All the MICHELIN Stars and Bib Gourmands in Tennessee

"Situated in St. Elmo with a view of Lookout Mountain, I discovered a Tex‑Mex spot from Erik and Amanda Niel focused on smoked meats, house-made corn tortillas and tempting cocktails, ideal for sharing. Familiar favorites like fajitas and queso appear alongside standout items: a stuffed avocado available vegetarian or with brisket or smoky carnitas, and a tostada layered with braised oxtail finished with a fried egg and cactus chow chow. The dinner menu expands into more smoked meats, and I recommend finishing with their house-made ice cream — the goat cheese and vanilla with masa crumbles is especially good." - The MICHELIN Guide

WOW!! This was my first ever meal in Chattanooga and what a TREAT. It is truly flavor town. The ambience and staff here are wonderful. We had great service every step of the way. The small batch tortillas were sooo good. But the star of the show was the sweet potatoes!!!! Omg and the grilled queso….eating that was a spiritual experience. For the meats, we had the brisket, carnitas, and ribs and each one was phenomenal - you can’t go wrong!!! I highly recommend Little Coyote and will dream of coming back here!!!

Google
AMAZING. My husband and I were finally able to make it to this restaurant, and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The location is great, the space is inviting, the bar is top-tier, and the food was delicious. I had a spicy margarita and my husband tried a few different tequilas. We shared the queso, brisket and carnitas, which were all served with their out of this world tortillas. The whole experience from start to finish was great. We will definitely be back and haven't stopped referring friends and family since our date night.

Google
Absolutely incredible culinary experience! We fell in love with the exterior architecture of their space prior to an impromptu exploratory day atop Lookout mountain. We HAD to see/taste the inside as we came back down. We were seated on the WELL heated exterior patio...which came with plenty of southwestern styled poncho blankets. The attention to detail on all interior design and decorating is impeccable. Our server, (Gwen?), was a very thorough guide throughout the menu offerings and attentive for our entire experience 😋 The question arose, "do you have room for ice cream?" "Nope! Happily stuffed!" She returned with a small 2-3 ounce ramekin filled with the most delightful frozen concoction I'd ever tasted! Well...more stuffed! #worthit We ordered 1/2 chicken to go for our 4th meal once we got home to Atlanta, but...it didn't last all the way home. 10 stars out of 5!

Google
We had a wonderful experience at Little Coyote and our server Kayla definitely helped to make it memorable by curating a meal for our group of 7. As we were a big group on a Friday night, we waited for about an hour and a half however, we managed to snag a barrel to have drinks at and the spicy Margherita hit the spot! For food, I have to recommend the pork ribs - it was smoky + dry rub style and I really wish that we ordered some more! However we wanted to try a variety so if I ever get to visit again I would love to eat just a plate of them. The service was exceptional and would go again if I could!

Nick R.

Google
Top-tier experience! Huge shoutout to Ryan the bartender—his house margaritas are perfectly balanced (not too sugary!), and his custom whiskey drinks are elite. We ordered the smoked queso, fajitas, and brisket. The quality of the meat was outstanding—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. If you're looking for great drinks and even better BBQ/Tex-Mex, this is the spot.

Google
Amazing food before visiting rock city, or ruby falls! Michelin recommended and definitely worth checking out. Rae our server was extremely cool, informative, friendly, and really a pleasure to be served by. They have slow roasted the smashed and fried sweet potatoes which are INSANELY GOOD!!!! My wife is still talking about them. The smoked meats do sell out daily so come early however I was stuck deciding between two things I wanted to try and that made my decision easy! (And I wasn't disappointed) HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Will definitely be back when in Chattanooga.

Christina A.

Google
This place is amazing! Cocktails are amazing along with the food and service. The plates are family style so you can share whatever you order. We definitely we be coming back for more.

Google
Wow! What an amazing food experience. A flavor explosion. Great drink menu too. Started with a double barrel old fashioned. Like no old fashioned I ever had before. A must have. Since food is served family style, we had a great variety of flavors and textures: ribs to die for, brisket (probably my least favorite), red snapper peccadillo (yum yum), fried sweet potatoes (oh lordy lordy), collard green slaw (what!?!), and pork belly salad (you’ve gotta be kidding me!!). If you haven’t tried this place you’ve got to give it a go. You are welcome😀
google avatar

Loretta C.

Yelp
Kayla was our server and she was amazing!! Food was exceptional! We are foodies! We tried all of the small plates plus the brisket, ribs, and refried beans. The ribs were super and so tender. Brisket was amazingly tender and we smoke our own. The endive salad is a must try!! Oxtail soppas yum!! We can't wait to go back. I loved the outside seating area, we were wet from the heavy rains and the heaters were on plus blankets for the kids. Kind of like a California style restaurant. Sorry, I didn't get photos.

Yelp
This was an easy 5 stars for me. The menu is a bit difficult for my picky palette but I got by. Everything was extremely fresh and the drinks were interesting. They even have a couple of frozen drinks! We got the sausage of the day (kielbasa), queso con carnitas, yucca fries, and steak fajitas. Everything came with corn tortillas that were nice and fresh tasting. I was very impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The steak fajitas did have a salsa over them that I didn't like, but I knew I'd be having a tough time here. If you are not picky, this place is fantastic. If you are picky, hopefully you like the sausage of the day.

Yelp
I Ubered to St Elmo Ave. to try a different restaurant down and the road and they were closed for a private event so I caught my Uber driver before he pulled out and he was nice enough to drive me to the Little Coyote and I'm so glad he did! What a unique and diverse menu. They have tapas and entrees. Ryan was my bartender. When I first sat down he noticed I had a phone charging block so he informed me that an outlet with a USB port was directly in front of my seat under the bar along with a coat hook. For a drink I ordered a Paloma. I ordered 2 versions of the same meal; stuffed avocado with carnitas and a second serving with brisket. I also ordered what turned out to a LARGE bowl of mantequilla refried beans. Both tapas meals were served with bottomless small corn tortillas, red smoky sauce, queso and pickles. Outstanding! It was fun to mix and match the different sauces with with the meats and avocado. I ordered each of my tapas meals separately and when the brisket arrived they provided a new plate of at least a dozen small hot corn tortillas. Great meal that, based on the number of Yelp reviews, many in Chattanooga have yet to discover. Cats out of the bag now. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great place to eat upscale Mexican, we loved the atmosphere but it can get loud at times. They have a great bar with fun drinks and they make their own tortillas. Try the ribs or the brisket. The blueberry salad was awesome and the yucca fries amazing. Go on the web site for their electronic wait list.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a fun evening out with a couple of friends. Tapas anyone? This is all served family style and meant to share. The outside doesn't look impressive but the inside is warm and cozy. Our server Chris was spot on throughout the entire evening. So here is my issue 4 people 2 drinks each and a 300.00 bill. The food was good but not 300.00 good and portions honestly just not worth the price. However most would disagree as our friends this was their umpteenth time ( she can't have gluten) so this restaurant is a great option and the line outside waiting to get in was packed when we left. So outside of value I can't knock it.

David P.

Yelp
Although the place was busy we were seated very quickly and our waiter came right over. He explained the menu and gave some great recommendations. The best recommendation he gave was the vanilla goat cheese ice cream.
google avatar

Chandler P.

Yelp
So so expensive for the amount of food you get. They say it's family style, but you get the same amount of food for half the price at Amigo's next door. The flavor is also lacking in nearly everything. The beef rib was the only standout dish. The service is great and the staff is kind, though.
google avatar

Deb P.

Yelp
This was the favorite stop while in Chattanooga. Service was great, drinks perfect and food delicious!
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Best service ever! Our server brought me a menu all written on to outline what I could eat with my allergies. No one has ever done that before. I should have kept the menu as a souvenir. They set the bar in the best way. The food was excellent! We were a party of 8 who sat outside on the patio. Excellent lighting, music, service everything. Highly recommend this place to everyone. The brisket, ribs, yucca, so good!!! Ask for extra pickles.

Yelp
Newer business across from the Incline RR. Sat on patio with our 90lb lab. Server brought her a bowl of water. Great food and atmosphere.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The staff is so welcoming, and gives elevated neighborhood restaurant vibes. The food is delicious and so flavorful. The cocktails and menu is fun and different with a mix of classics and edgy new items to try. I loved the family style presentation. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Second time back here. Wasn't sure if it was going to be as good as we remembered. Somehow, it was better (didn't think that was possible). Truly one of the best meals I've ever had, definitely the best restaurant in TN. Service is always on point, the host remembered us and our server Chloe was AMAZING!! As a former bartender, I'm rarely blown away by service and she was just fantastic. can't wait to come back and be blown away again!

Yelp
Honey, Sugafoot!! Let me say this for the people in the back HONEY! SUGAFOOT!!!Get Here!!! Get Here! As quick as you can find your way to this beautiful spot. When you come in your greeted with this beautiful patio that is ready for all seasons and it's huge so you don't have to worry about seating, because babe they got enough for all of Chattanooga and it's comfortable with a view of the walking district that has beautiful shops. Anywho when you finally reach the doors after being stunned by the outside the inside says Hey girl and What up bruh in a very chic classy grown folks way. The art work is yes please, the chandler's are popping and the cleanness of it so refreshing. But babbbbyyyy when I tell you the food, the freaking food..ight!! So boom! They give complementary house made corn tortillas and honey, sugafoot don't judge me and I want judge you I placed some after we ate in a napkin to eat on my way home they were that good, don't believe me go here and see if you can't do it. We had the most amazing dinner of the year at this place the smoked oxtail chili to the smoked beets , yes you heard me right the smoked beets and the king ranch chicken..and then and then guess what!!! The chief said send this smoked brisket enchiladas to their table..Sugafoot why he do that, my tastebuds and eyes did a dance all on their own and before you knew it, I was up from my seat and told the waitress come here, I said you go back in that kitchen and slap that chief not one time but two with one of them being a back hand and tell him to cut this $&it out, cause this to dang on good.it didn't make any sense on how good this food was and how amazing and sweet hearted our waiter was the most sweetest soul on this side and the hostess was a doll as well. Guys please do yourself a favor before the year is out and go here, let be a gift from you for you. Enjoy

Yelp
The food here is delicious and the service is great. The standout is the craft cocktails. Fantastic margaritas.

Yelp
I had heard rave reviews so I was excited to try Little Coyote and they did not disappoint. The food, the service, the vibes were all amazing

Yelp
So, made my second trip back to LC and as the staff had shared a few weeks ago, it was a completely new menu with only one carryover item, the smoked oysters . We opted for the lamb tartare ( yes that's lamb) the frijoles with smoked pork and the chicken with sour mojo sauce and yucca. They just take smoking to an art form. The food was an absolute delight and the staff make the whole dining experience such a pleasure. All our selections were outstanding but the lamb, that was a whole different level.
google avatar

Austin C.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting LC, and it was excellent. We got there about 4:30 and sat at the bar. The service was great and as soon as the kitchen opened at 5 pm our food came out immediately. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time. The food is a mixture of Texas barbecue with Mexican flavors and local ingredients. Everything we had was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My husband I recently moved back to the east coast after a few years of living in Reno Tahoe and Austin, TX, so naturally we gravitated towards Little Coyote and all its western themed goodness. The restaurant is nestled in St. Elmo with a stunning view of lookout mountain. We sat inside at the bar during our first trip, but in the summer we plan to be on the patio! We ordered a tasty margarita and an old fashioned along with a ceviche dish, brisket and side of rice! All of our main dishes came with fresh salsa and tortillas, which was perfect for making little tacos! Little Coyote is bringing the heat to Chatt and I am all here for it! The service was incredible and ambience was classy! It was elevated with a dash of smoked Wild West...and every city could use a little bit of that. The menu changes frequently, so it is definitely worth a bi-weekly or monthly visit!

Yelp
I just don't understand what the hype is all about. The food is just not good! The staff is wonderful, the place looks cool, and the menus sounds interesting, but all that means nothing when your food is lacking. My boyfriend and I had dinner at the bar a few weeks ago, and the only thing I liked was the yucca fries. (Which ironically were brought out on the house) Everything else to me, was just not edible. My boyfriend thought it was fine, he at least ate it. I stopped at the market on the way home and grabbed something for myself. This is not someplace I'd try again. Don't believe the Instagram reels.. it's not honest feedback, it's paid, targeted advertisement.

Yelp
20 out of 10... left fully satisfied!! Fantastic service and amazing combination of flavors!!! Jacob helped us and he was super pleasant and friendly and very helpful in giving us suggestions and recommendations! Good is very flavorful, this is a place that mixes a little bit of Mexican, puerto tucán and Latin flavors... there was not one thing I didn't like. Will definitely be back and try more things from the menu. So far the porchetta, the beef Tri-tip, the oysters "al ajillo" the collard greens coleslaw, the chili con queso and carne and the hot chocolate helado were TO DIE FOR!! Oh The piña colada was a 10/10!!! Will be back for more soon!!! Thank you!!

Marissa L.

Yelp
Everything was excellent! Our waiter, Kade was informative, knowledgeable and polite. Food was delicious and filling. Very cool environment
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Such an exciting take on Tex-Mex! Everything on the menu is an elevated twist and sure to surprise, my personal favorite was the spicy margarita which really brought the heat!

Mary Grace A.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and it was great! Bartenders were excellent. Delicious drinks. The margarita was perfect and the old fashioned was so good! The atmosphere is electrifying, from a food lover's pov. We enjoyed watching the open kitchen and obvious teamwork throughout the restaurant. We will definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Sean C J.

Yelp
This is by far one of the very best restaurants in the Chattanooga area! The brisket is omg! But really all the food was awesome! The drinks are masterfully hand crafted and wonderful! The ambiance is energetic and entertaining by the knowledgeable staff. The price? Not cheap but definitely worth every penny!
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
Unique menu, beautiful presentation, and awesome service. Little Coyote is one of a kind. Essentially, you order everything at once & it comes to you in somewhat of a multi-course fashion, accompanied by fresh, tiny, house-made corn tortillas (SO good). The 'family style' vibe really makes this a fun, interactive dining experience. Additionally, their menu is everchanging, so you may not find all the dishes we tried. But, considering everything was so delicious, I know that whatever is next to come will be just as incredible!
google avatar

Whitney F.

Yelp
I love the flavor of their various tapas-style dishes. You cannot get this level of Tex-Mex anywhere else in Chatt. The staff are unequivocally welcoming and enthusiastic about the menu. The owners have done an amazing job at creating a balance of a stimulating yet chill ambiance.
google avatar

Isabella B.

Yelp
Great service with energetic staff who knew the menu well! I loved the ambiance too-- I went to the bathroom and was amazed at the decor. I really loved the steak most of all, the steak literally felt melt-off-the bone The staff were honest about having to improve on the opening day issues, like the ice cream being too spicy ... it shows transparency!
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
I was not expecting much going in with a large party, but our server Chris did a great job, he took care of allergy restrictions and came back with the menu marked up with options and the food was delicious. The ribs were fall off the bone tender with great flavor, the brisket was just right and the yuca fries were crisp. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Holy smokes. I had the tuna to start. Fantastic mix of fish pieces, no stringy sinew or globs of fat that sometimes comes in dishes like this. I found the jicama to not add much but a bit of texture. The rest was tart, sultry, and divine. Main was brisket, rice, and beans. Pretty simple, but astoundingly delicious! The small corn tortillas that came with the meal are made in house- they even showed me the machine they use to make and cook them. Each and every dish was well thought out and not overwhelming in any flavor. I come to Chattanooga a few times a year and like to try new places- I'm coming back here!
google avatar

Ali M.

Yelp
These fried plantains might look delicious, but mine were so hard I cracked a tooth biting into one and now need a root canal. I was there soon after they had opened and most of what I picked from the menu was sold out.
google avatar

Cassie W.

Yelp
Sat out on the covered patio in October and it was amazing. Food was so good. Cocktails were super tasty. Service was great and attentive. Will be back!!
google avatar

Cheri B.

Yelp
WOW what a lively new restaurant! Indoor and outdoor seating and you can bring your pup on patio and have your margarita too! There are comfortable booths that seat six and tables too. Everything from the tables and chairs to the lighting and artwork is just perfect... creates the perfect atmosphere for date night or girls night out. We girls shared the tapas and ordered delicious cocktails. The Aquaranchero and the Spicy Margarita were our faves! We all loved the Carnitas, which our server told us it was the owners Grandmas recipe... love that! We also had Smoked Beef with yummy Chimichurri and my favorite... Smoked Honeynut Squash... definitely will be ordering this again. We had Plantain Chips and Queso too... just a great night out at this eclectic new restaurant. Btw there is a parking lot. It's a great new place, so plan ahead or go to their website and get on the Waiting List. We all loved it!
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
We enjoyed sitting at the bar and really liked the queso fundido as an appetizer. Enjoyed the wine (Verdejo) Suggest adding a full bar to the outdoor patio in spring through fall! We will be back!
google avatar

Tony K.

Yelp
They were full when we arrived so we had to get on the wait list. To get on the wait list required your complete name and phone number which is entirely too intrusive. I went to the bar while waiting and the bar tender said that he does not take orders that I would have to catch one of the roaming waitresses to order a drink. Their menu has small items, sides, and large items, and the waitress told us to order all we wanted and she would "course the meal". She explained they are a "family style restaurant and that we should order for the table to share". The first thing we ordered was sold out so the waitress went down a long list of items they were out of which was disappointing. We ordered queso, shrimp, and plantains for small plates. The shrimp plate was excellent. We ordered beans, and something else quite forgettable for sides, and two orders of tri-tip steak for large plates. For the steak she said the chef recommended it cooked medium, when I asked for it medium rare she was clearly upset for me suggesting something different. I thought that was quite funny. I later realized that the beef was premade for medium and my request for a lighter cook wasn't possible (the waitress just didn't want to say that). That is an assumption because both plates of beef were cooked the same. It was likely cooked sous vide to medium rare and they have to sear it to finish at medium. Our first "course" was delivered along with a small plate of tiny corn tortillas. We were a table of three sharing three small plates meant to be had with tortillas, and the tortillas were tiny and few. We had to request more. Overall the food was incredibly salty. And basically just not very good and quite common. Although I will say that the steak slices with chimichurri were pretty good. The place had a nice atmosphere. The people were friendly, service was ok. The bartender made a good bourbon old fashion.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
This place was super delicious. The brisket was fantastic as was chicken fajitas and wedge salad with very tasty pork chunks. Staff were great and ambience a bit energetic but fun. A must go.
google avatar

Raquel N.

Yelp
Cool place, good service, friendly bartenders...the food is not good. I think people don't pay attention to how "not good" the food is. I'm not saying it's bad, it's not good. Had the shrimp, pinto beans, and beef cheeks. The aioli was horrible. They don't even have a hot sauce. Will give it a few months before going back. We were warned by a friend but the reviews were good. I hope it gets better.

Carl K.

Yelp
Good vibes! Handsome staff! Amazing drinks! Excellent and exciting food! One of our favorite places to relax and eat!

Mike D.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent. Not really Tex Mex or bbq. Kind of a Nice fusion. Highly recommended!

Yelp
There on opening weekend . Super busy as expected. Ordered the Carnitas, waiter came back said they were out. Ok. Ordered Red Fish. Guest ordered 1/2 chicken. Too many bones in fish. Skin rubbery. Chicken ok but very little mole. Tried to be constructive to waiter, just poo poo'd and basically said I was wrong. Finished and paid check. I should have looked closer so on me but charged me for the Carnitas that they didn't have. Sent revue on check text, guess those are not read. Know that are better than this as have been to Main Street meats. So disappointing for me . Don't think they were ready to start service.

Mandi H.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere! The food is fantastic and I love their house cocktails. A definite must try. Super fun and brand new to this area!

Gregg F.

Yelp
Went there for a nice dinner and sat outside. Service was outstanding. The tuna tostados, queso, and avocado with brisket were delicious appetizers. Margaritas were generous and refreshing. Ok, on to the main course! The brisket with little tortillas were beyond belief. They cut like butter, and the smoked flavor was crazy good. Hint!, dump some queso sauce the brisket as you load it on the tortillas. Then, chicken fajitas, omg, so good, served along with an entire poblano, onions and charred tomato's. Ok, I just want to live here and eat this food 24/7. If we can work this out let me know,

Yelp
This is a favorite place of my son's and his family. You CAN arrive early, be seated and get a cocktail before they officially open at 5pm and take your order. If the weather is nice, even if cool (they have overhead heaters), sit outdoors. The view of the village below and Lookout Mountain is wonderful. The bar and tables are positioned in such a way that everyone gets a view. It's brilliant! I ordered Little Coyote's version of an old fashioned with tequila vs bourbon-- it was delicious. The menu consists of three courses (four if you go for dessert): small plates, sides, and entrees. It's truly tapas style for all, with unlimited corn tortillas and sauces (coutrements). Sharing is the order of the day -- if everyone orders one of each for themselves you'll have way too much food and a massive bill. For four adults and two small children we had the smoked sausage, smoked pork belly, calamari "Al Ajillo", Carolina gold rice, celery root coleslaw, smoked beef brisket, and pork carnitas. Anything smoked was amazing! I learned that the menu does change from time to time, keeping things new and interesting. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive but not hovering. The place started getting busy as we were getting close to finishing, but the clientele were pleasant, adding to an overall pleasant experience. I've been to some places where obnoxious customers ruined my experience. Not here! Go with someone special for a very special evening!

Brian D.

Yelp
Best place I have eaten in the NOOG. Every single thing I ordered was fantastic. Jessica was great. Only qualm was a little dry on the brisket. Make it ready at 4 and you won't have that issue. I'm never eating anywhere else in this town.
google avatar

Ann F.

Yelp
Exquisite food and exceptional service. Our server Mandy made recommendations for food and drink. Every item was delicious and came out quickly. Porchetta, red fish, queso, and endive salad were wonderful. The margarita and their slightly spicy version of ranch water were delicious (and strong) too. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Our table ordered a variety of dishes. This was our first time here. They do not allow substitutions. You will be up charged if you order from the kids menu as an adult. Three of our group ordered ribs. One order was brought out. The food runner brought two separate plates containing one rib each. We explained nobody ordered one rib. She left them after saying "well someone ordered it". After our party received our food, I asked about my friends and I rib order. We were told they ran out. When the bill came my friend and I were charged $4.25 for a single rib. I stated I did not get a rib. The waitress then asked who ate it so she can add it to their bill and take it off mine. My friend was also charged for a single rib. We were not explained that the single rib were our dinner since they ran out of ribs. The manager had to come and adjust our tickets. They did not offer a discount for the misunderstanding, instead we were charged 20% gratuity for having a party of 7. The prices are high, the portions are small and not tasty. Because it's a gluten free restaurant they only offer corn tortillas. For the price, substitutions should be offered. It's more of an a la carte style, no sides included only "garnishments".

Kathy U.

Yelp
The food was awesome and creative, we had the ribs, the beef, hot Link, Thai shrimp and oysters. I had an old-fashioned made with tequila and it was very tasty! Our waitress was very attentive, friendly, and chatted with us about Chattanooga and all.

Yelp
What a great meal last night! The service, food, drinks and ambience were all spot on. From the GM (Rob) bringing my wife sunglasses (sitting outside at sunset), our server Reagan catering to our every need, the kitchen and bar putting out delicious offerings and sweet Abuella making tortillas to die for; everything was spectacular!

Yelp
Wow. Incredible food, service, and atmosphere. This was our second visit - they have undoubtedly worked out the kinks in the initial opening. I recommend trying things you might be less familiar with, like the "collard cole slaw". Their flavors are just really well balanced with salt, fat, and acid - so any dish will be pretty versatile for a range of palettes (unless you're not a meat eater). We will be back again and again.

This is one of the best restaurants in all of Chattanooga. From the excellent service to fabulous dishes, this place rocks. Without a doubt, the best bar and bartenders anywhere.
