your mouth determined to leave a best impression. The Pork Chicarron rice featured crispy pork belly but there was so much rice we were overwhelmed with the volume of the dish! Terrific value play here - or go with the pork as a standalone and get the smaller Fried rice. Back to the duck - the richness found in every bite is massive in flavor and the hoisin is a good counter to the richness. Service was very friendly and we found out King Duck Chinese BBQ is still new. I'm glad it's a new addition in the real Asian food rotation, you can also grab some bubble tea to celebrate. Check out the duck and help create a legend!

Yelp
Ratings: 4 09/07/2019 A family owned hole-on-whole Chinese joint hidden in a corner of a predominantly Hispanic business plaza. From the outside, you won't missed the signs of a typical (and may I add, legit) Chinese style cuisine with the golden-brown ducks hanging from the window like ornaments. Inside, the restaurant looks more like a take-out place. There are about 4 little tables for those super hungry to stay and dine-in. The menu is simple, with a few of the typical appetizers such as the pork buns; some noodle and soup dishes, and some entrees. But the piece de resistance are the crispy pork and duck!!! This is our 3rd time here. The Food: We ordered the pork buns to start and we were underwhelmed. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good neither. It came in a plate as opposed to one of those steam basket so the bun itself did not seem fresh off the steamer and the bbq pork was just ok too. I think I would very much prefer to have a piece of the crispy pork in that bun instead of the bbq. We also had the beef flank ramen. It arrived in a huge bowl, so it's totally shareable! It was good, it hit the spot, but I have to say that I had better. Then the crispy pork arrived and it was heaven from there. So they chopped it up right at the front from where all the goodies are hanging from the window and they warm it up in the kitchen. I think we ate it so fast, I forgot to take a photo! The meat is so tender and the fatty part just melts in your mouth and then you get that crunch of the skin and with the white rice and the sauce all together is an explosion of happiness in your mouth! The Pipa Duck is a crispier duck compare to the Peeking Duck. It does not have that weird, fishy or gamey after taste you would get from low quality ducks. The crispy skin with the buttery duck fat on hot white rice keeps me coming back for more. It's sooooo good! They are different ways to order these crispy goodness. You may have them a la carte or in like a meal combos. And if you're a little piggy like me and want to try all the meat they have in a meal, they have a combo for that too! For instance, I wanted some crispy pork and some pipa duck with my white rice and veggies. And my son wanted pork ribs and crispy pork. It was a win! We were able to share and enjoy more food later at home. The entire menu us reasonable priced. Oh, and they also serve different flavors of boba drinks and I always get the taro, it's good but I had better. Overall, if you're searching for mega pork or duck crispiness or if you just want something different than your typical chicharon, this is the place to be. The owners and servers are nice. The parking is horrible, especially during the weekend and lunchtime. I would call ahead and have a buddy drive you so that you can run inside and grab your food and go without parking. We had been lucky a couple of times but I dread parking here everytime. But they also do ubereats so that's another option for you to enjoy without going through the parking hassle. We will definitely come back for more.

Yelp

Yelp
Hooray!!! A good Chinese food option in the area. I ordered my typical order which I always do before branching out into other dishes. The sweet and sour chicken was really good. The chicken was moist and had a nice breading. I also liked the fried rice, krab rangoons, and wonton soup. The only thing I was less than satisfied with was the egg roll. It was still good but I've definitely had better. But overall this is a great choice for the area.

Yelp
Small mom and pop restaurant located in Sweetwater. They are following covid-19 protocol and doing only pick up and delivery. I have enjoyed some roast pork and duck, and crispy pork combination plate. They also do soups and traditional Chinese dishes.

Yelp
Disappointed...I will not return. Spent about 35.00 on a three meat platter and two drinks. Enjoyed the side of bok choy and the drinks better than the duck and pork..Service from telephone order to pick up services were nice. I really wanted succulent duck and pork...but this wasn't it.
