Yelp
Kuu was exactly what I expected a semi-fancy sushi restaurant to be. Starting with the ambiance, it is fancy enough for a special date night, dimly lit, booths and high tables available. The servers and hostess were all very friendly throughout the night. My friend was able to get a dinner reservation for 7 last minute, but it was a weekday; I assume it will be much busier on the weekend.
The restaurant will cost a pretty penny depending on what you order.
Sou Vide Wagyu (3.5/5): this came with four pieces of wagyu, there was too much fig red wine reduction sauce on the wagyu, I had to scrap some off so it doesn't overpower the slice of wagyu, fig pieces felt plain and out of place, but the actual wagyu was very soft and flavorful
Lamb and Foie Gras (4.5/5): two lamb chops with a thick slice of foie gras on top; it was good, I am biased towards foie gras so I'd eat it with anything
Bison Tartare (2/5): the flavors were just not blending well, Korean beef tartare is much better
Miso Black Code (5/5): one of the better dishes we tried during this dinner, flavorful and soft
Crispy Duck (5/5): I love duck and the way this was prepared was similar to Peking duck where the skin is extremely crispy and separated from the meat, the sauce was great and compliments that duck
As for sushi, the restaurant did not have any fatty tuna (chutoro, otoro) or salmon belly, which was a bit disappointing. The server mentioned that it was due to their popularity on Valentine's Day. However, the items I really wanted were available. We ordered different pieces of nigiris: foie gras (5/5), Japanese uni (5/5), scallop with Japanese uni (5/5), ikura (4/5), akami (4/5), and hamachi (4/5). The cuts were reasonable sizes, reasonable amount of rice for each piece of nigiri, and the fish tasted fresh.
Throughout the night, we ordered rounds of tequila shots, which came out quickly. I would visit Kuu Restaurant another again another time when I visit Houston, maybe for a nice date.
There is valet parking, the valet guy is lowkey rude though.
