The 38 Best Restaurants in Paris, According to a French Food Expert

"Open for: Breakfast, lunch, and dinnerPrice range: $$It can be a challenge to find good French food in the heart of Paris, which is why this luncheonette from the ’50s is such an enduring hit with office workers, staff from the surrounding luxury boutiques, and tourists. Though the decor, with its bright chairs and cracked tile floor, has its appeal, the restaurant, just steps from the elegant Place Vendôme, brings in customers for its sepia-toned Gallic comfort food like escargots, onion soup, duck preserved in its own fat with sauteed potatoes, and chocolate mousse or tarte Tatin for dessert. The prices are modest for a heart-of-the-city meal, the crowd is intriguing, and this is an only-in-Paris experience par excellence. Come early to avoid the crowds. Located in the 2nd arrondissement.Must-try dish: A real French sandwich with ham, Fourme d’Ambert blue cheese from Auvergne, and baguette." - Alexander Lobrano

The Best Restaurants in Paris | Bon Appétit

"I’ve loved David Lebovitz’s namesake blog and myriad books for years, especially his seemingly endless stories about living in Paris. So when I stumbled upon an old post about “The Best Sandwich in Paris” mid-trip in 2022, I dropped everything and headed to Le Petit Vendôme. Greeted with a rowdy lunch crowd, I was lucky enough to score a seat at the bar. I was immediately entranced by a staffer slinging jamón beurre sandwiches—moving at such an efficient clip that I could barely tear away to chat with my spouse. Crackly fresh baguette, soft rich butter, a ham to end all hams, and a few cornichons. Ouah! I returned later in the week to snag another sandwich for the plane. It was a perfect last meal." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff & Contributors

Le Petit Vendôme offers bistro-level food but without the bistro-level price tags. I loved the atmosphere, but the food was nothing special. The béarnaise sauce has the wrong texture and came in a tiny portion. The highlight was the pistachio crème brûlée, which was an excellent surprise. But with a final bill of over €60 per person for a entrée-plat-dessert in a Bistro, it's just too much even for Paris.

Great option in Paris! We arrived as Walk Ins at 8pm and got lucky that after a couple minutes of wait they managed to put us on a table, as it seems that most people reserve there. From the vibes of the restaurant alone we already predicted that it would be a great meal and we were not wrong. Dishes came quite quickly and everything we had was delicious. Fair prices!

We pulled one of my least favorite moves visiting a restaurant, showing up 10 minutes before the kitchen was closing. We had no idea however, and the staff was beyond accommodating. We ordered on the fly and they were kind enough to make us 2 jambon-beurre for takeaway on our way out. Steak frites was our favorite we had on our trip, and way better that a few of the flagship restaurants around the city. Great staff, great atmosphere, amazing sandwiches 🤤

Google
Le Petit Vendôme is a unique spot tucked away in a perfect location. We had the ham sandwich, which was simple but incredibly good — fresh, high-quality ingredients that really stood out. It was a satisfying meal, and we’d highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Google
Perfect French bistrot with typical French food. An andouillette as appetizer with a good glass of red wine, then a delicious pavé de bœuf with an Armagnac sauce and homemade French fries (and a side blue sauce because I’m a fan). Perfect chocolate mousse with a glass of Poire alcohol to finish :) Very nice and attentive service. Book in advance if you want to be in the terrace. Thanks for that lovely moment !! I knew that place for their excellent sandwiches, now I’m a double fan !!

Google
We ordered the classic and the bosss favourite. Both were great. The quality of the ham butter and bread was exceptional but I think to the average person may not be as amazing. Something a foodie would appreciate. The line is what marked this review down a little as it moves very slow because only 1-2 people are making the sandwich’s.

Google
My favourite bistro in Paris n visit every time I'm in Paris. Best duck confit and a must which is only for take away is the baguette with jambon n cheese. Interior is very traditional with the small tables in a row, red n white check table cloth, mirror behind the tables and hand written menu on blackboard. Best to be there before 12 or after 130

Google
There’s a lot of hype — and for once, it’s well deserved. We arrived early, avoided the crowds, and had an incredible sandwich and coffee made by the sandwich artist herself. No fuss, just great food and service. Thank you — it was delicious. Pro tip, add pickles and pickled onions to the classic sandwich 😋

Yelp
Yum! We had reservations for dinner but decided to try our luck for lunch. Man who welcomes and takes order is lovely and hums American songs. There is not a lot of space so be prepared to be very close to your neighbor. If you can't get a seat, many ordered sandwiches at the window just as you walk in. The duck and steak was delicious! We probably could have shared one onion soup, but got our own. Portions are generous. Mostly locals dining in.

Yelp
One of the things I wanted to eat in Paris was Jambon. After some research and finding the best restaurant that fit into our itinerary, I decided we should go to Le Petit Vendome. Originally we were going to get them to go and eat them at Jardin du Luxembourg but we ended up dining in. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and were given the option to dine in or take out. We told her dine in and we had our choice of where to sit. It's a cozy restaurant that has indoor, outdoor and bar countertop seating. It was a little hard choosing the cheese so I asked her what she recommended and she suggested Cantal "entre deux". I ended up ordering Jambon with Cured Ham and Cantal. Mink didn't know what to order so she ordered the same thing. We both ordered a black coffee as well. They didn't take long to get our coffee out and moments later we received our sandwiches. They were amazing! You can taste the quality of their ingredients and the baguette was amazing. Customer service was exceptional and we're so glad we dined in. We highly recommend going to Le Petit Vendome.

Yelp
When in Rome do as the ... I should say Paris. This place was around the corner from where I was staying. Definitely seemed like the locals hang out here. On our final night we grabbed a bite. First off it is cramped inside so we sat outside, slightly less cramped. For starters we got the French onion soup which was amazing probably best I ever had. Not salty like the states. We also got the prosciutto (jambon de pays) since my wife's been on a prosciutto kick. It was good. We both ordered the rib steak with fries. (Steak frites). It was very flavorful but a bit more fatty than we both like. I highly recommend the black peppercorn sauce. I should have ordered the Pave cut which was their rump steak to balance it out. Overall a nice French meal.

Yelp
A spot that was featured on Delicious Destinations for their Ham and Cheese Baguette. About 10 minutes ride from Musée D'Orsay so we got here for lunch around 1:45. Surprisingly they were busy but we lucked out as a table for 2 finished and we were seated right away. Small, loud and cozy with a petite Bar area and outdoor seating. We started with Pelforth-Local Lager. Light and crisp. They also had a US IPA (Lagunitas) and Belgian Ale on Draft. For starter, we shared their house made Foie Gras. Mild flavor and delicious! For Main, it was the Duck Confit-tender and cooked perfectly with home made potatoes taking it over the top. Escalope Normande was also excellent-medium rare Veal and creamy mushroom sauce that was so good we asked for more on the side. Many of the entrees looked enticing. From Andouille Sausage to Steak, Pig Triotter, Lamb Chitterlings and even a Burger which we saw on a few tables. Also, Charcuterie is available. The Ham sandwich can be eaten only at the Bar or ordered for takeaway. Ingredients-House roasted Ham, Cantal cheese and Butter. So simple and delicious! Our Server was upbeat and engaged with hustle. She navigated a busy Lunch crowd with ease. Local flavor for sure and not to be missed!

Yelp
We were denied service because our family is not Parisian. Unbelievably rude. Claimed they could not seat us without a reservation - that is after overlooking my family for locals that walked in after us and seated them immediately (confirming they did not have a reservation). Then the server continued to ignore us until we left (and also confirming we understand French). What a disappointment. We've been coming here since 2017 every time we visited Paris. Such a shame because their food is lovely. We would not recommend for tourists/Americans. There are many places in the area that do not discriminate.

Yelp
3.5 Stars I liked this place, overall - a small spot with a nice menu of options in the Place Vendome area. This place has a good menu of traditional French specialties and there seems to be something for everyone. I had the cheeseburger and I thought it was fine. A nice portion of beef cooked medium and topped with cheese, this tasted decent and will satisfy most tastes. If you're a burger connoisseur, this may not be up to high standards, but it would satisfy the craving if you have one. For dessert, I had their Pistachio Creme Brulee and this was good...the pistachio flavor was lacking a bit for me, but it was nice to end the meal on a sweet note. The service was attentive and friendly and not like the stereotype of Parisian service. I arrived right when they opened and was seated immediately. Within about 30 minutes, the place was filled. Make a reservation if you can or plan accordingly for a popular restaurant.

Yelp
A 14 minute walk from the Louvre this place has a lot of meats, pates, cheeses and other french food. We opted for the day's special which was fish and chips, and shared some bread, cheese and butter as well. The bread, cheese and butter was maybe one of my favorite things I ate in Paris. The fish and chips however was a bit of a letdown in comparison. The fish was crispy and all, but there was really no seasoning in it or the batter it was coated in.
google avatar

Tiana D.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around 1pm before a trip to the Louvre. Was pleasantly surprised not to see a line out the door for sandwiches. We opted for take out sandwiches as opposed to their sit down menu. Inside seemed small and crowded. We both ordered the special of the day which was goat cheese and prosciutto on a baguette for 8 euro - 100% what we needed and 100% would eat again.

Yelp
Service- unusual behavior. My husband is 1/2 Asian. I'm French/canadian. They refused to let us sit outside. We had to sit in a small area where they were only seating other Asians. Every single table was Asian in our small area. It felt like racial profiling & they were not kind to us. Food was Just ok.

Yelp
Easily the best jambon-beurre sandwiches that my lovely bride and I had in Paris on our holiday trip. We didn't have any luck getting a table, but we were able to order two to go. French ham, butter, and Cantal cheese on a baguette, omg. Prompt and pleasant service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This local Parisian joint gets packed! And just like a typical Parisian restaurant, know that it'll be a tight squeeze and you'll be shoulder to shoulder with the strangers at the next table. Our usual spot (Le Petit Pontoise) was closed on Tuesdays during our 20 hour layover. A chance to try another spot we found on YouTube courtesy of Les Frenchies! My bf had to get his foie gras fix, since it's banned in California. He said it was quite tasty. Kinda went downhill from there: the onion soup was super salty. The duck confit was dry and salty. The accompanying potatoes looked and smelled promising, but sadly we mushy. I left most of the dish untouched, and we try really hard not to waste food. The beef cheek stew was very tender, but it was also salty. The potatoes that came with it helped to even it out a bit. Reservations recommended! You can make them on their website. I made our reservation for 7pm on a weekday and by the time we were served our starters, the place was packed: both inside and out. Glad we got to try a new local place, but probably won't be back.

Yelp
After a hurried trip to Galleries Lafayette, we were in the mood for a hearty meal. This place is pretty much what you'd imagine a quintessential French bistrot to be...early 20th Century decor, tables that were too close to each other, and about six different languages being spoken at any given time. When we first arrived there was only indoor seating, which was terrible because like most French restaurants, there's no AC. Fortunately the beer was cold and we were able to get outdoor seating once there was an opening. Unlike most Parisian restaurants, the food came out quick, about half a beers time. The rare tenderloin paired excellently with the peppercorn sauce; as a matter of fact, even the frites paired great with the sauce. Even though my French was terrible, the staff were very friendly and even provided me with an English language menu. I'd definitely give this place some repeat business the next time that I'm in town.

Yelp
Le Petit Vendome was our first lunch in Paris, and looking back was likely the most authentic, local place we ate at in Paris. We came on a Thursday for lunch in October, and the restaurant was full. The waitresses were welcoming and beckoned us inward to the back of the restaurant, where we were seated at a cozy table. Be aware that there are usually 2 lines! The one on the right, which is usually much longer, is for sandwiches (usually to go), and there is a separate line (usually shorter) to dine in. Between 2 people, we shared a salad with prosciutto, an order of 6 escargot, and a beef stew. Everything was tasty and well-made, although the escargot was on the salty side. We saw a few tables order the duck confit, which looked just as tasty. If you're covid-conscious in 2022, this place will definitely test the limits of your comfort. Tables are packed so close together you can easily reach over to the table next to you and grab their salt and pepper shakers, if you so chose. Despite how busy it was, we got our food quickly and the staff was great. It was clear that many locals eat here, so we were grateful to have found this spot!

Yelp
This tiny, non pretentious, friendly neighborhood restaurant was just amazing! I made a lunch reservation for 2 online and asked for a window seat. Little did I know that we'd be seated by the door. The rest of the tables would leave you shoulder to shoulder with the other guests so I was just grateful my request was accommodated! The door table had its perks- no neighbors and I had the best view people watching during our meal. We stared across the counter which serves their famous sandwiches which many Parisiens lined up for. When you go, check out their daily special! We picked a Thursday for their beef bourguignon and it did not disappoint. Hubby is a huge onion soup fan so he's had 4 or 5 on this trip. This restaurant served his favorite. He thought their steak was good but was wowed by their peppercorn dipping sauce. Price is also resonable. We had all these food for under 50 euros. This is a spot you shouldn't miss but make sure to reserve ahead!

Suzanne M.

Yelp
Our favorite stop in Paris. Best wine, cheese plates, meats, service and vibe is tops. You can't go wrong. Everything on the menu is outstanding. Sit at the counter and drink good wine and enjoy being part of a real Paris scene. Great people watching too. It's always packed for a reason. Make a reservation or come midday or late because you won't get in at peak times but it's worth it.

Yelp
Very friendly service, by American standards. Authentic French food, sommelier in house. Was a good way to end a great France trip.

Yelp
Lively crowd. Wonderful service. Staff was super friendly and funny. On a side street from the main center. Great little place to visit when staying in Vendôme or Opéra.

Yelp
I'd say book this place but the place books up far in advance so plan accordingly. This place is an institution. The staff is amazing and the food is out of this world. The kids had a blast with the server's humor and the place was full of tourists and locals alike. Our reservation was for 6:30 pm but they let us in earlier. The location is handy near all the major retailers so we got in a lot of the local area before working up an appetite. The place is cozy so we were sitting right next to an English-speaking couple, which added to the experience. Kids tried escargot, lamb, and duck confit for the first time and gave it a thumbs up. The steak was good and the crème brulet was different with the pistachio center. My daughter loved the strawberry mousse. Even though there were plenty of folks crowding the bar waiting for our table, the staff didn't rush us one bit which made it extra nice. When you tip so they ring a tip bell for all to hear. Note that they charge a cover per person.

Lee H.

Yelp
We went here on the recommendation of a local for Crème brûlée and ended up also ordering a cheese plate. We told the waiter to bring whatever he wanted and it was literally the best cheese I've ever had. The pistachio crème brulee was also very delicious. We went back two days later and had the same cheeses plus added the goat cheese. Again phenomenal! We had to have a reservation at lunch time on a Monday so you might not be able to just walk in. It's definitely worth a visit! And if I'm ever in Paris again, I will go here. The waitress the second time told us they get their cheeses from the Auvergne province so now I need to visit there on my next visit to France.

Yelp
Such a gem this small, unpretentious neighborhood bistro was and seemingly well favored with the Parisians as well. Workers were pleasant and quite helpful getting all diners situated in their quaint dining area. Ordering from their menu was made easy for us foreigners. We had the French Onion Soup (scrumptious), Steak Tartare (rich with favorable texture), and the Duck Confit (a little dry). The French Onion Soup was an automatic favorite with its rich beef broth, carmelized onions and soft, fluffy bread soaked and layered with cheese. I understand that duck is difficult for even the French to perfect as was evident by the seemingly dry duck confit. Paired with a glass of a cheap Bordeaux promised us a relaxing evening which was met with such relaxed service.

Yelp
Food was very good. Wine selection good. Service was excellent. Got to sit on the first floor front area.

Yelp
I loveeeeee this restaurant!!!! The guy who took our orders is super nice! food is sooooo yummy !!! I just wished I came back for the sandwiches , the ladies said they had the best sandwiches here. I feel so welcome ! If I go back to Paris I will be coming back !!! It's very relaxed and casual.

Yelp
Great sandwich and a perfect size for lunch. I was saving it as I walked to try and find a park to sit down and ....,,slowly I kept taking a bite ..., then another few blocks.. another bite. Too good to wait for.

John S.

Yelp
Amazing local food at a great price and an amazing vibe. Greg is the best bar tender in all of France!!
google avatar

Erika Y.

Yelp
TL;DR: great food, great price. This place is a gem, perfect for a casual meal. It was just around the corner from our hotel so was super convenient and had great food. We ate here once soon after we arrived in Paris for lunch and found ourselves going back again and again for lunch and late night snack (they're open until 2am). No reservations needed. The menu is classic french dishes and some of the best sandwiches in Paris. The ham sandwich and the french onion soup really hit the spot.

calypso b.

Yelp
I love this place!!! The bread was so good and I loved the foie gras! The people who waited on us were so nice and it's clear they like their job. However, it can get really busy and crowded.
google avatar

Odaly V.

Yelp
My meal was scrumptious! I loved that the place was full of locals! I speak very little French, but had no issue communicating!

Rocio M.

Yelp
Nice cafe with good food. My son ordered a cheeseburger that didn't disappoint and I ordered the special which was prawns on pasta that was AMAZING! Hubby had the sausage plate, wasn't what he expected but I'd was very good. This was our first cafe after a 11 hour flight and we were so happy we stopped by after reading the yelp reviews. Good food good service and good price.

Richard S.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been going there for 10+ years. A Parisian Cheers. Highly recommend it. Lionel is fantastic. I count him as a friend.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
We wanted to get takeout sandwiches and sit in the Tuileries gardens to relax after walking all morning and this place was perfect. You can order to go at the counter and get an incredible sandwich. You can select your own meat, cheese and toppings or select from their specials. Very reasonable prices at around 8 euros!
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
There are three types of people who come here: Parisians who just want an honest meal in an unpretentious place, Parisians who want to take advantage of the take-out counter here to bring a great sandwich or burger back home with them, and hungry tourists who charm the concierge at they're hotel until he or she divulges the location of this excellent and secret place to eat. This place is good. This place is cheap. This place is Real-Paris - on a shoestring. Le Petit Vendôme offers the cuisines of Burgundy and Auvergne, which means snails, pate, raw meat, pomme frits, stews, veal, and most definitely Charcutarie (aka. lots of cured meats and cheeses). Now that you know about it, don't miss this place.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Fantastic little brasserie just a few blocks north of the Jardin de Tuileries! I could not have asked for a much better lunch spot to enjoy my first meal in Paris after almost 20 years. I will say this place is not suitable for those who will only be satisfied by an incredibly fancy dining experience, nor is it appropriate for any tourist who is merely seeking sustenance or lacks appreciation for food. It's not for them! Le Petit Vendôme is a relaxed and casual restaurant serving up some very good and very traditional French dishes with specials hailing from Auvergne and Burgundy (Central France). The food is honest and the atmosphere is homey. Le Petit Vendôme is definitely one of those places where you take the time to enjoy your meal, savor the moment, and wish the experience would last just a bit longer. ___F O O D___ The menu consists of classic French dishes. You'll find confit de foie, wild escargot from Burgundy, andouillette, and pot au feu (beef stew). Additionally, they allegedly make one of the best sandwiches in Paris. Just ask for the jambon beurre (ham and french butter on a baguette) and they'll hook you up! I was only somewhat hungry so I ordered a soup, a starter, and a dessert. -Onion Soup: Really comforting and tasty soup topped with glorious cheese! Been a while since I've had French onion soup in France so I actually made an effort to pay attention and tweak my own recipe later. This one was lighter in color (y'all use chicken stock or something?) than most onion soups I've had in recent memory, but managed to taste even more delicious! I loved the savoriness and the subtle background flavors from the herbs. And the broth wasn't excessively sweet or salty either! 9/10 -Jambon de Bourgogne Persille: Burgundy ham with parsley. They take the ham and gently poach it for hours in stock with white wine, garlic, and other delicious things before assembling it into a terrine. It's old-fashioned but ohhh so good. Pair with some French butter + bread and you're golden! 9.5/10 -Pistachio Crème Brûlée: I thought a dessert was a must in Paris, even though I do not normally order such things (I'm more of a savory guy). Anyway, this was great! The caramelized sugar shell satisfyingly shattered under my spoon and revealed a light and silky smooth pistachio custard. It wasn't grainy at all! The top appeared to be torched a bit much, however, the burnished flavor really worked well. I just wish the pistachio was more prominent, but I suppose subtle flavors are more appealing here? Still good. 8.5/10 ___S E R V I C E & A M B I A N C E___ The people are as sincere as their food. So nice! Folks checked up on me often and my order arrived in a timely manner. As for the ambiance, Le Petite Vendôme feels like one of those places that has not changed much over time. It's old-school and homey. The use of vintage signage as decor, red & white gingham tablecloths, and handwritten menu boards further drive this point home. I'd also like to add that space is a bit tight. The restaurant is popular and they have some rather cozy seating arrangements so you will be in close proximity to other diners. ___F I N A L T H O U G H T S___ I had such a wonderful experience dining at Le Petite Vendôme and every dish was such a joy. I'm only deducting one star because it's not a mind-blowing restaurant. I just went back to my only 5-star Paris review for a restaurant and that establishment was on a whole 'nother level. Le Petite Vendôme is great, but probably not "as good as it gets."

Yelp
Tiny little bistro just off the Place de Vendome where we were staying at the Park Hyatt. When we got into Paris from London, it was nearly 2pm so fortunately, they squeezed us into a table (yes, squeezed because that's how close together the tables were). DS really wanted to try French Onion Soup in Paris and this place did not disappoint. Escargot was good but ultimately not the best on this trip, as was the steak au poivre. I wished that the au poivre sauce was spicier but it was still very good. Can't wait to go back in December!
google avatar

Jim A.

Yelp
Excellent food and service but in very, very cramped environment. We had dinner here but I would recommend lunch at the bar instead. Great place and I would go back, for lunch.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
We made the rookie mistake of expecting to grab dinner before our 7:30pm opera. Should have read the reviews warning that the kitchen didn't open until 6:30pm. But they graciously were offering cheese and meat plates, which were more than adequate to fuel us through La Traviata. Charcuterie: Tons of different hams, dry sausages and pâté. Everything was great, though the prosciutto-looking one was my favorite. Cheese: Only three kinds of cheeses compared to the cornucopia of meats, but quite a sufficient portion. I was partial to the bleu, which helped cut the richness that the charcuterie left on the palette.

Yelp
I had gotten recs to come here for a sandwich, and the sandwich line was indeed long during lunchtime. We were meeting someone, so we decided to sit down to lunch. They have a few outdoor tables, which are nice because it's quite crowded inside. The menu is classic bistro food, but you can get their famous sandwiches for dining there at €2 extra. We decided to get food and get a sandwich to go, which was a great idea. - Baguette: great house baguette - good flavor, nice crusty outside - Asparagus with poached egg, bacon, greens: a nice light option with a perfectly poached egg - Andouillete: my French cousin insisted on this - it's better with mustard but still just not my thing (innards etc - NOT andouille as I naively mistook it for years ago). The fries fries came with it were great - Daily special: sausage with pomme aligot - sausage was standard, but potatoes were good - Chocolate eclair: very chocolatey, good for sharing after your meal We ended up getting a ham and cantal sandwich to go, which I devoured while walking around. The sandwich was so great - cantal was generously portioned and super flavorful, the ham was fatty, it had good butter, and the baguette was just the right texture. Service was very friendly. They're open all day. Reservations are accepted for seating, but I highly recommend going for the sandwiches. If it were just the sandwich experience, I would say 5 stars!

Yelp
Our first dinner in Paris. Great little place with amazing French Onion Soup! The owner was very nice but the server seemed not to like that Americans had come in. Had a terrible table. Oh well. The food was good!

Yelp
Sat at the counter/bar as I was eating alone. Great service, excellent food and good prices. Had the onion soup and fall sausage special.

Yelp
The most delicious ham sandwich on baguette I have had! Also, the ham and charcuterie board was amazing. The food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I have 10 days in Paris and I will definitely be back again before I leave.

Yelp
I was at Roland Garros for the whole day...it rained occasionally and was rather chilly. When I came back to my hotel, it was late and I was hungry! The helpful concierge told me about this venue... I've been staying at Park Hyatt every year for the past few years (and it stands just round the corner!), but I did not know about this place until this time. Anyhow, I walked in around 11pm and the owner welcomed. Ordered French onion soup and asparagus salad - both were great and just hit the spot! The owner told me a story behind French onion soup which I did not know... Great food, warm service (everyone was friendly), open late (till 2am), very reasonable prices...I would definitely come back for my late night eats! I was told it's extremely popular sandwich place and people would line up during lunch hours

Yelp
Wow!! This is a Paris gem of a restaurant. Do no let the crowds fool you.. there are tables in the back. We came at a busy time. But were brought to a nice nook in the back. I think it is reserved for non- french speaking clientele. Our servers were amazing. The food was absolutely delicious for our first evening in Paris~ Beef fillet with bone marrow cooked to perfection. Duck confit so delicious paired with wine. To top off the night~ Pistachio Creme Brûlée. C'est delicieux!!

Yelp
There was small menu but I was happy the onion soup was good and buttered baguette. I Like the experience from the bar.

Yelp
This is another spot that we keep returning to in Paris. The charcuterie is delicious, and wines are always affordable and on point. Our server was super friendly and accommodating even though the place was super packed for lunch at 2:30om. Get the Rillettes and Pate, you will not get any better anywhere else. Don't judge our spread, we got a little carried away for 2 girls :).

Yelp
Charming best describes Le Petit Vendome. The folks that work here are warm and welcoming. They greeted us immediately and we were seated right away. Unfortunately because we're Asian, they thought it best to seat us right near a very loud and talkative Japanese couple. So, the entire night we mostly heard Japanese, not French. Mon dieu! The menu reads very rustic French bistro. As it was our first dinner in Paris, we wanted an authentic French meal. My husband ordered the veal and I chose the onion soup and terrine. Veal (3/5) comes with a cream sauce, salad, and potatoes cooked with mushrooms. The veal was tender but bland. The potatoes and mushrooms were better seasoned and tasty. Onion soup (3/5) as my husband put it, "tastes like Tam O'Shanter." While that isn't bad per se, I guess I was expecting something more authentic or magical. It was hot, seasoned well, came with lots of cheese. A solid soup choice. Terrine (4/5) when I attended culinary achool, terrines were a pain to make. I disliked making them and eating them. Even when I worked in a five star French restaurant I disliked terrines. But when in Paris, I felt a calling. It was pretty good! Tasted great with rustic bread and was satisfying. Even better with cornichons! Overall a good experience. We made it through dinner satisfied with our meal. We may return to take-out a ham and butter sandwich.

Yelp
The service was so friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious, the ambiance was that of a traditional brassseria. I highly recommend you try Le Petit Vendome!

Yelp
Perfect lunch spot. Very small, very busy, and everything was very good. Baguettes were fresh and delicious. French onion soup was the best I had in Paris. Cheese board with 3 cheeses was great and HUGE so be prepared to share. I loved the blue cheese. My sister had the duck and said it was one of her favorite meals in Paris. Very reasonably priced wine and food! Employees were very nice and helpful!

Yelp
All the locals ate it here so we tried it. It was fabulous. We just did charcuterie and a bottle of wine. Very quaint place. Highly recommend it

Yelp
What a great local spot! It was a delight coming at lunch time amongst all the working folks (I assume). Space is tight, so be ready to get a bit cozy with the locals. The servers were accommodating to us non-French speaking folks. It felt like a busy diner at the peak of lunch time, so it may be a bit hard to flag down a server after you order. What we got: -Beef tartare: It was my first time trying this. Good, flavorful, although eating raw beef is still a foreign concept. The entire time, I was afraid of getting food poisoning, but thankfully we turned out A-OK. Fries were great. -French onion soup: Yummy, altho def. salty and cheesy beyond my preference. I guess that's what this soup is all about. No complaints here. -Salad: All I wanted was a plain, green, fresh salad, but that's seemingly impossible to find in Paris and not available on the menu. Instead, my salad had generous cheese slices, potatoes and pieces of prosciutto, heavily drizzled with balsamic. A bit too hearty and heavy for my taste. It's worth coming if you're in the area, but no need to go out of the way to make a visit.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Paris. Such a fun yet intimate vibe. All the regular patrons huddle around the bar and dance around on weekends as the wine continuously flows. The owner and waitresses understand and speak enough English to converse with you. During lunch they have sandwiches and charcuterie, while at dinner they serve classical French dishes. This trip I enjoyed an excellent duck confit with crispy pan potatoes. I also indulged in their pistachio crepe brulee, which is delicious. I will continue to come back for the excellent service and food.
