"The Watergate Hotel’s Kingbird restaurant got into a bit of (ahem) hot water a few years ago when a $400 tea appeared on the menu. Now there’s a weekend afternoon tea that’s a much more reasonable ($95 for adults). The swinging ’60s-themed menu on Saturdays and Sundays features retro desserts, finger sandwiches like Ivy City smoked salmon with caviar, and bottomless tea from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. View menu here." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky
"How does a 4-course menu at Kingbird sounds on Thanksgiving? The spread consists of gnocchi fritto, foie gras torch with fig mostarda, Murray Farm organic turkey with sourdough chestnut stuffing, cranberry orange compote and at the end, caramel apple cheesecake. There’s also a fusion plate of Thanksgiving lasagna. This seasonal creation features confit turkey thigh nestled between layers of herbed stuffing and buttery roasted sweet potatoes. Each slice is generously doused with a velvety gravy and cranberry for a healthy mix of tart and sweetness. Pricing is $145 per person and seatings is from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m." - Vinciane Ngomsi
"Kingbird’s decadent cherry blossom tea service (pictured) kicks off this weekend, but that’s not all the Watergate has in store this season. Guests can experience blooms firsthand with a Potomac River private boat ride from the historic hotel. Begin the excursion with a cherry blossom-themed welcome amenity and a Polaroid camera to capture the fun. Then head to the Next Whisky Bar inside the hotel for some cherry blossom cocktails made with Japanese umi cordial, strawberry-infused Rinomato Deciso, sake soda, and Hibiki crafted by master mixologist Kal Lemma. Chef Anthony DiGregorio and pastry chef Gail Krycia also developed dishes of their own. Specials are available until April 14." - Vinciane Ngomsi
"Sleek Kingbird in the Watergate hotel is walkable to the Kennedy Center. The restaurant offers a $56 pre-theater menu between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with a wine pairing for additional $35. The three-course menu features sophisticated, French-influenced American food like tuna carpaccio and lamb shoulder confit." - Travis Mitchell, Lisa Ruland
