The 8 Best Restaurants At Urban Hawker Food Hall - New York - The Infatuation

"At this satellite stall of East Village bakery Lady Wong, you can get a lot of the same classic sweets, like rainbow kuih and cassava cake. But the real reason to make this a go-to lunch spot is the savory stuff. The tuna lemper—sambal-laced fish served encased in warm sticky rice—is the kind of grab-and-go meal you’ll find yourself craving all the time. You should also get the anchovy puffs." - Neha Talreja, Will Hartman

Urban Hawker, Direct from Singapore | The New Yorker

"At Lady Wong, an outpost of a New York-based bakery, I was especially taken with the rainbow kueh lapis, a beautiful steamed Indonesian layer cake made with tapioca and rice flours, coconut milk, and pandan extract, the rare example of a whimsical dessert that tastes as good as it looks." - Hannah Goldfield

Meet the Tortoise-Shaped Cake Everyone's Ordering at Lady Wong in NYC | Bon Appétit

"Opened in the East Village by chefs Mogan Anthony and Seleste Tan—alums of Jean‑Georges and WD‑50—after they began making kuih in their Westchester home and selling them out of the trunk of their SUV, this Southeast Asian sweets shop is best known for its Malaysian Chinese angku kuih, sold every weekend and now its top seller. They also make pandan serimuka (a pandan custard cake with a sticky‑rice crust) and mango curd pudding. The angku kuih features a glutinous rice‑flour dough tinted with pandan juice for a grassy, vanilla‑like flavor and beet or red rice powder for a prosperity‑red hue; the dough has a clay‑like, imprint‑holding texture, is wrapped around a caramelized mung‑bean filling (steamed and cooked with pandan and sugar until scoopable like ice cream), pressed into a tortoise‑shaped mold that symbolizes longevity, and steamed for about 20 minutes. Production began with a wooden mold passed down from Tan’s mother, though plastic and fiber molds are now used to meet demand." - ByKate Kassin

Google
Fantastic pastries and cakes! Well worth the price you pay. We ordered the strawberry guava entremet cake for my husbands birthday and it was a hit! Also got some of the other mochi pastries to-go and loved it. Packaged really well. Will come back again.

Alex P

Google
Suggestion: pandan panna cotta, kuih tier, strawberry shortcake It’s well worth the price you pay. The cakes are moist and not too sweet. Would definitely go again. Best product in my opinion is kuih tier

Anastassiya Petrova

Google
It is inside a food court. Really enjoyed all the adventurous flavors and the fact that it’s not too sweet! We got Sticky Mango Rice, Black Sesame Mousse, and La Islahan. Everything was fantastic!

Google
I found Lady Wong on my walk back from lunch and I tried a number of things...the only thing I really hated, is that I didn't try EVERYTHING! These southeast asian desserts are some of the best I've ever had. The Black Sesame passion fruit pastry was my favorite but the Lemon Mango Sticky rice treat was a close second. I had a few of the pandan cakes as well and finally the Matcha Mille Crepe cake that was next level. I highly recommend finding a Lady Wong's (there are a few thorough the city) and grab as much of the treats as you can (known to run out as well).

Cyannie Gen

Google
Small stand of baked goods and honestly would go again for their kuih lapis! Thankfully they had a location here in Urban Hawker since we were able to eat lunch and have some dessert right after.

Google
Great place for desserts! The guava cake is very good. Everything else we tried was great. Not overloaded with sugar, either. Very well made!

Google
It is my first time trying pandan dessert and it is incredibly amazing. Lady Wong is so yummy and special. I highly recommend the mango sticky rice cake, pandan matcha cake, and pandan mousse cup. Mango sticky rice is not in a traditional form, instead, it is very original and interesting. It is a cake with four layers inside and different tastes. You can taste mango cream mousse, mango jelly, coconut sticky rice, and crust at the same time. By the way, the crust is the best one I have ever tried before. For the Pandan Matcha cake, I love the strong matcha flavor with the pandan taste simultaneously. It will not be too creamy and sweet for me. With my favorite crust, I feel like I can eat two at one time. The appearance of the cake is also very pretty as well. The pandan mousse cup is very interesting for the self-added syrup. I am not sure if the syrup is maple syrup but it tastes complex and delicious. There are totally three layers: maple syrup crumbled biscuit on the top, pandan mousse in the middle, and coconut mousse at the bottom. If you like no cake dessert, it is your choice.

Google
Such delicious and beautiful desserts. I’ve been obsessed with calamansi lately, so I’m so glad I tried the Calamansi & Passionfruit cake. The cake was soft and moist, and the flavors of both the calamansi and passionfruit really came through. I tried several of their pandan flavored desserts too, and I LOVED them all! My favorite was the Matcha Pandan Tart. I got to try some of their kuih as well, Khanom Chan and Pandan Serimuka. Both were so good and perfect for pandan lovers! The staff was so kind and helpful as well, I really loved everything about my experience here.

Yelp
It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken, or to admit to a lapse in news judgment. I've been a staunch advocate for Urban Hawker, raving about it to co-workers and even insisting that people I've never met should check it out when visiting NYC. This fandom has generally worked well, introducing new people to outstanding cuisine in the middle of Chipotleland, but once took a dark turn when my evangelism was too stringent. But have I reviewed it on Yelp? My heart and my best intentions tell me I have, but the facts and evidence tell me I haven't. Smokin' Joe has a been standby, with a delightful curry sauce whether you get fish or chicken. In recent visits I've been trying Padi D'NYC. From the regular menu I've enjoyed lontong and beef rendang but if a nasi lemak special happens during your visit check it out. The most exotic option at Mr. Fried Rice is stingray fried rice. With a name like Prawnoholic, I've always gone for the crustacean side of things but tonight I learned that the Torched Sesame Pork Rib Noodles are great too, with a complex, spicy but not overpowering sauce.

Yelp
Super overpriced and overhyped imo. I got the chicken tiki masala from the Indian stand and it was soo bad like truly the worst Indian food I've had. First the color of the chicken and rice was so red it seemed artificial? And the chicken itself was so incredibly salty which made it hard to eat. 100% do not recommend. I also got the honey lemon sour plum from kopifellas and it was super mid and overpriced. Definitely wouldn't recommend or get again. I know this place is known specifically for Singaporean food but the prices in general are so high I just don't think it's even worth it.
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Underwhelming and overpriced. I've tried various stands here and there is variation amongst them, but overall, I would say that this place is just a giant disappointment. Having lived for a few years in Singapore, I will admit that my standards are high, but having to spend $20 on a small Hainanese chicken rice and thrice being told that they don't have prata just made me just roll my eyes at what a joke this place is. One time, I literally had to spend about $50 just to get moderately full because the portions were so small. And I was always appalled at what a poor value the desserts were-- I was basically paying $2 per bite! Taste-wise, none of this can compare with actual Singaporean food and I'm not sure if any recipes were adjusted to a blander American palette. Personally, I've just made the choice to never eat here again.
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
Lots of different vendors, so each person can choose what they want - Singaporean, Indonesian, Malaysian, Filipino, etc. I got lontong from Malaysian place, something I haven't had before, was very good.
google avatar

Tommy T.

Yelp
In a city with all types of food, this food hall is made up of several Asian themed food spots for what ever you feel like. I have eaten at a few spots and everything was tasty. I would say the Hainan chicken was my favorite but the ramen was also delicious. With many other options, I will definitely be back and would recommend this spot if you are craving some Asian food.
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
This Singapore-inspired Asian food market is located in the midtown entertainment center, and they have variety choices as a food court. I like this one stop idea for all kinds of Asian food.

T Y.

Yelp
Great food, service is good, ambiance is fine and average noise, lot of choices to choose. My favorite is Mee Rebus, Prawn Mee and Gado gado. Can't wait to go back soon.
google avatar

Phyoe T.

Yelp
My favorite Singaporean/ Malaysian food court near my office. Their matcha pandan crepe cake and pandan rice cake are to die for. Malaysian chicken satay are my go to bites here. Chicken rice is really good too. I like that they have a restroom downstairs. Since it's a food court, you can grab the utensils and napkins by yourself and put the trays back to the shelves after you're done eating.
google avatar

Masmin P.

Yelp
As a Malaysian, I loved this place! Such a great variety of stalls, each with a focus on the different Asian subcuisines. I tried out Padi d'NYC which specializes in authentic Malay food- lontong, mee rebus, nasi lemak, satay. The mee rebus was excellent and the chicken satay was also very good. Good sized portions, and halal too. The staff was friendly and spoke Bahasa with me. I liked the vibe of the food hall- a dressed up, trendier version of the hawker centers back home.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice to have authentic Singapore food n New York next to Rockefeller tower ! Love the Hokkien Mee ! Fast and prompt service ! Inside hawker center look

Yelp
Woahhh was all I could think as we walked into this modern, hip, Singaporean food hall in the heart of NYC. There were tons of southeast Asian flavors and cuisines in this melting pot of a spot. It's too bad not all of the stalls were open that day. The absolute hands down BEST thing I had at Urban Hawker was from TRADISYON, a Filipino vendor was the Rambutan Pineapple Salad. It was refreshing, tangy, savory, and soo unique. It was loaded with rambutan, pineapple, jicama, and cucumber. I was enamored with the contrast of flavors and was particularly intrigued by the crunch. It took me a while to figure out what it was and then I realized the salad was topped with corn nuts!! It was so genius and sooo good. I vowed to find a way to remake the dish someday at home. In the meantime, I will just have to make the trek to Urban Hawker to relive the experience.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite. I was a bit disappointed to find several stalls were closed. The ambiance was just so so though it appeared to be clean. We enjoyed the Prawnaholics place. Just wished there were more options.

Yelp
A Singaporean food hall in the heart of Midtown Manhattan is def a standout in the midst of the generic options in the area. The caveat however, is the price point. Understandable because of the area, but as someone who is from that part of the world, a but hard to swallow paying close to $20 USD for most of the entrees in this food hall. I've been here a number if times but mostly only frequent Lady Wong & Kopifellas. Haven't tried too many of the food vendors there until my most recent trip last month when my visiting cousin wanted to go. The vendors I tried and my reviews: Lady Wong - 5/5 must visit. I get the kuih which is like bites of nostalgia from my childhood. My favorite is the cassava, but all the other kuihs are good too. The angku was the only one that wasn't on par for me. Idk if they still make their sardine puffs, but it's delish! Kopifellas - 5/5 I always get either iced coffee or yuan yang. Just amazing. Pricey, yes. But not any pricier than Starbucks. Tried the kaya toast recently and wasn't a fan. Tasted nothing like the kaya toast I'm accustomed to. Prawnaholics - 4/5 Pretty good char kuow teoh. The pork lard bits are def a plus. Might be just a bit mush. Mr Fried Rice - 2.5/5 This was wildly disappointing. For a place that specializes in fried rice, I'm expecting your fried rice to be excellent. We got the stingray option. The fish was pretty good but the fried rice was abysmal. Completely bland and dry. Padi - 4/5 we got the lamb & chicken combo satay. Never had lamb satay before and it was absolutely phenomenal. Usually the chicken satay is always better but the lamb was def better. Absolutely loved it. Jakarta Munch - 4/5 I got a chicken noodle dish here and it was really good. Def give them a try! It's definitely a place worth visiting if you want something outside the box in this area.

Yelp
Oh, Prawnaholics. You live up to the hype. First off, Urban Hawker is such a cool market! I was actually very shocked to find a south/southeast Asian market smack in the middle of midtown! While there were many places I wanted to try, Prawnaholics has my beloved char kway teo, so I made a beeline for that place. The noodles were divine! I've never been to Malaysia, so I've only had this dish here in the states, but this was the first time there were pieces of lard in the noodles as is custom. Also the portion is HUGE!! I sat to eat for about 10-15 mins and during that time, two people passing by asked me where I had gotten my food-- it looked and smelled (and tasted!) that good.

Yelp
I love this spot in NYC! It's their version of a Singapore cafe. The inside is big with plenty of seating and a lot of different food stalls. I ordered the roasted hainan chicken, and I loved it!! It was the perfect portion and reasonably priced. My sister ordered the Singaporean laksa, and that was also super tasty. I would definitely come back again to try more food!
google avatar

Christophe G.

Yelp
Our meal was enhanced by the special atmosphere they've created. The food tastes great, the service works well, and prices stay fair. This was too much for just me. The team provided ideal service throughout. The restaurant maintains its reputation.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
We were there in a Saturday afternoon and got takeout for dinner. Singaporean chicken rice set from Hainan Jones and Beef Rendang from Padi D'Nyc. Both were scrumptious and service fast and friendly. Word of caution, this place is crazy busy weekday lunch hours. BTW bathroom key code 5820
google avatar

Bernice M.

Yelp
Such a great spot to satisfy different taste buds that love all types of Asian food! The food hall has plenty of seating and so many different stalls, between sushi, Indian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Chinese, Filipino, boba tea, dessert and beyond! The white beehoon from the White Restaurant was my absolute favorite but they told us that they were closing in a few weeks (this was in the beginning of September) The butter chicken was okay but the naan didn't seem as fresh. Pork adobo comes with a decent portion of pork. There's still so much more to try! All of the food was ready within a few minutes of ordering They also have a bathroom downstairs
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
This is a great spot to visit before seeing a show. Big food court with lots of Singaporean and Indian options that street vendor-style. Liked the bee hoon shrimp dish and the Singaporean fried rice. The options are so unique and varied for any craving.
google avatar

Prianka S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the toasted Hainan chicken. Although the flavors were mild it was still nice and seasoned well.
google avatar

Sydney G.

Yelp
This place gave me such nostalgia for Singapore and Malaysia! All the stalls were packed full of good flavor and I was so excited to get to try some foods I hadn't had since I was in Singapore. I got some kopi and Kaya toast as well as hainan chicken rice and my mom got some beef rendang. It was heavenly!
google avatar

Michel N.

Yelp
This place could become my weekly tradition. Pleasant space with helpful staff and clean aesthetics. The care they take shows in the dishes and staff attention. The staff was outstanding! I'm ready to return for more.

Yelp
Date: Saturday, May 4th, 2024 Time: around 6:45pm Party of: 4 Meal: Dinner *Wok & Staple *Hainan Jones *Mr Fried Rice *Prawnaholic *The Sling Bar Our strategy was to divide and conquer once we found a table. The hubby and I ended up getting the Black Pepper Crab from Wok & Staple and the Hainanese Chicken Rice from Hainan Jones, while the boys grabbed food from the other three spots. It was fairly busy when we got here, but not too hard to find a table. We actually ended up bumping into some friends here as well. Small world, huh? So we all sat together with our party of 6. I love variety, so this was a good find. Obviously pricier than a hawker center in Singapore, but not a bad spot to fulfill that craving. Glad I was finally able to check this place out! REVIEW #3401
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
The first time I toured just so happened to be their National Singapore Day event, so the place was packed! Picking a vendor was difficult, with all the aromatic options calling my name. I eventually settled on White Restaurant's Original White Beehoon. From photos alone, the dish may not look the most appetizing, bland and dry even. But the taste was phenomenal. The rice noodles unseeingly soaks up all the sweet flavors of the seafood, egg, and veggies. Unfortunately, the chicken tasted old. The whole food hall was such an urban fun vibe, I definitely have to go back to try from more stores.
google avatar

Jin Hao Y.

Yelp
A nested food court that is suppose to be for Singapore street food but from visiting it seems like mostly just asian food in general. It is mostly just self service as you find where you want to eat, grab your order, food and find a place to eat. No much to say about ambience except it is just a semi busy food court.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
This is a pretty good food hall! There are a lot of good choices of Asian cuisine for you to try. I got the Wok and Staple to try the Singapore Chili Crab! It was pretty good! I would recommend walking around and seeing what you want first before deciding since there is so much to see and try!
google avatar

Taylee M.

Yelp
This is a really fun singaporean food hall that's right next to Rockefeller Center. One of my coworkers is from Singapore and she vouches for it's authenticity, so that makes up for the slightly inflated pricing. I really long Lady Wong's pastries, especially any of the Pandan treats --I think they're done really well. I've tried the more savory options including Mr. Fried Rice, pretty decent, but I come here for the sweet treats.
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
Overpriced, yes Tasty, yes Variety, yes and no Food 4/5 Mr Fried Rice might be the safest and most popular option You cannot go wrong with fried rice especially the option with the shrimp or bbq pork Too many curry options Drinks 1/5 Kopifellas is $10 for boba milk tea, yes, $10 and the tea flavor ain't that strong All other food stalls sell some sort of canned soft drink for $3 and above No water station Desserts 5/5 This is where the winner is gonna be Lady Wong does not beat Lady M but it is a completely different concept We are talking glossy small cakes with unique Asian ingredients that are both rich and mousse-y
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
A large food court full of many different types of Singaporean and Indonesian foods and drinks. The service is quick with seating for a quick meal. Not quite a place to relax and lounge. Good for quick eat and go or to get take out of a variety of food. I went twice already to get different foods and they are all unique and good. Definitely a good place to go during lunch and dinner for a quick meal.
google avatar

Rhondi S.

Yelp
Great NY food scene reminiscent of the Hawker food stalls in Singapore! There are more than 15+ restaurant vendors here from cuisines of Singapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand and more -focused on Asian cuisine. Everything from Chinese bakery, Thai curry, Hainese chicken and tons of Asian noodles (Singapore noodles and the Malaysian curry were my favorite). Since these are Hawker restaurant stands, you order and pick up your food from the restaurant stand, find a communal table with friends and chow down, so good! Variety of authentic Asian foods from Thai to Malay is incredible- such flavors, spices and authenticity is incredible. We will be back!!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
The Yelp reviews helped set my expectations. It's a nice, modern food hall with a TON of options featuring southeast asian dishes with American prices. Staff is nice, it's kept clean inside, and a ton of seating which is nice.
google avatar

Kathy X.

Yelp
I've been to this Singaporean / Asian food hall a couple of times now. The interior is vast, with a very nice, organized layout. There was also seating throughout the space. The first time I came here, it was with a bunch of friends after church. It was a little overwhelming because there were so many tasty looking options. I finally decided on the Teriyaki Salmon with fried rice from Mr. Fried Rice. However, what I was actually served did not match the photo, which showed Chinese sausage fried rice. There definitely was not any sausage in the rice. The Salmon was decent, as it was tender and marinated in the sweet teriyaki sauce. The rice, however, was quite bland. I also got Pumpkin Spice kopi coffee from Kopifellas, which was enjoyable. There was a nice pumpkin flavor and the coffee was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. I tried some desserts from Lady Wong, including the exquisite looking Coffee Ferraro Rocher Cake and Ube Nian Gao. I really wasn't a fan of the Ferraro Rocher Cake and there was not even a hint of any coffee and barely any hazelnut taste. Thankfully I was able to get my money back for that. The Ube Nian Gao was delicious and satisfyingly sticky. The second time I visited, I brought a friend for dinner. I went with Prawnaholics dish consisting of shrimp, ribs with noodles. This was beautifully plated, and very good. The shrimp was succulent, juicy, while the ribs were perfectly cooked and full of bold flavor. The noodles were nicely al dente. From Kopifellas, I had the White Chocolate kopi coffee, which was a lovely blend of cocoa and coffee. This is a wonderful concept, and executed fairly well. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Prices are decent, especially for the area. Next time, I would like to get the Black Pepper Crab from Uglylicious and the Mango Sticky Rice Tart from Lady Wong.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Really cool concept for a food court Singaporean style. I really liked the decorations and all the food options and stalls. The bathrooms are clean and the tables and set up is very functional and orderly. It is near a rather touristy area so I was surprised by how empty it was during lunch on a saturday. More people should be checking it out. Each stall has its own food style and many options to choose from including a really cool bar.
google avatar

Juan K.

Yelp
I can't remember the last time a place made me this happy. Competent staff who offered ideal recommendations and entertained my family throughout dinner. This place serves evidently exceptional cuisine. Urban Hawker gets my recommendation every time. Good food and friendly atmosphere make this perfect for gatherings.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
What an interesting place! You get the Asian street food experience without being outside. There is a variety of Asian food choices that you can purchase. The seating is great because you can buy food from any of the vendors and seat anywhere! We got Thai fried rice, Pilipino lumpia, and vegetables from another place. Great experience and definitely recommend!!!
google avatar

Vanessa D.

Yelp
Really fantastic Singaporean food hall located near Times Square. Finally some flava and a refreshing step away from all the chains/tourist traps in that area. Ordered: - roasted hainanese chicken set from Hawker Jones -$19 5/5 - exceptionally truly spicy Vada pav from mystikk masaala - $13 4/5 - authentic chicken satay from padi nyc -$20 5/5 - tiger beer from the sling bar (full bar)

Yelp
Overhyped - Tourist Trap I am super disappointed with the food we got on our visit to this supposedly raved Hawker "food hall". Probably made famous with the late Anthony Bourdain backing & concept but not sure if the food truly 100% represents Singapore. (Guess I'll find this Summer!). The space is nice but definitely could have more seatings, a little awkward how close some tables were to each other; like an island and inconvenient to go from one stall to another without bumping into other patrons. We went early, plenty of seatings, they have service ppl cleaning so they kept it clean. Food: -Lady Wong - 4/5 (amazing Pandan dessert, wish the box held it more firmly... train ride damaged it just a bit) -Kopifellas - 3/5 (tried the Yuan Yang, coffee + tea mix, it was good, wish it was hotter, lukewarm is not my preference; $5 + tip). -White Restaurant - 3/5 (signature set... boon hee? Basically a vermicelli in sauce/broth w/ chicken and shrimp. This was very flavorful. The chicken was tough AF tho; $23 set). -Hainan Jones - 2/5 (OG Chicken Rice... biggest disappointment, I was really hyped to eat this. Bc that guy who did a food tour w Mark Weins said it would be amazing... and some ppl says it's better than my fav LYK on 14th st.... verdict; Absolute BS. Chicken was not room temperature - colder than expected, not smooth like silk, room was too soft, some dry blood remnants not what I would want to see... just utter disappointment; worse - it's $22! WTF?! Hard Pass). It's not made for NYKers... go elsewhere. #yelpinginthecity #nyceats

Yelp
I really like the idea of having a bunch of restaurants sharing a space so everyone can try different things, it's like a slightly more upscale food court. I walked around and looked at all of the menus and settled on a Singaporean seafood rice noodle dish, the food was great and portion size was pretty good. I think it's a nice spot for a casual lunch or if you're in a hurry because it's not a sit down / full service place. Overall a pretty cool spot!
google avatar

Ivan P.

Yelp
My dining experience was completely satisfying. Having just settled in the area, I was pleased to find this place. Staff members showed authentic warmth. The plates come full and the salad had bright flavors. I use this spot as my comparison.

Yelp
Little Chinatown in Manhattan! The reputation of this food mecca preceded itself. We already knew we had to try this place when we were organizing our itinerary to NYC. We were already planning to visit Chinatown, but this was like Chinatown in midtown Manhattan! It's nicely laid out with food vendors lining a main walkway with dining areas on both ends. The food vendors form a "fusion" of various cuisines but essentially they range from Indian, Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean influences. If I didn't live 974 miles away, I would eat here every other day and still wouldn't sample all the dishes in a month. This food hall houses the following vendors. My fingers lack the strength to type out their menus so go visit them or look up their menus. Daisy's Dream Prawnaholic Collections Wok & Staple Sushi by Mr Lim The Sling Bar Kopifellas Jakarta Munch Mamak's Corner Smokin' Joe Hainan Jones Lady Wong Mr Fried Rice Padi D'NYC Tradisyon White Restaurant After walking around for 5 minutes I finally had to decide and picked Prawnaholic Collections. I ordered the Singapore Char Kway Teow. It was heavenly! Cooked just like back home. Yom Yom Yom Yom. Noodles had beautiful color, just enough veggies, shrimp and fish cakes were perfectly charred, and it tasted delicious! It was pricey but you get a nice portion. Matthew go the Singapore Hokkien Mee and it was also spot on. Mixed with pieces of fried egg, it had large beautiful shrimp and squid. Yom Yom Yom. If you're remotely a fan of asian cuisine, you would enjoy this food hall. From the list above, you will absolutely find something you like. They label it as a "Singapore" food court, but it's not just Singaporean food although Singaporean food draws its influences from any different sources. Section off at least 30 minutes and try Urban Hawker. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Such a lovely spot to try multiple foods and drink with lots of seating. Great way to support small businesses.

Yelp
Setting foot into this place, would be akin to a child seeing Disneyland in person for the first time. I'm sure people would low key agree with some aspect of that sentence since the vendors here charge Disneyland prices for their food. It is in the middle of the city and it's a novelty spot so I won't factor it in my review. It's par for the course. This place has a bevy of options that you wouldn't know where to begin and I only had enough in me to try out one so I went to what brought my attention to this place (via Instagram), Hainan Jones. (I have a separate review of the place) After an amazing lunch I had from there, I'm eager to see what more of the other vendors have to offer. They even have a bar at the back of the hawker so after a few visits I'll check that out. The Urban Hawker has something for everyone, they have their own take on Starbucks as the first spot you see when coming in, then they have various eateries originating from almost all the hot spots in Asia whether you're looking for something from Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan, it's there. It might not be that same experience of going to an actual hawker in Singapore (mainly because there's many of them over there and the food is cheaper) but for what it's worth, I'd say this spot is pretty close.

Yelp
I cannot believe I did not know about Urban Hawker until recently. I've been visiting NYC for so many years and did not find out about Urban Hawker until recently. If you're looking for fast casual dining (food court style) with a variety of flavors (Indian, Singapore, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc) - then look no further!!! You will definitely get the Asian tastes at the American prices but still farely low prices compared to the restaurants around NYC! Plenty of seating options (tables everywhere) and bathrooms downstairs in the basement. If you're looking for drinks and desserts, you'll find boba spots and yummy cakes as well. I ventured through the entire place and ended up going to Hainan Jones for Oyster Sauce Veggies and Braised Tofu. DELICIOUS! I can't wait to come back with my family because they all have varying tastes (one likes Indian, another likes Thai, I love chinese and my husband loves them all). Very well maintained, friendly service and a lively place to stop by for yummy lunch or dinner!

Yelp
The kitchen here produces results that make you appreciate their craft. The liquid refreshments impressed and the solid fare satisfied. Personal connections with customers matter. The dishes I ordered were delicious. Check this establishment out yourself.

Yelp
Upon recommendation of a local, we came to Urban Hawker and was surprised to see mostly Asian, particularly Singaporean in one hub. We went about each stall and were surprised to see street food favourites - satay BBQ, poached chicken on rice, fish head curry and the rare fried oyster omelette! This place is reminiscent of Singapore's Hawker stalls and it hits the right spot. I came very tired and hungry and the different stalls offered the most comforting dishes. It's cooked so well too. It's surprisingly authentic! When traveling away from Vancouver, Canada, I never attempt to order Chinese or Asian as it almost always is disappointing. But boy am I impressed with this. I highly recommend URBAN HAWKER. It's also a perfect place to pick a dish from different stalls to have a taste of it all. Place is clean with lots of tables in the middle section.

Yelp
Worth dropping by to try a bit of SE Asia. Ok is it the exact experience, price and flavors? Not exactly, but a decent attempt to bring together an array of Singaporean, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Filipino, new Asian food vendors in a communal setting. It's like a Whitman's sampler of NYC SE Asian food - comparable or slight pricier than your average NYC food court or take out spot, decent quality and even some pretty tasty morsels in there, and most likely at least one thing someone in the group will enjoy. Not counting the times I've dropped by to pick up Lady Wong pastries, I've probably eaten here or gotten take out 7-8 times. And as the only SE Asian food court of its kind in NYC, (and really outside of Thai and Vietnamese there's not a whole lot of representation of other SE Asian ethnic foods--though that's gradually growing), it offers enough specialized dishes in a single location to warrant dropping by. Also good to take people from outta town, or meet up with friends to share a few different items. My recommendations include: 1) at Prawnaholic Collections: roasted sesame sauce pork rib noodles--pricy but tasty! and the traditional prawn and pork ribs noodles use a shrimp-centric broth. 2) at Jakarta Munch: beef beef meatball soup noodles for a lighter meal, minced beef bowl was decent though maybe not first pick. 3) White restaurant: since beehoon is rice noodles in little bit of broth, generally they are on the lighter side. Pork katsu, fish and seafood options are decent. 4) Tradisyon: pork adobo bowl, yum! 5) Mamak's corner: this one is tough bc from my experience they have a tendency to sell out of certain dishes, go earlier to sample more of the menu. The serving sizes tend to be smaller here tho prices aren't bad. 6) sling bar: havent tried their regular menu drinks tho happy hour drinks served in plastic cups. 7) Wok&Staple: their crab dishes look phenomenal tho I've never personally tried. 8) Lady Wong: my fave! I love their kueh varieties, and sweet and savory baked pastries! They have super authentic and creative flavors! Their specialty desserts are also amazing and not too sweet. As for prices, yes they are not SE Asian prices, though comparatively the rent, labor, ingredient and inflation costs here aren't SE Asian costs either.

Yelp
The BEST Hainan chicken I had in my life! The chicken is really juicy, I don't need any sauce for it. The vegetable is a big surprise. I thought it will be like other restaurants, just boil the vegetables, but no, no, it's mad tasty! I don't know what they put on the top of the free vegetable, but I love it. The food court has more than 10 restaurants and super clean. It's a really good place to hang out with coworkers for a quick lunch or dinner

Yelp
A lot of South East Asian food stalls to choose from with their respective famous dishes . Service is fast and go. Very busy place and foods are good plus you can see them cooking what you've ordered. Clean and orderly place. Urban Hawker is a gem on 50th Street.

Yelp
Glad that they now allow you to order a mixed of both poached and roasted chickens for the hainanese chicken rice
